I don'i know what they PAY these people, but they don't seem very happy about being there. The store on Bonanza really has "issues". Aside from that, the stores I have visited are clean "decently" stocked and prices on "select" items are competitive. I go for certain items that other stores don't seem to ever carry. That basically equals to 4 times a year.
This store may not have the decor of the international megamarts, but the quality food products at bargain prices combined with the staff's knowledge of the food service business makes them indispensable to us. They seem equally at home with advice for restaurants or small concession businesses such as ours. We provide services to ministries, charities, and non-profit organizations and as such, must keep costs as low as possible. However, we refuse to compromise on quality and with Smart & Final, we don't have to sacrifice quality to make our services affordable.
My mother in law likes it because she doesn't have a Sam's or Costco card. I just think it seems old and dingy in there. The service is lacking. I think its a good place if you are having a party or own a small business. I got a bunch of white matchbooks there for .99 cents for my wedding sparklers that was exciting. I give it a C great if you want bulk items.
PROS: bulk without club cards, good for parties
CONS: dingy, small selection
