I've dined at this particular restaurant on occasion over the last few years, even before it had moved to its current location. While I particularly like a few of the dishes here, it became apparent tonight that this restaurant operates under very UNETHICAL practices.

Don't fall for the cheery smile of the stubby, Chinese woman in glasses, who is the owner. She deviously leaves out the itemized costs on your tab, and only hands you a bill with the total amount. As my mom was looking at the bill tonight, she thought it seemed a bit on the steeper end. We vaguely remember the cost of each item on the menu and did the math. The only unknown cost was a common vegetable dish we ordered, which was not listed on the menu.

We asked her to list out the cost of each item for us, and for SOME reason, she was at the front desk for a VERY long time, crunching numbers on her calculator. And she wasn't helping other customers either. When the tab finally came back, that one vegetable dish (which would normally run $11 at most) was hiked up to $16. That was the only item she could juggle with the cost in order to match the total she'd originally written.

I'm very disappointed by Toy's Cafe's blatant dishonesty. If they needed to raise prices to meet ends, I'd still be willing to pay. However, when they are intentionally stealing my money, they've just lost my patronage. I will not be going back again.

Pros: Decent food

Cons: Unethical practices

Very authentic & delicious Chinese food. Service is also very good and price is reasonable. Portions are large enough that they can easily be shared.

Toy's Cafe has moved a few block east. They are still on the main street between 108th and 106th. The new location is much nicer. The food remains quite authentic.

Pros: Good noodles, dumplings, potstickers

Cons: Don't go there for their service

This place has nice inexpensive and tasty stir fry dishes but what we keep going back for is their Chinese Beef Noodle Soup! We haven't found any equivalent anywhere outside LA. The broth is rich and meat is tender and flavorful! And if you are adventuresome, try the beef tendon noodle soup -- the tendons just melt in your mouth. They'll even do a combo of the two if you'd like. My husband and I like the spicy version but my kids don't eat spicy so we usually have to get 2 bowls, one spicy and one not so we can all be satisfied. This is not the same as pho -- the broth is richly spiced with anise, szechuan peppercorns, ginger, soy, sugar, etc and cooked down to a thick mahogany brown goodness that we never waste. The only thing I don't recall is whether this noodle soup is listed on their English menu or not... If not, ask for it anyway! If you love authentic Chinese cuisine, you won't be disappointed!

My young nephew took us here to try their noodle dishes; which they are supposedly known for. The food was good, the fried rice with salty fish was outstanding! The one noodle dish we ordered included these "mochi" like dumplings; fun to eat and delicious too. The service was fast and very attentive. I was impressed.

If you like spicy food than this place is for you. The service is good and the staff friendly. However, the food is average at best.

The Chinese food is very NYC style- not anything like PF Chang's if that's what you're used to. My favorite dish of theirs is beef with snow peas- their beef is always tender and tasty. The restaurant's new location is much nicer than before and service is really good.

To the recommendations listed above, I think they are mostly from Hong Kong or maybe Americans who have yet to try better Chinese-style restaurants. Toy's Cafe does have a few nice dishes such as green onion pancake, and most dishes are quite affordable, but in general they can only be rated as an average (or below?) restaurant.

Food presentation is poor, often things are too greasy (same to most HK style restaurants) that make you drink tea constantly to wash down the oil stuck in your mouth and throat, after-taste is bad... As an Asian myself, I feel bad when I see a restaurant like this. They do not put much efforts into designing and preparing dishes, the quality of the food here is really not up to the standard (for us). Today I ordered a Den-Den Mien, and couple minutes later a bowl of needles with a pile of paste on top was delivered to my table. Nothing else, just like that! I told the waiter if he could just add some veggies in it. He told me Den Den Mien is just like this. The paste isn't any special paste, is't like ones directly from the jar. They are charging this for 5 bucks. After I went home, I called this restaurant and complained about this. Even though they told me each restaurant does things differently, but come on, I am a Chinese and I KNOW what Den Den Mien looks like, you have nothing else but noodles and paste and you are charging 5 bucks for it? This is rediculous!

Maybe after all, they are targeting on the affordability of the food rather than quality. If you want something quick regardless of the quality, go ahead and try Toy's cafe; if you want something that tastes good, I don't recommend this restaurant at all. Lastly, if you are dying to try something here, try the green onion pancake - the only dish I would recommend from its menu.

They are relocating their store to some place close, I already told them to put some efforts into making a better food experiences. Otherwise, Saiyonara Toy's Cafe! Won't come again!!!

I like the menu selection at Toys Cafe. They serve home-style Chinese food. My favorites in particular are the smokey-flavored beef chow fun. The orange beef is also good. I like that there are a couple of parking spaces right on the street in front of the restaurant that are usually available, as it's not always easy to find street parking in Old Bellevue. However, they also share a parking lot out back. This place is economical and authentic.

Never get enough of their HK-style seafood noodle, chicken and salted fish fried rice, and some more. Generous portion and FAST service, in addition, make this place is a must-to-dine-in.

Oh, I am so addicted to this place. I hate trying to find a good Chinese restaurant around here - there may be one or two good things on the menu - but here, it's all good! I love the kung pao chicken and the chicken egg foo young. What's even better, is they deliver if you're close by! The pricing is standard - the dinner meal is a good deal (main course, egg roll, rice and soup for about $9.00). You definitely have to try this place - don't let its appearances fool you :)

Toy's Cafe is an excellent resturant, with really high quality food, especially in the chinese language menu. I was fortunate to be there during New Years adn receive a calender witha near complete menu on the back. The staff, all from one family, are very kind and willing to adapt dishes. everything is fresh and well prepared, and many native chinese friends have said that it beats out most other resturants they go to.

It looks so ordinary, but the food is really good! Inexpensive noodle soups and my favorite is the Shanghai rice cake. Check the Chinese menu, not the regular one, for inexpensive and tasty traditional dishes. Really nice family owned feeling and everyone is always welcoming. Don't "Street Appraise"!

As a chinese, I like Toy's food. It is really nice, speically if you konw how to order from the chinese menu. The noodle soup is very good. I don't understand why some people will think Toy is Suburban America Chinese food. I guess they probably don't even know what's the real chinese food taste like.!! = ) Good price for lunch and quick dinner!
