My girlfriend took her car to Arlington Tire this morning (03/29/2011) as there was a wobble coming from the rear end. Having done work on cars I figured it was in need of a couple of rear tires.

She went there and they talked her into getting two new front struts, oil and filter change, new front and rear wipers and new air filter!!!!!!!

The tires were $179.98 - fair enough. They didn't even charge her for the installation....that is because the rest of the bill came to $850.58!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !

I went up there to talk with 'Nicky' the manager. He wasn't there, just the mechanic who did the work. He showed me the struts. Sure, the right hand one had blown a seal. The left hand one was fine and didn't need replacing. However, replacing the struts was not necessary.

The problem was that she never asked the struts to be replaced but they insisted it was necessary. She trusted their advice.

I went up to Arlington Tire to pick up the car. I complained loudly to the mechanic who called Nicky. I told him they had ripped her off by talking her into work that her car didn't need and I was going to write a review accordingly . After I hung up, he called back the mechanic and told him that if I was going to leave an unflattering review he was going to sue me for slander....nice!!!!!

Arlington Tire are down in the sewer of car repair. Selling my girlfriend goods and services she didn't need. What a cliche.

Of course, I will never go there again and I would recommend to anyone contemplating pulling into to Arlington Tire to save themselves a few hundred dollars and go to somewhere more honest and reputable.

p.s Before writing this review I called Nicky and asked him if he would consider reimbursing a portion of the labor charge. He hung up on me, immediately called my girlfriend at work and told her that I had threatened to stop payment on the repair. Complete lie. I offered him the chance to do the right thing but instead he chose to call my girlfriend and mix things up with lies. Good doing business with you Nicky...I hope you have a nice day!

p.p.s. Based on my experience with these people and some genuine reviews at Yelp.com, it is my opinion that the reviews on this site are not written by customers of Arlington Tire.

I was looking for a used car and the key with a used car is having a good mechanic. The folks at Arlington Tire were awesome. I brought in two cars for them. The first one, they found about 6 things wrong with it and told me that the repairs would cost $3000! It was a $7000 car, so if it wasn't for them, I would have lost a lot of money. The second car, they checked out to be okay except for one oil pan leak. I told the seller about this and they agreed to pay for it! This saved me about $300.

They take their time, an hour per car and check out every component. It's just good sense to do due diligence with them, even if they are a bit on the expensive side with inspections. They are worth the money.

I took my 1998 car to an auto service center in Wakefield to replace a fuel pump. After the fuel pump was replaced I was told that my front end (inner and outer tie rods, ball joints, steering rod, stabilizers etc) needed a complete overhaul that would cost me over $1000. On a recommendation, I took my car from Wakefield to Arlington Tire. They inspected the front end and told me that I only needed 2 outer tie rods which they replaced for $175.00.
Finally found a mechanic that I can trust that does try to soak every possible dollar out of you.

I had a hard decision: buy a used car or put money into my 1995 Toyota Corolla. The Corolla has been good to me but with 161,000 miles, she was feeling a little cranky. Then again, any used car I could get for $2,000-$3,000 would come with it's own problems.

I took my Corolla to Arlington Tire and hoped for the best. The staff remade my car in one day and when I drove out of their lot, I felt as if I had purchased a new car.

Arlington Tire phoned me a few times during the day to make sure they weren't doing any work I didn't want. In fact, they waived some labor charges which brought the total charges down to the lowest price for the work done -- no way could I have gotten that deal anywhere else.

Keep these guys in business so I can bring my Toyota back to them in 10 years!

They help you find exactly what you are looking for. They do not pressure you to pick the most expensive or cheaper quality just to make a sale. Very patient, eager to answer all or any questions. Great place to go for tires, much better than sears.
