DO NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL!!!! It is aweful. Every review you see about them is true. There is no organization to it all. None of the quizes match the material. Most of the material is out dated. All the equipment is not in working order. The director is very forgetful, and will forget everything except that you owe her money. Class never started on time or ended at the right time. Instructors were often late to class. Many times we didnt have an instructor for the day and waited till the director called in back ups to come in and teach something they were not prepared to teach. National registry day there is a joke. And if your ignore all of this advice and over pay to go to this school, the director has no friends left in EMS and getting in internship is next to impossable. It took me a year to get mine across the state. Yes 500 miles away they were aware of her practices and were reluctant to give me my internship. Please do not go to this school. Trust me you will regret it after the first week. This school is a disgrace to EMS, i am shamed i went here.

I hope if you are going to be taking any medical training and are looking to become an EMT or Paramedic that you DO NOT - I REPEAT DO NOT go to California EMS. I am a past employee and can not begin to tell you how VERY DISORGANIZED the director is. Many of the employees believe that the director has alzheimers. Most recently she almost flunked a paramedic student but thank goodness we had corrected her math because she would have flunked him only to have to take the course over! (we are talking over $10,000 course, too!!!). This school had a few instructors that were hated by the students. Whenever they questioned the instructors techniques - she would stop the class find a book that backed her statement and when she could not find any backing she would never back down....SHE HAD NO RESPECT because she gave the students no respect! I can not tell you how many complaints we got from students in the office regarding this particular instructor and whenever we would go to the director she would say that the student is being silly - thier young - they do not like being wrong! We in the office also had difficulties with this particular instructor and she continued to work for the school even after being late constantly for class instruction...or many times not coming in at all (and would not even call to let the school know!?!) Instructors are constantly letting classes out early - (which means they are not in the classroom for the required hours needed for certificates). There has been many occasions where students came to us crying that the director was ganging up on them and that they felt very picked on....and I FOR ONE CAN TELL YOU this happens quite regularly. The director has limited computer skills and is constantly having problems with her computer and the classroom projector often to the point of changing her class itenerary because she can not get one or both to work properly. Sign in sheets are left about the classroom so that anyone can sign in for each other and does happen quite often! Paperwork would be a mess if it weren't for the staff who has taken it upon themselves to try to organize files. This school recently moved to a bigger office which she can not afford and that is why the staffs hours has been cut and some have been let go! The director has burned many bridges with many medical transportation companies and because of this when it comes to finding intern work after attending CAEMS you may not find any....some of the ambulance companies refuse to work with her or the school....This school will not last if the director continues on this route! Hope that you will really check out the school, ask for list of instructors and their credentials...and GOOD LUCK if you do decide to go to California EMS Academy....I for one hope that if I am in an accident or ever need a paramedic that if I see a past student I would worry that I am being treated properly!
