My car broke down in Georgia and thank goodness it was towed to John Megel Chevy in Dawsonville. They were quick to find a solution at a minimal expense to me. Everyone was wonderful. Thank you Dustin, Stephanie and Sharon

I bought a new 2011 suburban for my company at John Megel Chevrolet. Not only do I love the car, but I feel that the customer service that I received there was world class. Having bought many cars throughout my career I can honestly say that this dealership has the most honest and straight forward staff in the business. I would definitely recommend this dealership to anyone. They are the best Georgia Chevrolet Dealer

After having a horrific experience with another dealership (I won't mention any names, but the name is BIG in NASCAR), I searched the internet for the car I wanted. I came across John Megel, inquired about a vehicle they had, and let me tell you how HELPFUL they were. So much so that Kari (whom I was communicating with) even stayed late that evening to meet my husband and myself. She and Steve went OUT OF their way for us.They got us the car of our dreams, (better than the one we were going to get at that "other" place, and our payments are less too) FAST* FRIENDLY* PROFESSIONAL...That is why we will forever be a JOHN MEGEL CHEVROLET customer. We intend to refer all our friends and colleagues to them!

John Megel Chevrolet wants to be certain every customer is completely satisfied during and after their sale which are our Service Customers. The recall on the Camaro seatbelts was for any Camaro build during the 1980's. The recall was issued 5/14/1990 it stated "Plastic Components of Seat Belt Buckle assemblies do not contain an ultra violet stablizer, and exposure to direct sunlight and elevated interior temperatures could weaken the plastic components". Even though the seat belt recall is from 1990 and the Camaro has 250,000 miles on it, we still honor the replacement. However, GM has long since stopped making the buckles so at no expense of the customer we special ordered the buckles from an outside company. Our fault was not communicating with the customer which set of buckles he wanted replaced. Our Tech felt the back seat ones needed the obvious replacement buckle. He drove the Camaro to the service lane from his stall satisfied that he had done a good job. Upon discovering our error immediately returned the car to the stall and fixed the proper seat belts.. We apologized to the customer for his inconvenience and explained that other customers had come in before him and were also waiting. We hope this customer has since calmed down from his experience here and will do business with us again.

I recently had issues with my front seat belt buckles. They had fell apart due to sun exposer. So I did a search on recalls and found that the seat belts were on the list. I ordered them and went to John Megel to have them replaced. Not a big deal right? WRONG. After an hour and a half, I go to get in my car and notice that the front seat belt buckles had not been replaced. The service tech said "yes they did, they're in the back". Are you kidding me? How the hell can a service tech drive my car to the service area and not notice that the problem was with the front NOT the back.

Just goes to prove there are idiots everywhere you go!

John Megel chevrolet is very dishonest. They are very friendly when trying to sell you a vehicle. After purchasing the vehicle, while signing, I did not notice they had charged me a $499.00 dock fee. The salesman, sales manager and finacial manager never told me about a dock fee. They had given me a price for the vehicle. I did purchase the extended warrenty, but did not realize they had stuck me with this dock fee. So I will tell everyone I know to stay away from John Megel Chevrolet!

I did purchase a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport from John Megel Chevrolet. I found the ad on cars.com. I had a good experience with the dealership until after I purchased the vehicle. I live in Tennessee, but purchased the vehicle in Georgia. They agreed to mail the payments for the tax, tags, and title fees, but miscalculated. As a result I was forced to pay $300.00 for tags. Then 19 days after purchasing the truck it wouldn't start as I was leaving for work. Needless to say I missed work that night. I finally got it jumped off the next morning(I work 3rd shift) and drove it to a nearby dealership. They informed the two terminals were in very bad shape, and they were surprised it has been starting for the previous 19 days like that. I contacted John Megel Chevrolet about the issue assuming they would take care of it since I've only had the vehicle 19 days. Well I assumed wrong and to top that the parts were not in stock and I was not only forced to miss work again, but I was also stranded at the dealership. The sales manager I spoke with from John Megel was unprofessional and verbally abusive. I doubt he speaks to people like that in person, or over the phone to those who live in Georgia. His name is Phillip Neal. There is also another issue with the passenger side door which is 1100 dollars, but the extended warranty I purchased should cover that. By the way the warranty doesn't come into effect until 30-45 days after your purchase date. If you buy used from John Megel and are forced to get a repair they will not fork the bill and get reimbursed by GMAC . YOU will have to. It is still a great truck with no major problems, but I just wonder about their "comprehensive inspections" of used vehicles. I'm not a mechanic, but as soon as the Dodge serviceman popped the hood and looked at the terminals he knew that was the problem. So either a 5 second look from a mechanic at Beaman Dodge is more "comprehensive" then their inspection or they simply don't inspect them. The repair was only $150.00, but it's the principle. I missed two days of work, was stranded at the dealership, and overpaid for tags, and John Megel refused to do anything about it. To put a total price on it I spent/lost approximately $1,000. I will never buy from them again, and hopefully neither will you. By the way if anyone from John Megel reads this, tell P. Neal if he's ever in Tennessee to stop on by my place and try speaking to me like that in person. Trust me, I really pondered driving 5 hours to........i'll leave that up to your imagination.

Beware before buying an extended warranty. I was told when signing the papers that it started after the man. warranty ran out. It didn't. We have bought 2 vehicles since then and went to another dealership.

Im surprised when i read some of these negative reviews on here. I have bought my cars from John Megel Chevrolet for years now and i have had nothing but great experiences. The people are friendly and you can tell they are interested in helping you out, not real pushy like some other dealerships ive been to. I love the atmosphere at John Megel Chevrolet....it is very inviting and when i had to come in and get my car serviced they quoted me 150$ cheaper than the dealership near my home. Overall great prices and nice fair people, i have recommended Megel Chevrolet to numerous friends and family.

Brought a newly acquired used Silverado in for an alignment, estimated charge less than $70. Total bill came to $710. At 58K miles they said the inner tie rods were "worn" and needed to be replaced to complete the alignment. Charges for parts were 3 times what I would have paid retail and labor was over $150/hour. My complaint in writing has had no response.

Postscript: A fellow Rotarian told me just this morning his story of dealings with Megel in Dawsonville. Estimate to fix a "Check Engine" light condition was over $3000. When he complained they "consulted" about it and offered the major repair for about $2500. Being suspicious, he said no to the offer, went to another repair facility that diagnosed the problem and fixed it with a new gas cap, and the car runs fine.

These may be exceptions but my advice would be to beware if your charges are not covered by warranty.

POOR, 5 times in for trans work, they had their best guy on it!, it is still doing the same thing, seeing how they have had their best guy on it, I will have to find someplace else to repair it, If their best can not fix a simple 4*4 service code, after replacing the entire trans and transfer case and it going back FIVE times for repairs, they surely can not fix it now

the worse of it was the service managers attitude, and refusal to say what they had found on the 5th time in, I'm amazed at this dealerships poor service

I had my 2000 Corvette serviced at John Megel, I picked it up, drove home and noticed a scratch in the door and a chunk out of the bottom of the car from the car lift. I went back the next day and spoke with the service writer(Dustin Seay), he spoke with his boss Jeff ??? and said they would not do anything about the damage. Dustin stated to me he did not notice a scratch or the damage to the botton, when I brought the car in.

I was in market to buy a new Corvette and will not by the Vette from John Megel. Nor will I ever use this dealership again.

I was in the market for a used HHr and had been to several dealerships in the North Ga Area looking. The salesman Chris at John Megel was helpful without being pushy the first time I went just for a test drive.. After 2 weeks of searching for the "perfect" used car, I gave up and went back to John Megel for a new car. I left one Chevy dealership to go to this one.
The price was fair, the salesman non-pushy, finance person nice with good credit tips. I highly recommend John Megel and Chris the salesman if you are in the market.

See review below.. after going round and round with GMAC's district manager re my son's Impala, John Megel refuses to make good on any of the repairs or help us out with future repairs!!! My son had to dip into his college fund to pay for the repairs...Thanks John Megel for helping out your neighbors. We try to purchase locally and American, but this experience has changed our mind...sorry GMAC. GMAC was willing to give up repeat buyers for less than $1,000 no wonder they are going under! This is our son's first car do you think he will ever buy another Chevy?

I purchased a low mileage (44624) 2001 Impala at Megel on 8/11/07 for my son to use to go the NGCSU, an almost daily commute, and I wanted something reliable and trouble free that he could afford the payments. The Carfax report stated one owner, the salesman assured me that "a little old lady" in Dahlonega used the car only to go to church and and the store and it was always garaged. "The pre-sale used care inspection showed no troubles and it was in perfect condition!" Well, less than a year later the computer that controls the radio, alarm and ignition shut off (theft deterrent) failed,(and to this day if you put on the rear defroster the radio doesn't work!), that was $200 after we replaced the battery! Then the transmission needed flushing, $200, then again one year later the car is intermittently not starting and the trunk opens when you go over a bump, replace the pass-lock module $500, that is not all, the catalytic converter was clogged, thank god it was covered under Federal Law, and there was a recall we were not notified of (yet) that the engine can catch fire do to faulty spark plugs. Wait there is more! The tie rods needed replacing, tire alignment, usual filters (air, oil) replacements $500. Now we also have a minor oil leak, transmission leak, power steering leak, and a pressure hose, that does not include the 3,000 mile oil changes and the car only has 59787 miles on it!! Their answer, "as is"! I learned my lesson, buyer beware! especially at John Megel!

I've just been ticketed for illegal window tint on a pre-owned 2000 Chevy Malibu that I purchased from John Megel. Their response was that they are "allowed to sell as is".
While I understand limited liability on pre-owned cars, I am appalled that they sell cars that are outright illegal using this excuse.
I will recommend to my friends and family that they do not purchase from John Megel.

I go to thiss dealership for my oil changes. They are friendly. They also have the best price around....9.99 for an oil change. Also, they periodically send out flyers with a scratch off for a $$ off or free oil change. The only downside is it usually tkes about an hour, and that is with an appointment.

PROS: Very friendly, affordable
CONS: takes a while
