Pre-Owned Car Buyers Beware. I bought a pre-owned car from salesperson James Brown. The radio, map lights, back lights, and radio and A/C display did not work. We were told that they would be fixed. We made sure many times that every time the salesperson said the radio and lights were to be fixed that I added, "And the display, right?" He verbally assured us that was included. He also assured us multiple times that 2 recalls on the Car Fax Report were fixed. We asked about it multiple times because wanted a safe car to put toddler in, and we told him so. Each time he told us they take care of all those things before selling pre-owned cars. He said it would take couple of days to fix. Mr. Brown called us to say it was ready for pick-up a few days later. We drove an hour and 15 minutes one way to get it. When we got there, he told us the map lights and radio were fixed, but not the radio and A/C display or back lights. When asked if he knew when he called to say our car was ready, he did know then and chose not to tell us even though he knew we were driving an hour and 15 minutes one way to the dealership. Lute Riley Honda refused to fix the display even though the salesperson agreed to do it before we paid for the car in full. My husband told him they did not uphold their end of the bargain and do what they verbally said they would do. We were told we needed to pay $1900 more to have it fixed. My husband talked to a manager, and he said it wasn't cost effective to fix it and we needed to pay $1900 because he could sell the car to someone else easily. We didn't even get an apology from the manager. We were treated completely different once they had our money. We ended up taking the car to Frank Kent Honda. They fixed it for $259 ($109 for the parts and $150 for labor), and Lute Riley Honda wanted $1900. Frank Kent also told us 2 recalls had not been fixed, and they were the ones that Lute Riley assured us were fixed--one being a serious safety recall with the ignition switch. Frank Kent Honda service dept. even called Lute Riley service dept. to double check that those recalls were not fixed. Lute Riley told them that they were not fixed. Our service worker at Frank Kent said that the Lute Riley service worker told him, "I guess the used car department failed again." Frank Kent fixed the recalls for free and even shuttled my husband to and from work while they fixed the back lights, radio and A/C display, and both recalls in just a few hours. Pre-owned car buyers beware.

Do NOT buy a used car from there. I bought a used car there and after a month it already broke down twice. The first week a bought the car, it was making a noise from the passenger wheel so they fixed that for free and gave me a used car from the lot as a rental, but 3 minutes down the road it stops on me. I bought an extended warrenty since it was a used car but it's pretty much useless cause i have to pay about $1200 or more in the current repair. I tried to call to the managers at Lute Riley and all they do is pass me around to another manager thats not even in his office. Overall do not buy a used car there. I don't know about any of their new cars but having bought a used car there haas been nothing but a nightmare.

From customer service with Kevin, to the final price and contracting everything was a smooth move and for that I strongly recommend this dealership..hands down one of the best I??ve seen.

I bought a car there recently and enjoyed the whole process. Javed was my salesman and he did a terrific job selling me a CR-Z. I thought he was very friendly and would by a car there again.

However, I asked the finance guy if I could purchase an extended warranty later and he said no. That isn't true, you can buy a Honda Care Extended Warranty online a lot cheaper up to 3 mos or 6,000 miles after the sale. No reason to lie just to make a sale.

Otherwise, everything else at the dealership was fine and would go back.

It was the nightmare when I dealt with Lute Riley Honda at Richardson,TX. First I dealt with so called community activist Akrama Khan (Used sales car Director) and his assistant Abid Khan. They proved that they are liar and cheater.
I bought Nissan Sentra that time and defected and repainted at their private place with paint stains inside the car but could not returned back because they never admitted.
After 10 months, wiring was automatically messed up. Talked to warranty people and Courtesy of Nissan Richardson checked and their unqualified electrician could not find the problem and charged me $250 and said wiring was already altered by somebody. I took to Lute Riley and they traded car with me and cheated with me and sold me with over priced but never accepted that wiring was altered by them. Their Sales Director is a big cheater and liar.I will never ever recommend to any body go over there.

Impressive dealership and team of employees. I first heard about Lute Riley through my neighbor when he bought his son a Civic said everything was great and now that we were in the market for a new car I was dying to get something brand new just wasn??t sure I would be able to afford it. Went to Lute Riley Honda last week and I must say this has probably been the Easiest buying experience I??ve ever had, from customer service to the car I wanted to the monthly payments I was looking for overall very well done.

.10+ negative reviews. I assure you that they are not real.

I have companies every day trying to sell me an online reputation management program to "fix my bad reviews on the internet". Or they pull the "Have you seen your reviews on the net lately" routine. These companies have their employees add negative reviews which intimidate the dealership into buying there outrageously expensive service.

So you can take the word of all these stereotypical and malicious negative reviews or my honest words:

Lute Riley Honda has been in business for over 30+ years. We have won the Honda Presidents Award
multiple times over these years. We have one of the largest databases of customers in DFW, and the most website traffic of any Honda store in Texas and nationally in the top 10. Our dealership turnover is the lowest among dealerships in the DFW metroplex. And we are under the corporate umbrella of Sonic Automotive, a Fortune 200 company.

You don't accomplish this by having real bad reviews on the internet, or creating bad customer relations.

So just remember this as you are reading the best fiction on the net.

A worst expereince in buying a certified used car with this dealer ship. They Humilate you to the core. Over promise and when you are at recieving end they just talk very rude try their best in efforts to piss you and make you feel bad. Repeated rounds of visits.. no proper communication is their speciality. They just treat people /customers like and crap once you decided and put your papers.
They just rob you with all hidden costss.. Things change from talking to papers in large and they just humilate you ....Typical car dealer menatlity ..and they just cant be bearable you feel like just shooting them on their face..I think it ranges from customer service ,sales to finance all of them follow the same syllabus.

You will just be recieved when you walk in for the first time ..as a customer after that you are just a road creep for them..their motto is just making you stick to some car and rip you off..
Guys please beleive me.. talk clearly or be as much humiliating as them if you want to buy a car from them..
they can turn your car buying experince very worse or even turn you out as murderers tooo...i mean it..
they just push your limits of life..

I suggested this company to people for the last two years after finding my dream car there one day and having what I thought was a great experience.

It might be good until you actually try to redeem anything they sell you!!

I'm currently going through h-e-double hockeysticks right now because they sold me their "Platinum Care Warranty" when I bought my car 2 years ago and now that I go to actually use it.... 'Oh, we don't service that anymore, call this company you've never heard of to try and redeem it.' So I do.. oh, what? The warranty doesn't do any of the things they told me it did?? Well, I'm sure this is all just a misunderstanding.

Call Honda again... oh? You're not going to do anything you told me? You won't fix the tiny scratches on my bumper?? Oh, and you won't give me a refund on the $2,000.00 policy I purchased that I now can't use? AND you're going to hang up on me?? Wow!! GREAT!!

I absolutely despise these people now. They are bait-and-switchers and will talk a nice game just until you actually need something done. They did the same thing with the tire warranty I purchased which already had me angry.

I'm going through every avenue I know of to try and get my money back, but it's not looking good right now. Save yourself the trouble and avoid them!! I'll never buy a Honda again, that's for sure.

CHEATS! LIARS! RIP-OFFS!

The sliding door to the driver side broke, I had arrived to my appt. at 11am mechanic didn't even look at it until 12pm. Service guy came and told me they could not get the door to open ???? and so what they were going to do is break the door open which is going to charge me $$$ and said once they fix it it's not going to be the same I was like what. I came over played around for like 5 min and the door open. The service guy and mechanic look so dumb the service guy pretend nothing happen and try to sell me some service like replacing my time belt and spark plug. I told him my main concern is the door. Right around 3pm they told us they found the problem, the latch to the door was broken and total cost to fix will be around $870. I was like that is crazy my husband took the car home and fix it himself for $62. The dealership thinks we are dumb ass. Not only they try to make money from us they miss diagnose it wrong. In cases like this make sure you get another opinion before you get it fix.

The same salesman (HAL) sold me a Van with bad brakes and the dealership attitude after the sale is very different from before the sale. They are mean and not responsive.

The salesman was very nice and thought got a good deal. I pointed out couple of things on the Used Van that I liked and the salesman said that they will take care of it on monday as all the technicians had left for the day. I should have not belived him.

On 5-29-10 I bought a seemingly nice used car from Lute Riley Honda. A test drive around the block showed no problems and the car fax indicated the car had been well cared for. Upon purchasing the car and driving for about 20 minutes (no exaggeration), the car overheated and left me stranded on the side of 635. After a phone call to the salesman (Hal) I was told it was an "as-is" purchase and good luck. I even sent an email to the General Manager with no response. Lute Riley does not stand behind what they sell. You would have just as much luck buying a used vehicle from Joe-blow car lot than you would going to a "name brand" dealer like Lute Riley. Shame on you Lute Riley.

The Service Department provides dissapointing service and is WAY OVERPRICED. Take your car somewhere else. I had a letter from Honda for a 50K mile Warranty that provided free emission service and repair. They told me it was not necessary until 75K. I waited 4 days too late, the warranty had expired and Lute Riley or American Honda could do nothing. Honda told me Lute Riley should not have sent me away the 1st time.

Tried to get a decent price and after the salesman left and returned twice with two different prices that were way to much, I left, went to another Honda dealership and saved more than a thousand.

I normally HATE the car buying process, but my salesman made it seem so easy. I had called ahead to see if they even had what I was looking for, and not only did they have it, but they had it ready for me to test drive when I got there! I would recommend Lute Riley to all my friends...wonderful customer service, great prices and friendly atmosphere

I'm very disappointed with lute riley service. I went there on 1/25/10 to replace my battery on my 2007 honda accord, because the day before I had problems to start the car. I need to jump start my car every time I want to turn it on. I explained all the situation with one of the mechanic, I believe his name was timmy or something. And then he go ahead and check my battery. He said the battery only needs to be recharged and doesn't need to be replaced. He told me to drive around for about 1-2hours so the battery can recharged. I then told him that I already did that a day before, but it still did not work, I still can't turn the car on without jump start it. And since my battery still under warranty, I ask him to just replaced it, but he refused it. So I followed his instructions to just drove around to recharged the battery. But only after around 30-40mins of driving, my car suddenly completely stop in the middle of highway and I can't turn it back on. I almost got an accident because of that, and I had to call a tow truck, and have my car towed to lute riley. And at the end, they gave me a new battery. If they just gave me a new battery earlier, because mine still under warranty, it will save me a lot of trouble. I LOST A LOT OF TIME, I CAN'T WORK, I ALMOST GOT AN ACCIDENT, AND I LOST MONEY BECAUSE I HAVE TO CALL A TOW TRUCK!!!!
And that timmy guy, doesn't even seems to care and feel responsible for his unskilled mistake. I will never go back to lute riley again for service, because I felt customer satisfaction is not important in here anymore. Me and my family own 4 honda cars, and from now on I will never bring those car to lute riley.
STAY AWAY FROM LUTE RILEY SERVICE!!!

I found the perfect car at an incredible price, and I got in and out of there in no time at all. It only took me 3 hours for EVERYTHING... the last car I bought took all day. I couldn't be happier, I would recommend everyone try this place at least once. (=

I bought my first accord back in 01 and had a great experience. I have always used there service department which i have never had a problem with. My accord went to my son and i needed a new one and after reading all these reviews I must say it did make me a little scared. Since i bought from them before i decided to give them a chance. I am glad I did! I had another great experience, and will continue to buy my vehicles from Lute Riley.

Beware of picking this place for service. I took my car there and they weren't able to find the original problem I brought it in for.....but they were able to find at least 4 other things wrong with the car. I maintain my car very well so I was surprised to hear all of the "wrong" things with it, so I had it checked by another mechanic. He couldn't find any of the fixes they recommended.... none of it was true. Also, this place charges $45 for an oil change and then tries to get you to sign up for a free one after you buy several.....it's not worth it. I'm never going back to this place. The sad thing is, they probably do this to everyone....even grandmas.....and that's just wrong.

I bought a used Honda from this dealership $1500 over the market value in the hope that I could trust the car when I buy it from a Honda official dealership. But it was an awful mistake! The car had a lot of problems and they didn't tell me a word about it. The power lock didn't work and the engine light went on after only 80 miles. When I asked them why they didn't tell me about the problems, they replied they did'nt know and they did nothing about it!!! They are a bunch of liars and cheats who only after your money and don't care about you and your safety.
NEVER EVER GO TO THIS PLACE!

My husband and I bought a 2007 Toyota Yaris this spring (2009). The price was ok, and we put $1500 down. We signed the financing contract but when we got home and looked at it very carefully-- and I mean carefully, embedded in the document was an extended warranty. Instead of applying our $1500 to the principle balance of our loan, they "sold" us an extended warranty for exactly $1500 dollars! We called them immediately and they told us they would take it off, as we had not been told of this. We even went back the next day and signed a document and they gave us a receipt saying it would be removed. It has been 7 months and to date nothing has been changed. The worst of it is we are "in limbo" without a warranty and not having our down payment applied to our financing-- which was through their own "bank." Be ware of scams like this and read the super, and I mean super fine print!

My girlfriend and myself went to Lute Riley Honda in Richardson to see about purchasing a used car. We met with a salesman and he informed us that before he could speak to us about purchasing a car, I had to sign an ??agreement? that stated that if the both of us agreed upon a price, I would purchase the car. I told him I really didn??t see the need to sign this ??agreement? but he said if I didn??t, he could not show us any cars.

I reluctantly signed the ??agreement? only because my girlfriend found a car she liked. We then started negotiations on the price. He kept pulling the old routine of going back to the manager when I made counter-offer to their ??final price?. I was getting tired of this and finally when it became apparent we would not agree on price, we got up to leave.

As we were walking out, I saw the salesman speaking to his manager who I later found out was Troy Woods. As we walked outside, Troy Woods came after us. It was night time and we had just stepped out of the building and he followed us outside. He walked toward us in a threatening manner and he started talking to me in a very loud voice, angry voice.

He said I had signed an agreement to purchase a car and now I was backing out of our ??agreement?. I told him that we had not agreed upon a price so I was not bound to buy anything. He stared yelling at me, telling me my word was no good and generally doing his best to harass us and embarrass me in front of my girlfriend, which I think was his main intention.

I could not believe someone that represented a company would act in this threatening, harassing manner. As you could imagine, I was very angry. The next day I sent a letter to Lute Riley Honda about what had happened. They responded to my letter basically defending his harassing behavior as being an aggressive sales manager.

I would advise anyone looking to purchase a car to avoid this place unless you want to be forced to sign an ??agreement? and then verbally harassed and embarrassed if you don??t purchase a car. I have never heard of a car dealership pulling this kind of unethical sales tactic.

Wow, how much worse can it get? My wife and I called ahead of time and asked if they had any used trucks, the salesperson on the phone told us that they had several. So we brought both of our cars to Lute Riley to get them appraised and possibly spend $9000 cash on a used vehicle. They took our keys and left us waiting for nearly two hours. During that time we were not shown any cars, all the sales-people ignored us except a nice guy named John Miles (but he was a new car salesman). After 90 minutes I asked for my keys back and told them that I was leaving and the salesman pleaded with us to stay. He was telling us that he would get us some "wild deals". We waited longer and the salesman finally took us to see the used cars. I asked him if they had any trucks in their inventory and he told me that they had only "one". And it was far too overpriced for me to consider. He continued to show us cars, trying to pressure me into making a decision for a higher mileage compact car. But I didn't want one because that's exactly what we were trading in. I waited and waited for our appraisal. We were told by the salesman that they were able to give "higher trade in values than most other dealerships. But after nearly four hours we found out that both of our cars (which we drive every day) were worth a combined total of $500 trade-in value. Yes, that's right. .. If you are trading in a 97 Ford Taurus with 88,000 miles and a 98 Ford Ranger with 119,000 miles, then this dealership will give you $500 in trade in value for both. Suffice it to say, we left. So if you think that this would be a positive experience for you, then I'd encourage you to head down to Lute Riley Honda. Have fun!

Pros: not sure. . . maybe the lunch that they provided?

Cons: Long wait, constant lies, broken promises

These people are just a bunch liars.
They will give you a quote over the phone and then you will never get the price they quoted you. Internet sales team is a real joke. Also they load vehicles with bunch of overpriced, ugly looking accessories which they also try to add to the price and which makes it 1500-2500 more than a sticker price. Wheel locks that Honda sells for $65 (when you can find aftermarket for $25) in Lute Riley will cost you $295. Same factor you can apply to everything else they sell. Never will step into this place again!!!

I called several Honda dealerships in the metroplex to get a price quote on a New Honda Accord. What I like about Lute Riley's staff is that they are honest upfront. They shared all the tricks that other dealerships try to pull, but I didnt pay attention at first. I was just looking at the sale price. i went to other dealerships and they added $2500-$3000 after market equipment which ultimately raised my price. That's what Lute Riley warned me about. So went a head and bought from Lute Riley. They have the best Management Team.

I've had my Civic Hybrid since 2002; I originally bought it at Lute Riley. During that time, Steve Spade, in the service department, has been a tremendous help. He is unfailingly courteous, respectful and prompt. He keeps a record of our transactions, and is always ready with the record when I arrive. Steve answers his phone and returns messages within hours; and when I turn my car over to him, I am sure it is cared for as if it were his.

Steve always makes me feel the car is in competent hands; I trust the dealership, knowing they have such an employee.

My experience with Lute Riley was totally opposite. On the way to another place recommended by our friends, I stopped at Lute Riley to look for a used car. The salesman (Khan) really conned us into buying a Honda Accord 2004 (total cost $17,000) car with all the promises to fix things like body scratches, suspension, brake (grabbling), etc. He was practically begging us using the common Asian heritage as a hook. After signing the papers, they completely changed their tune and giving us a hard time. On top of that, I was out of town and when my wife went to the place next day with her friend, the people at Lute (almost all the sales people we faced were named KHANS) completely ignored her and refuse to even talk to her. After I came back from my trip, I went with her. After a long battle with the KHANS, they took the car with a promise to fix all the things listed as a pre-sale requirement. Few days later, they called my wife saying that everything is fixed. But to our dismay, we noticed that most of the things were not fixed as promised. When I called the service man (not KHAN. but CHEEK for a change), he talked rude and almost hung up on me saying things like: ?I am the last person who can help me in this dealership. Do whatever you want. Take it or leave it. This is the best we can do?, etc. Overall, it did not sound like I am the customer and they are the vendor. I have to be at their mercy for the things they need to fix as a pre-sales requirement.

THAT PLACE IS HORRIBLE., ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A NON-WHITE CUSTOMER. YOU WILL BE BETTER OFF STAYING AWAY FROM THAT PLACE, ESPECIALLY FROM THE ?KHANS?. THEY ARE WORSE THAN CAR DEALERS! (NO PUN INTENDED). THEY ARE ?CONMEN? TRYING TO SELL ANYTHING WITH A PROMISE THAT CAN BE BROKEN THE MINUTE YOU SIGN THE PAPERS. ?BEWARE OF LUTE RILEY KHANS (AKA ?CONS?)

My car was totaled by someone driving while talking on a cell phone. I had looked at the redesigned Honda Civic online and wanted one, but wasn't planning to buy a new car for a few years. But in September 2005 I had to buy a new car and that's what I wanted. The problem was that none had been delivered to the Dallas metro area yet. Marc Dupuy at Lute Riley search around and found one he could get in for me, so I was the first to get one of those really cool coupes in Dallas. Whee! :) The experience was great. They explained every little thing and didn't treat me like a stupid woman. Because the car was so heavily desired, they wouldn't budge on the price, but they were very flexible on the financing and went out of their way to beat the financing I had prearranged with another bank before I went in. Service has been pretty good, except for a nasty issue with their body shop. Please see my review on the Lute Riley Body Shop and STAY AWAY. Otherwise, I think you'll have a good experience with the dealership. Just take the car someplace else if something cosmetic happens to it.

Pros: Flexible and Fair

Cons: Really BAD Body Shop

.

I have bought three cars from this dealership and they are the best around! I trust them and would tell the world at how fair they are and how nice they treat people. This is the best place to buy a Honda, hands down!

PROS: Fair, which is rare
CONS: NONE
