It's hard to find a good Cajun restaurant. This is the best one I've been to in California. Nothing can beat the food in New Orleans, but I'd say Creola's dishes are more authentic than ones in other restaurants such as Gator's in San Mateo. When I went to Creola a couple of months after my visit to New Orleans, I felt like I was back in N.O.!

Creola is a wonderful find in San Carlos right off the side of the road. Their crawfish hush puppies, bread pudding, and all the entrees are simply wonderful. The prix fixe lunch specials here are a great deal and fill you up just enough for lunch time. The owner and chef will chat with patrons and he is such a nice person; service here also is great. I haven't come here and been disappointed before. It's a great place for meals with friends.

Creola is the best food from New Orleans in the Bay Area. The jambalaya, the gumbo, the bread pudding all are delicious. The service is excellent, the waiters are very polite with the customers, the food portions are just right as well as price. The ambiance is unique and relaxed, the decoration is beautiful. Oh! And I forgot, this place is excellent choice for that special occasion, like anniversaries, marriage proposal, I find it very romantic!!!. I will definitively recommend it to fine food lovers.

My husband and I went to New Orleans for our honeymoon and enjoyed the food tremendously, especially the bread pudding. We were very excited when we found Creola. We read many reviews and thought it would be a great experience. The restaurant is nice, but very very dark. Somewhat uncomfortably dark. And even when we had reservations, we still had to wait at least 45 minutes. They were not organized at all. The service was okay, not great. The menu sounded nice, but on the pricy side, where the portions were pretty small. Nothing like the huge portions in New Orleans that you can share. We had the jambalya which was a bit dry and alligator medallions, okay. We also had bread pudding. I was very disappointed. It tasted nothing like the original one in New Orleans. It was very sweet and had a very jello-y topping. Overall, it was ok, but overpriced and not too authentic.

If you are thinking about going to New Orleans because you enjoy the food but can't afford the trip, come to Creola where you can enjoy some excellent food and most of those favorites that you associate with eating on Bourbon Street. The service is nice and the prices are not cheap but it can be a great experience if jimbalaya, red beans and rice, gumbo, etc are among your favorite dishes.
