"Seattle's Best Moroccan Restaurant" Friends of Morocco, Spring 2005 If you live in the Northwest you have to check out Kasbah, Seattle's best Moroccan restaurant. Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood on the outskirts of Ballard, the place is all done up with the usually fancy ponges, drapey fabric and ornate tables but somehow it still feels homey and relaxed. It's the sort of place where you could sit and drink mint tea for hours and their food is fantastically authentic. Try out the Kasbah D'yaffa Feast, the 5 course dinner. It begins with soup, salad and b'stilla. You have a choice of dinner entree, ending with desert and mint tea. There is a great selection of beer, wine & spirits. Enjoy live belly dancing every Friday and Saturday night. Kasbah Moroccan Restaurant is the perfect place for a romantic dinner for two or for a larger group of friends.
Great place to have Valentines dinner
by Sheila B.
My husband surprised me with dinner here. I enjoyed the authentic decor and the unique experience. We had the "feast" which is a great 5 or 6 course meal. Watch for the belly dancer, too. The food was delicious and I also liked the music.

I attended the Kasbah feeling great and warmed up to the enviroment inside. The food smelled and tasted great. The flavor was perfect and just right to get you eating more. The service kept you in your seat. The waiter was welcoming and was checking in on us to see if we were doing great and we were enjoying our time here. I highly recommend the Kasbah, you wont regret coming here, trust me its a journey you soon wont forget, I'm definitly coming back.

Truly delicious and authentic food , an experience to remember, two thumbs up!
by yaffacohen
What an experience, I could have easily been sitting in Casblanca. Between the exceptionally food, outstanding hospitality, excellent service, exotic spices, stimulating decor of tapestry and testures, along with the taste of jazzman tea, smell of rose water, and the sight and sound of their belly dancer , we felt a thousand miles away from Seattle. What a treat! I went with my friend from Morocco (who is very particular about his food) and rated the food and experience a Top 10, highlighting how authentic and genuine everything was. Kasbah is diffinitely a place to come back too and recommend to others!!
Pros: an authentic experience

Kasbah Leaves me BREATHLESS!
by BeautifulOnes
I attended a function at Kasbah a couple of days ago and my experience left me BREATHLESS! From the perfect decor, sensuous smells, mouth watering food (the lamb just falls off the bone), and stellar staff...I have not had such a stimulating experience at a restaurant in a very long time. To top the evening off, Kasbah also had a Belly Dancing that evening. The Belly Dancer was beautiful, engaging, and an obvious pro! The group did not want our magical night to end.
Breathless and pleasantly surprised!
Pros: Food, Price, Decor, Belly Dancer, Service, Parking
Cons: Nada!

Simply Amazing
by AmbeerW
When me a my friends entered the Kasbah It was amazing! Me and six of my closest friends dined at the Kasbah for my Sweet Sixteen. We took the five course meal which was the most delicious meal ever. We started out with soups then the salad and the b'stalla. All of it was delicious I ordered the chicken with apricots and my friends ordered either the Lamb or Bruchette I tried all of it. I was so happy that I got to have my sweet sixteen at the Kasbah! I totally recommened it to anybody who wants to try something new!

My favorite restaurant!
by jasmine10
kasbah is awesome! . I went for a friend's birthday dinner and we had a lovely time. The ambiance of the place is great. The food is absolutely delicious- you must try the lamb . The wait staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. It was just a lovely night and the ambiance of the place really made it great. And while not dirt cheap, it's definitely affordable. This is the kind of place that people search for in Seattle . I will definitely be back.
Pros: beautiful atmosphere, wonderful food

What a waste!
by eatingclub
I visited the place with a group of friends, so I got a chance to taste at least 4 different entrees, the food was inedible tasted stale and was not even warmed up, the server was rude and could not be bother to check how we are doing even though the place was quiet empty.
Bottom line the food was absolute garbage and overpriced, the service was terrible.
Don't waste your time and money
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything

The decor was gorgeous. excellent food Every dish is more exciting than the last and culminates with delicious mint tea but the key is to relax and enjoy the experience. Our waitress was great! She was so nice... They did an excellent job on a very busy evening Great for a large group or party. You're paying for the experience and very reasonable for all the food you get (they are happy to give you a box for all the lef overs).

What a great place!
by Evldice
My wife and I use City Search quite frequently when we travel to find good dining experiences. This one was a home-run, subsequently being the catalyst for me writing this brief review. The service at Kasbah was fantastic! The food hot and tasty and truly Moroccan. Expect an explosion of flavors that American cuisine does not have. The five course meal is the way to go and will provide "a seam busting" amount of food. The ambience is truly middle-eastern with Moroccan music playing in the background. This is a five star - good ambience, service, food, and reasonably priced.
Pros: Good service, ambience, food, value.
Cons: Parking is limited

Great Experience, So-so food
by SalinaT
We made reservations for 6 on Saturday night for our 5 year anniversary. Seated quickly, great friendly servers. We only saw servers when they're seating others or delivering another course.
We had the "Feast". I chose the Honey Lemon Chicken, and spouse had the Beef Kabobs (they go by another name...). I was dissapointed that there was no seasoning on the dishes (like salt & pepper) nor were they available on the table. I was expecting an exotic flavor, or even a tiny bit of spice, after having a Moroccan's friends fish and rice at home. But this bland and "safe". Server forgot to bring out extra spices for husband's kabobs, but the meat was tender and served med rare (even though it isn't asked how you'd like your meat). Husband chowed down! Fruit dessert was a pear soaked in ??? - but whatever it was, it was sooooo good and refreshing! The jasmine, mint tea at the end was delicious as well. Perfectly sweetened.
Dancer arrived around 7ish. She had fun with everyone, moving throught both ends of the resturaunt, and showed what an art belly dancing is. Classy, and disciplined at the same time. One "bachelor" or "birthday boy", that could hardly stand on his own when he came in, forgot he wasn't at a strip club. But the dancer was gracious, and the manager professionaly had the guest mind his manners 'before' things got akward. Lots of talking and laughing heard from the other tables, so it's a family -friendly environment while still being romantic. We're bringing the kids next time. Dancer wasn't terribly skimpy - professional quality outfit, not like a Halloween costume.
Overall, ok, but bland food. Great experience, ambiance. Great decor. No parking lot, but plenty of street parking for our 6 o'clock reservation.
Pros: Smiling Service, Dancer, the light dessert, tea, great value, saffron rice
Cons: No salt/pepper/spices for meat.. couldn't taste lemon in lemon chicken

I came to the Kasbah awaiting for a normal meal, but i got so much more...i got a 5course meal and a delicious dessert! But not only that, i also got some entertainment...the belly dancer! The entertainment was the best part, the music was fantastic and the place deserves a highly recommendation! I also recommend going in big groups, dates, and bring your kids because they will enjoy eating with their hands. The Kasbah was great.
Pros: thumbs up!
Cons: Service is great

Good North African Food with a twist (your hands)
by wellcraft19
Be prepared to eat with your hands - just like sitting out in the desert around a campfire.
Went here (from Eastside) for our wedding anniversary and had a good evening. Food is OK/good, but could have more bite to it. It can be sort of bland if you get the wrong stuff.
Setting is awesome and "mingling" with fellow diners is encouraged, so if you're looking for solitude, maybe this is not the place. Belly dancing was a nice twist and she was good, maybe a tad too lenghty, but heck, this is after all a Moroccan place. We have far too few of "true" authentic food outlets up here. Too much have been "muricanized" to fit our tastes and desires.
Wine was - happy to see - also Moroccan. Did not see any algerian wines, but would have ordered that since they tend to be a bit "heavier" and "earthier" (drier) for their reds - w/o wopping prices.
I'd come back again, but it is far away from us....
Pros: Dining Experience w/o being robbed
Cons: Location, some of the dishes are bland (when one expect them to havbe some bite)

Good atmosphere, mediocre food
by jkollin
The atmosphere is pretty cool in an over-the-top kind of way, but the food is loaded with sugar and uses frozen vegetables. Definitely the worst Moroccan food I've had, certainly edible but nowhere worth $25 for the 'feast' they will twist your arm to order. I'd go there for drinks but I don't think that's an option. If you must go, the couscous was OK.
Pros: atmosphere, decor
Cons: food, cost, obsequious service

Enjoyable spot
by pinky65
This was by far one of the most enjoyable dining experiences we've had in such a long time. Exceptional Dining at reasonable prices! The food was great and the belly dancing was awesome. Allow plenty of time to enjoy your evening.

below average.
by llff
Did not meet our expectations. Service was not good, slow in an empty restaurant. Tried to be freindly, but did not. The food was below average meal. The price was too high for the food and the service. We will not go again and not to recommend this place to anyone.
Cons: bad service and below average food

A Shining Star
by kamkam
What a treat to find this place. The decor, music and food are a great blend that makes you feel you have been transported to Morocco. Beautiful crowd at night. Definitely check it out. Everything is so good, if it was located anywhere else, there would be lines out the door.

Authentically Moroccan
by snoopyy
Of all Moroccan restaurants on the North West, there is only one that seems to do it right, and that is Kasbah. I have been to Morocco several times and Kasbah is about as close as you can get to morocco without a hefty tag! What people fail to realize is the fabulous value this restaurant delivers. The food is great and simple, traditional Moroccan. Nothing fancy but everything tasty!

What good food!
by pgpg
I try to check out a new place every time I go out, but I can't stop going back to Kasbah. Every time is absolutely fabulous. From the time I entered the dinning room to paying for my meal, everything was fantastic. The first time I went with one friend, we ordered 5 course dinner thinking they would be the size of appetizers in most restaurants around here. We were shocked when we saw how large the portions were, and assumed we would take half home. Everything was so tasty; we polished off the whole table of food! Funny how food can bring you back!

Great place!
by pxpxt
Kasbah transported us right back to Morocco. The dining room is so warm it feels like youre in someones home. From the time we were greeted to the time we left the service was excellent. We loved our meal and even our 5 yr old ate the food! The owner came over and talked to us which made it really fun. The food, the people, and the warmth have made a regular customer out of us.
Pros: Food, service

Four of us went to the Kasbah tonight and it was amazing. The food was wonderful! We the feast and we each got a different entree and they were all great. On top of great food the atmosphere was enchanting. I've never been to morocco but I felt like I was there. Belly dancing was fantastic I recommend going on a night when they are dancing and reservations are a good idea. Service was also very good. It is an experience for the eyes and ears and well as the mouth.
Pros: Friendly, good service, great atmosphere

What a night!
by archcape
Just got back from the Kasbah only minutes ago. The owner greeted us at the door and seated us promptly. The wait staff was friendly and attentitive. The chef did an fabulous job! The food was authentic! Make sure you're hungry as the reasonably priced five course dinner will definitely fill you up. Stay for the belly dancer as she involves the patrons and entertains all. I haven't eaten with my fingers since I was a toddler. How fun! Wonderful experience!
Pros: food, service, ambience

Great experience at Kasbah
by mamashou
We went to Kasbah to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday. There were eight of us so we decided to order the "feast" which costs $25 per person and were so glad we did. The food exceeded our expectations and there was a ton of it, the service was excellent and to top it all, the belly dancer who entertained us was absolutely wonderful. The staff was courteous and friendly. Everyone in our party enjoyed themselves. We will definitely go back.

Agreeing with some of the other reviews, going to this restaurant is like traveling to a far away and exotic place - just by stepping through the front door. Everything about this place is simply amazing, the atmosphere - the food - the service.
It is a place to spend a long and lingering evening with friends or your loved one(s). In my opinion - allow at least 2 hours for dinner and take advantage of the $25 feast. I had the Chicken w/Apricots as my main course, but also was able to sample the Kasbah Couscous and the Lamb w/Eggplant, which my friends had ordered. The flavors in every dish I tried were wonderful and sometimes new and interesting. My absolute favorite was the appetizer B'stilla!
I can't wait to "travel" there again.
Pros: Ambiance, Food, Affordable

Fabulous!
by anitaross
This restaurant has the best food and the most beautiful design and decor of any Moroccan restaurant I've ever experienced. Even the menu is gorgeous! We've dined there three times, and everything we've tried has been outstanding. The atmosphere is warm and relaxing, the service has been uniformly gracious; and they feature bellydancers on the weekends (Thurs - Sat). Street parking was ample. Even when full and busy, it has never been noisy, and there is a tent room that is perfect for a private party. One caveat: There are screens in one of the rooms that create intimate areas for small groups, but make it difficult to see much of the bellydancing. The other room gives more opportunity to see the dancers. Reservations are a good idea, especially on the weekend.

WOW - great find!
by dclark05
I was completely blown away. Stepping in off 85th, I thought I had left Ballard and entered Morocco. We were seated in the Tent room, complete with waiters in authentic dress & beautiful brass tables. Music and belly dancers added to the ambience. We had the "Feast"(only$25), a full five course meal. Each course only got better. The mint tea is a must - all four of us got soemthing different and we all shared. I can't remember the names of what we had, but nothing was below fantastic. Even the Owner came out to make sure we were happy. As we left, we were already planning our return.
Pros: Ambience, Food, Price
Cons: Parking on street, park in Safeway lot
