I visited Viva Day Spa for a Salt Body Glow treatment. Let me first say that I was in the spa for a total of 35 minutes including a shower and checkout! The service did not come with the ""scalp massage"" or ""hot towel treatment"" indicated in the description. This service basically consisted of being half heartedly slathered in scrub for 10 minutes and then taking a shower. Something I could accomplish at home with a much better smelling Bath and Body Works product. When the masseuse greeted me she started by asking me what treatment I wanted and then what scent I would like her to use, both of which I indicated to the receptionist when I called to schedule the appointment. This may be a little knit picky but it speaks to the cold service I feel I received, she wasn?t prepared or didn?t bother to ask the receptionist what service I was receiving; I felt I was being rushed the whole time and it was FAR from being any where near a relaxing experience. I honestly just feel genuinely ripped off for the amount of money I paid to this salon for such a terrible (and short!) experience. The reason I gave two stars is because the waiting room ambience was very nice and calming and the receptionist was friendly.

I recently relocated to Austin and wanted to treat myself to a little mini spa day. Viva's location was perfect and their prices were very affordable, so I decided to give it a whirl.

It. Was. Awesome! I bought the Summer Glo package, which included sauna, 60-minute swedish massage, hydrating detox body wrap, foot scrub, dry brush, and mint scalp treatment. I have been to spas at the Four Seasons (around the US), the Ritz, and various other upscale locales, and my experience at Viva was the best I've experienced. Hands down. (No pun intended.)

The spa itself was beautiful. The waiting area (called the Genie in a Bottle Room, I believe) was gorgeous and I was instantly offered hot tea and/or cucumber water. My practitioner was Michelle, and she's WONDERFUL. I really liked that I had one person taking care of all my services, and she was great about offering little customizations to make my package more tailored to me based on my needs, the time of day, and my aromatic/sensory preferences. She was so intuitive.

I've never done the sauna before massages, or at all, actually. It made such a difference in my experience and was a great way to relax and get in a zen state of mind before my treatments, not to mention loosening up my muscles and kicking off my detox. My only complaint about the whole experience is that the sauna was located right across the hall from the Genie room, and there was a fairly large group of young ladies there on that Sunday afternoon. They were talkative and I really didn't have any way to tune them out. I think it's be totally kosher to inquire about whether or not any large groups will be present before scheduling your appointment, and I'm sure the staff would have asked the gals to keep it down had I said anything.

This place just really pays attention to details and makes you feel like you're the most important client on the premises. I would definitely recommend taking the extra time to unwind and do sauna before doing any of their services so that you can really get the full spa experience, even if you're just doing a massage or other single service. But the package was REALLY affordable and a great way to get a taste for their services. I will definitely be back!!

Let me first be clear that I am reviewing the Lamar location.

I am from out of state and had given my MIL a gift certificate for her birthday last year after reading reviews of local salons. She used it for a massage and loved it, she has since returned for more massages and even took her sister for a massage when she was in town for a visit. With how happy they were I was quite excited to book two deluxe pedicures for us when I got into town.

Upon arrival we were greeted and offered refreshments. The staff was very friendly and helpful while we waited, especially the girl working the front desk, very personable! The disappointment came with the actual pedicure experience, I was really looking forward to being pampered and doted on a bit but this wasn't really the case. And hey, I have two rambunctious toddlers that I need a break from so maybe my expectations were a bit high.

Now don't get me wrong the ladies that worked with us were very nice, but they were very quiet and they never even introduced themselves. Once seated they got right to work. It was a few minutes in that I thought Um, aren't we supposed to be unwinding in these over sized chairs with a nice glass of wine and rich, melt in your mouth chocolate? So I asked if this was the case and my girl left, returning with two individually wrapped chocolates -they were good mind you, but again, I felt this was very impersonal. A few minutes later my girl again left and came back with two glasses of wine- served in glass tumblers.

Both ladies did a good job shaping, filing and polishing but my ""foot massage"" was pretty much just lotion being rubbed on my legs and feet. No actual foot massage took place.

When all was said and done, they did do the work that we needed. No more dry skin or calluses and nice new pretty shaped nails with polish. But I can't help but feel disappointed with the lack of personal service. I was no more pampered at this spa than had I gone to a quicky walk in nail salon.

For the the cost of the deluxe pedi and the big tip I left- I feel that more friendly, personal service should have been given, that's why I said no to a cheaper nail salon and wanted to go to a real spa! (I'm a big tipper,I can't help it but often regret it after the fact.)

Here are a few unsolicited suggestions: Greet your clients with a friendly hello, handshake and introduction. Offer refreshments before the pedi begins.(Yes I was offered in the waiting room by the receptionist but I wasn't interested at that time.) Place the chocolates in a pretty basket and let the clients choose- much more personal/pampering than simply being handed a couple of pre-wrapped chocolates. Lastly, serve the wine in actual wine glasses!

All in all I cannot recommend the deluxe pedi if you are actually hoping for a pampering experience. Stick with the basic if you want a great pedi and add on the extra filing if needed. To finally have a baby sitter(thanks to grandpa) and get out for some pampering is a VERY rare occasion for me. I was really looking forward to it and well, this was just disappointing.

I am so glad that Nicola let me know she moved there way back when because my best friend and I have gone to her for years, now that she is at Viva, it's even better! Viva has a wonderful and relaxing atmosphere; the staff offers tea or water, whatever you want. The services are outstanding! I recommend Viva to my customers (I work in the jewelry bus) for mani/pedi and relaxing massages. You should go there.

I went for one of the spa packages here about a month ago in the midst of a stressful time at work. It was a great value and every aspect of the spa was extremely pleasing and soothing. It's beautiful inside and out. My therapist was cheerful and quiet and skilled. There are lovely amenities like heated massage tables, cold peppermint towels in the sauna, body products that are made on-site from good quality ingredients -- attention is paid to details. I will definitely go back and would recommend this place for spa services.

The only small drawback is that it's a little cramped in the reception area. I wish it were bigger and I wish there was a place to sit and re-adjust for a moment before leaving.

WOW! I had a fantastic time at this Spa. Sabrina Ewing gave me the best eyebrows I have ever had! She was gentle, confident & talented to boot! I've had my eyebrows waxed for over 18 years & she is my new girl forever! I booked a facial with her for my sun damaged skin, and I am also planning on having brazilians done there from now on!

Me and my husband did the delicious duet for our anniversery. It was probably the best thing we have ever did together. We have three children and never have time for us so I can't express to you how much this helped us reconnect. It was truly a special moment, a relaxing moment and so worth every penny. From the time we walked in we were pampered with wine and chocolates. And when we left they even gave us a gift bag with goodies. I recommend this for any couple trying to release stress and reconnect. Or you just need some peace of mine time.

As a man, I do not feel uncomfortable at Viva. I have been getting sugaring hair removal service from Barbara for 11/2 years. The experience has been fantastic! I highly recommend Barbara to anyone wanting quality service.

I've been to Viva on a number of occasions - mostly for massages - and have always been pleased with the level of service and attention I've received. I got a Swedish massage this Saturday and I had a great experience. My massage therapist was really helpful and even took the time to show me some stretches I could do between treatments to help with some tension in my shoulders and neck. I love sitting in their lounge area and relaxing with a cup of tea. The location on South Lamar has a sauna which I want to try next time because I've heard it warms your muscles and helps you relax more for your massage. Overall, this is a beautiful spa and the rates are very for fair for the service you receive. You will not be disappointed!

Okay, ladies. Here?s the scoop. I highly recommend Elisha at Viva. I have very sensitive skin and was never much of a ?facial person? until Elisha worked her magic on me. Now, if I?m thinking about a spa service, that?s what I want?a facial by Elisha. She has a really amazing command of massage and pressure points on the face, combined with her wonderful-smelling lotions and potions and sweet, calm energy?I feel glowy for days after. She takes a beauty treatment and makes it a really beautiful experience. Seriously. Elisha. Go see her.

I love going to VIVA. The staff, atmosphere and service is always above and beyond! There are a lot of spas in town, but I don't feel like they all cater to my needs as well as VIVA does. I think they do a great job -- they deserve much praise for that. I go to Michell for massage and Heather for facials. I've tried other therapists in the past and they were all really good as well... BTW The seasonal packages they offer are the way to go!!! Try it and see for yourself!

I have had massage all over the world and by far the least impressive was Viva Day Spa. They charge way more than they are worth. I received a massage by a very amature therapist that informed me she had only recently finished school. The prices do not reflect the low level of experience and service I received. I think Viva is more interested in being trendy than offering good quality massage. Maybe it was my bad luck that day but I will not go back at $95. It's not worth it!

I have been to Viva Day Spa twice now and just love, love, love the service, treatments, the house (very homey!), and pricing of the packages. Everyone is super nice and the treatments are just wonderful and thoroughly done. I have had a massage, body wrap, facial, and mani/pedi done and felt completely renewed and rejuvenated after my treatments. I have had one of the best massages I've ever had from here. It was also the first time I had extractions done and the aesthetician made me feel very comfortable. Their scheduling is also very flexible. It really is an unpretentious and laidback place, I felt instantly comfortable the moment I stepped inside. The aestheticians and massage therapists are very warm, sensitive to your needs, and professional. Price-wise, I would take advantage of their packages. I have looked around and Viva definitely has the best offerings for the price!

I am now a fan of Viva! I went to the downtown location over the weekend to redeem a gift certificate for a facial and was really impressed with the whole experience! My husband really got it right with this gift certificate! The place was really beautiful and the employees were really nice and experienced. I learned a lot about my skin and left looking 5 years younger. NO JOKE! It's been several days and people are STILL asking me what I did. I am scheduled to go back in for a spa package with my husband (my Christmas surprise to him)....If it is anything like the facial I will be a regular. Give them a try!

I was just there this week. It's been a long long build up of inner spiritual struggles not to mention my projects at work and home (i don't even want to think about). I booked my massage a few days in advance after hearing from a dear friend that the new location on Lamar was just what she needed. OK, so I love my girlfriend and yes we're like Thelma and Louise but when it comes to spas I've been to several here in Austin, so I'm not that easy to pamper ( i love this word).

My wife and I took a day off to treat ourselves. We were recommended Viva from our neighbors. So we took a Saturday afternoon to get pampered. We had an absolute great time. I got the special mens package and my wife did a three treatment special. The staff were professional and pleasant to talk with. I would recommend Viva to anyone looking to melt some stress away.

Ending a visit to Austin with my Viva experience (Lamar location) was the best thing I could have done for myself! It was a momentous occasion for me -- the birth of a grandchild coinciding with the milestone of losing 100 pounds of excess weight -- and marking this with Viva was the piece de resistance!

My Summer Glow package was beyond words, wonderful. For some reason I'd been feeling nauseous for a couple days and also very stressed about our upcoming move. My boyfriend dropped me off feeling whoozy and drained. He picked me up and he laughed that I ""could barely speak above a whisper"". I couldn't stop smiling, felt radiant, calm, delightful, beautiful, relaxed, fantastic. I even gave my masseuese a hug!! I had to. And as soon as I get my dream house I plan to add one of those dry saunas you have; I'd never experienced anything quite like that.

Dear ViVa Day Spa,
I had a waxing treatment today with Jenny and it was wonderful. Your spa is decorated very nicely in a relaxing and serene style. Everyone that assisted me, from making my reservation to the actually treatment, was wonderful. Its very hard to find good customer service and your employees are all awesome. I will highly recommend your spa and services to everyone I know.

Thank you for the great experience.

In sum, I've had spa retreats and massages before but this one --with your incredibly well-chosen interior design, comfortable atmosphere, A++ service(s), yummy tea, and general old fashioned tender loving care = best of, hands down.

I am always nervous to get a facial from a new person because I A. Hate when I pay a lot for no results and B. Who knows if the person really knows what they are doing! Katie at Viva Day Spa has assuaged my fears. She is the first person I have wanted to go to CONSISTENTLY, ever. I have had about 4 or 5 appointments with her and every one has begun to heal my skin and unclog my pores-- not to mention take care of it for the future. I look in the mirror and it is like a miracle has occurred. I do not have terrible skin-- no severe acne or anything-- but I do tend to have problem 'spots'. She really knows what she's doing and we have spoken about her experience and education. She is a sweet and intelligent gal. Go get a facial!

Pros: I have never had such a GOOD experience with facials

Cons: Save up! This is not a cheap joint.

I am a long-time customer and highly recommend Viva Day Spa for their outstanding customer service, quality spa packages, reasonable prices and relaxing atmosphere.

Pros: Creative spa packages, reasonable prices, laid-back atmosphere

Cons: The appearance is less fancy than some spas but this may add to the laid-back atmosphere.

I am a long-time Viva customer and am continually impressed with their great customer service, creative spa packages and low-key and low-stress environment -- I would recommend Viva to anyone seeking a massage or facial in a comfortable place with friendly service staff.

This spa has the warmest staff and best services in Austin. I received the Summer Glow spa package and my husband received the mens spa package and we were both impressed. I left feeling renewed and well cared for and he was a converted to a true spa lover. You will love them and their services!

I bought gift certificates for my friends and myself to enjoy a few hours at the spa and coordinated services so we could go all end at the same time and go to my house for a glass of wine. After my massage, I asked the masseuse if I could lie there for a few minutes and she said no, I had to get up immediately and get to my manicure appointment which was waiting for me. I quickly dressed only to be parked in a waiting room where I waited nearly a half hour with no explanation. My friends were done and ready to go when the manicurist finally showed up. This is totally inexcusable for a spa and needless to say, totally blew away the short-lived pleasure of the massage. The staff acted like it was no big deal and one mentioned that they were new and not that well coordinated yet. I recommend you not waste your money at Viva Day Spa.

My visit to the new location of the Viva Spa on my vacation in Austin

My visit to the new location of the Viva Spa on my vacation in Austin

Pros: Go for it.

.

I went to Viva's new location near Town Lake last Thursday and left feeling like I was floating on a cloud. I got a 90 minute swedish massage and my massage therapist, Kim, did a wonderful job. The staff was wonderful - very warm and inviting and they gave me a complete tour of the new facility. It's much larger than the other location - a little more upscale and urban but still very inviting. Kim was great and asked me about what I was looking to accomplish in the session. She asked me a few times throughout the massage how I was doing and how the pressure was to ensure I was enjoying the massage. I left completely relaxed and rejuvenated. I also picked up a beautiful gold necklace by a local designer at the front. It's completely unique and I've already gotten a ton of compliments on it. I will definitely be back in another month for another massage. I want to try the hot stone one next time!

Last Sunday I went to the new Viva Day Spa on S. Lamar and it blew me away! I've gone to the original location on a number of occasions for fantastic facials (ask for Danielle!), but wanted to check out the new Viva. It didn't disappoint. My 90 minute Swedish massage was absolutely fabulous. The therapist was extremely attentive about my specific needs (a really bad lower back) and I felt amazing walking out of there. The friendly laid-back staff, beautiful new location and amazing service were all tops. I've been singing its praises all week!

I've been to both of their locations and they are both wonderful. I highly recommend this day spa for relaxing and corrective body work. The atmosphere there is so serene and the people are so genuine and nice. I got a massage from Julianne and she was great! I had massages from other staff members there and they were all exceptionally good. I really appreciate both these spots as an oasis in the midst of my chaotic and hectic days - easy to get in and out , and they will always try their best to fit you in even at the last minute! I'm hooked on this spot!

Well I just hung up. I was on hold for 3 mins to make an apt for a leg wax. The phone rang for a long time, finally a woman picked up, asked me to hold, I hung up after waiting for 3 mins.

I just experienced Viva for the first time. The massage was excellent and the attention to detail was unexpected. I loved the chocolate and the cucumber water. I bought a beautiful necklace from a local designer that I am in love with. The person that booked me was very nice too.

I recently moved to New York and came back for a visit which would not be complete without a trip to Viva for a real massage and facial. It was great as usual and they told me about the new spa too. I am hoping to go there before I head back home. I wish you guys would open a Viva in New York. They need a little warming up! Viva reminds me of what all I miss about Austin; warm, friendly people, great service and great style.

This was less than I expected for the money. The quality of the services and the customer service were not that good. I have had way better massages for way less money.

These girls went to great lengths to make sure I was able to get in at the last minute and get exactly what I wanted. Great customer service...with lots of smiles. I will be back and will tell others.

I go to Viva regularly on 35th St. and decided to try the new downtown location. It was so nice and posh. The original is cute and down to earth and the new one is posh and urban. I received the Sweet Mamma Package and so did my mom. It was the best one yet. I especially liked the massage and the way my skin felt afterward. The people are just as friendly and warm (where do you find these people?)

These people really have service down. They know how to treat people so that they feel cared for. I have been here several times and I am always struck by how nice they are. They really seem to focus on friendliness and caring. The services themselves are great too.

The prices are very reasonable and the staff is always super! I have even recommended Viva to several friends who have enjoyed their experience as well.

They are so kind and helpful. I have had many spa experiences and Viva is one of the best. I went with a friend for her birthday and we were so happy with them. The pedicures we received lasted for many weeks(until my nails grew out and still did not ever chip) and the massages we excellent!

There's not many businesses you can go to and people know you by name. When I call to book my appointments I start get happier. That is before I even go in for a service. Just the idea of going there makes me feel better. They know how to treat people right and give the best services of all the spas I have been to. The people at Viva are Austin friendly and kind. Go and see for yourself! They will make you feel better too!

I fell like a new person from my last visit to Viva. We (my hubbie and I) both received a wonderful massages and fab facials this weekend and still have not stopped talking about it. The nicest people work here that can make anyone feel comfortable (even my hubbie). If you want to treat yourself or a loved one to a place that is comfortable and warm look no further. I especially loved the hot towels used during all my treatments-nice touch. Next time we will try a package!
