the management complained and got angry at our table for complaining. two visits and the seconed and last one was the worst.the music was extremely loud and it was hard to talk. the management said not want to turn it down and did. we got compensation for the continual rudeness of employees each visit.and decided we had enough with it. the female waitresses are rude to female tables. they talk back rude, interrupt, try to start fights with customers, yell at female customers, ask customers to give them tips, rush to get rid of female customers not busy at all,we saw waitresses brush food off tables onto the floor and not clean itup, gave wrong food to tables and not want to correct it,told not want to write down orders it is not a job requirement and did it anyway, walked away from customers in the middle of the meal and had to ask them to come back, walk away from customers while they are talking to them, not volunteer to give bill, come back to table to see if something else is needed,to give menu, give food, drink, napkins, and silverware. give rude looks and stop waiting on table no explination and had to call management for complaint.the food taken to the table not fully cooked, frozen foodthe hostess not want wait on female tables.

Rude management and waitresses. The manager would tell me I lied about rude waitress.I raised my voice at him and got a complimentary meal. I had the waitress removed from waiting on me. I complained about loud music. He said he not turn it down, though the manager did. The white, young, obese, blond hair waitress was rude. She was training a new employee while waiting on me. She would not volunteer to wait on me,bring menu, write down order she said she not want to do it,not come back to see if needed anything more, the orders were wrong continuallly and would not volunteer to correct, interrupt me,talk back rude, rush to get rid of me,give rude look, not volunteer to talk to me,not volunteer to bring me food, drink, silverware, napkins, walk away from me while talking to her,Had to ask her to come back to my table to get waited on,yell at me.She was only nice to male customers at tables. The restaurant was dirty.Employees would push food crumbs off tables onto dirty floors. And not clean it up. I heard the waitress complain customers are obnoxious and tip stingy.

I went here for the first time the day after Christmas. The service was outstanding and the food was good. I think the prices are a little high but all in all a good experience. I will be going back. They offer a Sunday brunch that I plan to try.

The food is excellent - fresh ingredients, good portions. The prices match the quality but are not outrageous. It's a great place for a special night out or a nice lunch. Not a cheap meal, but you get what you pay for. I'll definitely eat here again.

After two recent visits, this is now our favorite "nicer" style of restaurant. W-S is lacking in good restaurants that are nicer than your typical family style chain restaurants (like Chili's), and River Birch Lodge helps fill in the gap!

On our first visit, I ordered the Chevre Salad. I was not disappointed! The cheese was full of flavor. The salad was plentiful and tasty.

Our most recent visit was for Sunday brunch on January 4, 2009. For an appetizer, we ordered the smoked pimento cheese dip. It was served warm with both tortilla chips and crostini (I recommend the chips over the crostini). We dove in! For an entree, my husband had the lasagna, which was a very reasonable portion. Unlike some restaurants where the lasagna is more of a bowl of cheese, this lasagna had a plentiful, sweet meat sauce, as well as fresh mozzarella and perfectly cooked pasta. I loved my entree, which was the Robinhood Chicken Wrap, which comes with grilled chicken, feta cheese, spinach, spiced pecans, cranberries and a vinegrette. While the dressing was a bit heavy, it was still very good. We also had a delightful server, and our food arrived very quickly despite being crowded.

The kids menu is very impressive, as it has about eight different options for kids ranging from burgers to salmon. Our son ordered the kid's french toast sticks and bacon from the kid's brunch menu. The french toast was so yummy - I had to keep from eating it myself! The bacon was well cooked, and it was flat - evidence that a bacon press is used in the kitchen. As far as kids go, though, I would not be comfortable taking my young children here for a late Saturday dinner. This is definitely the kind of place that adults would like to come for a semi-quiet meal! However, we are very comfortable here at brunch and early dinners.

Oh, and one more thing - the entire restaurant, including the bar, is smoke free!!

Riverbirch Lodge is owned by the same family who owns Midtown Dessertery in Winston-Salem, but it's a much better restaurant. The atmosphere is wonderful, particularly in winter. There's a massive wood fireplace, huge wooden chandeliers, and heavy oak tables everywhere.

The menu is expansive, offering a wide variety of meals. Our favorites are the brie sampler appetizer, the chevre salads, and the lasagna dinner. It's fairly casual, but the prices reflect the quality of the food ($20 or so/person), and it's head-and-shoulders above the standard casual chain restaurant.

They also offer an excellent Sunday Brunch. I'd recommend reservations for parties of 5 or more.

Has everything youd want in a restaurant: service is friendly, outdoor seating, a bar, and great food. The wonderfully decorated wood lodge with beautiful iron decor creates a truly appealing and relaxing environment for lunch or dinner. The baked brie appetizer is absolutely marvelous and enough for a whole meal! But, dont forget to save room for dessert, if you are a chocolate lover youve got to try the molten chocolate lava cake! Yum!
