We rented the Dome and Caf for our wedding. It cost $1,000 just for just the rental. You don't get anything for this except access. You have to buy food and alcohol from their ??exclusive caterer? which is way over priced and you will not be able to do this for less the $1,500. Better way to go is just go get married why it??s open to the public ??it??s free? then go have your reception somewhere else that has better food and prices.

My son loves going here! They used to have small birds inside that he just adored. (not sure if they are still around) The plants and small waterway inside are just gorgeous! I love taking my son here and letting him wander around at his own pace. He loves to watch the fish in the small pond! Outside is just as beautiful, but it always seems that we go at a time when its best to stay indoors. Its great to feel like you are a world away. They even have a small gift shop available with books, toys, postcards. Its great. Along with that they have a small cafe as well.

The Des Moines Botanical garden is a neat attraction to visit in Des Moines that is very affordable. For $3 for adults and $1.50 for kids you can take a 45 minute tour of their beautiful indoor gardens. Take a look at the exotic plants and fruits that they are able to grow in the botanical garden that they would not otherwise be able to grow. (IE: the banana trees!) It's so gorgeous inside that it really looks like you are OUTSIDE.

The Botanical Garden is pretty neat to walk through. My girls enjoyed it. Adults are $4 and kids are $2. Admission is pretty cheap. The garden itself is nice, but if you take your time walking through and notice the different wildlife running free it is neat. We saw doves standing on the sidewalk and did get pretty close. There were quail in there too. I dont recall the other species we saw.

They are open daily and offer guided tours as well.
