Mt. hood meadows has some long very nice runs. It is the highest resort on Mt. hood so they have snow the longest. Just beware there is a small road up to the resort. if someone gets stuck because they are not properly prepared the drive is not fun.

We like going to Mr. Hood Meadows Ski Resort for the variety of runs that they have. There is something for everyone. The staff at the rental shop were helpful in getting us the right skis.

...but it's the only decent one next to the largest populous area in Oregon. It's the spot for all Portlanders because it's so close, but beware.... you will be waiting in the lift line for an average of 30 minutes each time you want to go back up!
The terrain is not very challenging, and the mountain face receives a strong wind which ices over the powder prematurely....They offer night lifts, but again..the lines are exceptionally long and very crowded. Prices are comparitive to other resorts in Oregon.

If the snow season is good, Mt. Hood Meadows can be the heaven for the lovers of winter activities. The kids can do the tubing, snowboarding, or the coached skiing. The lesson (3-day pack) is really a deal. Of course, it is not as world-class as Lake Tahoe, but the experience can be fun and rewarding because of its good coach and decent package.Of course, it is a short drive from the Portland city, another plus!
PROS: Good for family and beginners, nice and decent classes, close to the city
CONS: Not too exciting for the seasoned skiiers or snowboarders
