I gave this place chance after chance but it never improved. I boarded dogs there until I was told by another client one of my big dogs was in a wall kennel shorter than she was. I went to check. She could not stand up or turn around.
I had one problem after another with the care my dogs received.
My mother's dog was getting laser therapy for a lick granuloma. They burned her. She almost lost the leg. She was treated at Riverview for several weeks for the burn.
The office staff is as hateful as the vet.

I have had nothing but amazing results from all the staff at this vets office! To begin with my sister has had numerous incidence with her pets and Dr Nelson and Dr Rachel have always been optamistic about helping them. She has a cat that has literally surpassed her 9 lives thanks to them!!
When I got my puppy back in October the people I got her from told me she was 6 weeks old, come to find out she was only 3 weeks. She became very sick and I took her to another vet in Moody and they sent me home with some medicine but by that afternoon I knew if I did not do something else she would not make it through the night. So I took her to Dr Nelson and she gave her some IV fluids (Ali was very dehydrated and probably would not have made it) and some nausea meds, and gave me the options to take her home or let her stay over night. Dr Nelson left the IV in and I brought her home and the next morning took her back to the vet for more fluids and nuasea meds, and when I picked her up that afternoon she was a different puppy. Now I take both of my dogs there and they love the staff and Ali has to see everyone when she goes! SHe had only gaines 1 lb in 3 weeks (at 6wks old she wieghed3.6 lbs) now at 15 weeks she weighs a healthy 21 lbs. I owe it to the staff at croosroads, because if I had not listened to my gut instinct and just listened to the other vet my 4 children and I would not have our ALI. Ali is a blue pit and Buddy is a pit mix and they both are big babies. we rescued Buddy off the street a year ago and he had heart worms really bad and went through the treatments and is now heartworm free!!!

Crossroads Animal Hospital has been my vet for many years. Last year when we had to put my poor BooBoo to sleep the entire staff was so kind to me. They made the passing of BooBoo so much easier for me. They were very kind and understanding. A couple of weeks after they even sent me a sympathy card that each employee signed. To me this was very thoughtful. They went above and beyond the call of duty for me. I would recommend Crossroads to anyone looking for a compassionate hospital to take their pets to.

I have read some posts that are very disturbing to me regarding Crossroads Animal Hospital. I have first-hand experience on how the staff operate there. I have read some bad things about Dr. Nelson and her staff and know that none of this is true. Dr. Nelson and her staff are some of the most caring people that I have come across in my 35 years!

She is involved with more than 4 different rescues from multiple states that include Alabama and New York, she has taken in many strays, even though they are not a shelter.

She has helped me greatly when my dog had 8 puppies and all the puppies became very sick. She has come in after hours to help with the treatment of the puppies.

The staff are some of the friendliest I have ever know, the receptionist are sweet, the technicians are caring and helpful and the kennel staff take very good care of the animals while they are there for treatment or boarding. My animals love coming to Crossroads Animal Hospital.

I know quite a few clients that feel the same way and encouage people to post all the positive things that they have experienced at Crossroads Animal Hospital.

For the people that are posting negative comments, I have a hard time believing any of it. You unfortunately only hear negative and that's why I am posting something positive. I believe people bring bad things on themselves by having bad and selfish attitudes.

I know that they all do things together outside of work and if that is "cliquish" then I guess they are. I don't know that when an entire clinic takes a weekend vacation together with clients as well that it would be a defined as "cliquish."

I have worked at an animal clinic before where the doctors are only in it for the money and do not care about their clients or patients. I do not get that feeling from Dr. Nelson or her staff. She truely cares for her clients, her patients and her staff as well and will bend over backwards to help any one of them.

I find that when people have nothing better to do, they like to make other people lives hell! Well, people life is too short, so go out and get one!

I moved to Moody in 2006 and given the veterinary options I chose Crossroads Animal Hospital. My dog was very leary upon our arrival, but it was the vet. I oringinally was very satisfied with the services and staff. Over the years the level of service has declined and the availability of Dr. Nelson became less and less. In Dec of 2009 my dog became very ill and had to stay overnight for a few days. It took a real toll on me and I called daily to check in and see if he had improved or anything had changed. A young lady that worked the couter took a message for me around 11 am on the 2nd day and I asked that she have Dr Nelson call me to discuss and I was informed she would not be in that day. I called back the next day at 9 and was informed Dr. Nelson had not arrived yet but she still had my message. So I called at 1 when they reopened from lunch and was told that she just left for lunch and would call me whn she had a chance. I dont believe Desiree understood the severity of my concern and I told her to forget it I would just come by to get my dog that it had been 3 days and if nothing had changed I would rather them send him home with me to at least spend his last days with his family. She advised me to do whatever I felt was necessary. I went by that evening to find out more tests needed to be done and they could not perform them. I picked up my dog and had the tests done somewhere else. I received a bill for about $350 with no answers from Dr. Nelson's clininc. Since this incident my dogs have boarded but have not been treated for anything. I was given the script for my dog from there but was not given instructions for the amount of time needed to take it. I called 6 weeks out to make an appointment for a new CBC and the desk help was unable to comprehend what I was talking about as there were no notes inthe file for follow up. I took him to a new vet for a new CBC and discontinued meds.

When our dog Sophie became ill with hemolytic anemia, Dr. Rachel offered us no false hope but said she would do everything possible to save Sophie's life--and she did. With the help of prayers from all our friends and family, Dr. Rachel pulled Sophie through an illness that many dogs don't survive. Although Sophie's "pop pop" passed away last September, Sophie is still with me. Dr. Rachel and her staff are now like family. We love them all.

They treat my dog great and are so friendly and loving to him. They are very detailed and go over everything. Great price for bathing and grooming, cheaper then others I've seen for a large dog it's only like $35. I board my dog here, and go to the vet here. They send reminders of vaccines in the mail. Boarding areas are clean and have a back grass fenced area. The vets are both very informative and nice. Dr Leedy found a heart murmur in my newly bought puppy. I was glad to have a great vet and they referred me to a great vet cardiologist as well- Dr woods.

Everyone is so kind and helpful with all your pet care needs.

I adopted a Lab Mix from Crossroads. When she was brought to Dr. Nelson she was full of heart worms and was in near fatal condition. With Dr. Nelson and her teams' knowledge, love and support they brought her back to excellent health and I was able to adopt her. I am so grateful that she was saved as I can't imagine being without her!

I highly recommend Crossroads Animal Hospital for care, boarding, adopting or simply for friendly advice, they are outstanding.

Dr. Rachel Nelson is without a doubt the most concerned veterinarian I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I have seen her compassion first hand and would trust her with any animal. She has cared for my cats now for several years and they have never complained about the accommodations or treatment they have received. Dr. Nelson and her staff are beyone exceptional in their field.

PROS: staff, accommodations, office hours, reasonable rates
CONS: none

Dr. Nelson and her staff have been so kind and compassionate and have helped us tremendously. Thank goodness they moved to this area. I don't know what we would do without them.

PROS: They are our extended family and have taken such good care of our animals.

Crossroads is a great place to board your animal. They really seem to care about your animal (and I am sure they do) and they give you a feeling that your precious pet will be loved, fed and played with while you are away. The cost is reasonable too!!

Oh yeah..Dr Nelson is great also.

I can't say enough good things about this animal hospital. With an animal of my own that has horrible skin allergies, I tried 3 different vets until I found Dr. Nelson who helped me tremendously. She is a compassionate vet who loves what she does and it shows.

Somehow she's able to remember each and every animal that comes in her office and they seem to share a special bond with each other. My usually fearful dog marches herself right in the office knowing she'll be showered with attention and bribed with milkbones!

When searching for a vet in the Moody/Leeds area, look no further. Dr. Nelson - an Auburn vet school graduate - is the answer.

PROS: Wonderful vet - caring and compassionate.
CONS: NONE!
