The Paramount Theater

I had the opportunity to visit this theater during the SXSW film festival and it is absolutely beautiful. The chairs are a little small and if you have a large frame, you will probably be uncomfortable. The woodwork and lobby really feel like the old majestic theaters.

The Paramount is located downtown on Congress. They show movies, although not current movies. They show classics like Audrey Hepburn Movies. They host musicians and often have plays and musicals. A nice break from traditional modern day movie theatres.

We spent an anniversary night here and had an absolute blast. The throwback elegance of the place makes you feel like royalty from a different time. Be sure to eat nearby and walk over to get the full effect.

There is nothing more appealing in the summer in Texas than escaping the heat and watching a movie in airconditioning. Add to that a glass of wine with your popcorn and a cinematic classic and you have the Paramount Theater's movie experience. Oh , did i mention that they show most movies in double feature format? Or that the other movie goers are an absolutely pleasure? (you will not believe how funny or gutwrenching a movie can be until you experience the mass-emotion of this group!)

Don't let summer pass without seeing at least 2 shows at the Paramount. Get the schedule early so you don't miss an old favorite!
