Cutler's has a room dedicated to classical music, with its own sound system and an adorable resident cat named Wally. Their prices on used CDs are not as good as other stores I've shopped at, but their overall selection is excellent, the used bins throw up some fascinating things (thanks in part to the School of Music), and the clerks are very knowledgeable and enjoyable just to stand and chat with. The whole place has the vibe of people who know and love music, and also has an extensive and impressive selection of DVDs.

Cutler's has a decent selection of music across a variety of genres. However, their prices are ridiculous, perhaps because of their proximity to Yale. Their used CD section is a waste of space. In my opinion, all of those CDs should be put in a dumpster or given to the Goodwill, so don't expect to get lucky unless you're looking for some sweet Sister Hazel albums or really bad ska. In conclusion, go to Exile in Hamden for better prices and a good used selection.

I've been a long time 'Cutler's CDs' customer and I highly recomend them. Their cds are thoroughly organized, their prices are very decent (considering that these days they're competing with big national chains, etc), their personnel is highly knowledgeable and helpful, and they have a killer selection of used cds.

This is a store for the music fan who has indie tastes and a like of not-so-big / underground artists. So if you have a cd that you're hunting down and can't find it anywhere, chances are you'll find it at Cutler's.

Cutlers is a great alternative to the "mass" music stores. They are a smaller store in New Haven -- but for their size, they do have a wide selection of CDS. They have a wide array of alternative music as well -- it's not all pop and top 20. The store and staff have a very relaxed feel - but they are all knowlegable about music and willing to help when asked. They are conveniently located to the University and therefore often patronized by college kids . . . although locals do shop here as well. Prices are competative.

Cutlers is a nice alternative to the music superstores. For their size, they have a great selection of CDs. It's not all pop and top 20 -- they have a good array of alternative as well. The store and the staff are very laid back -- but knowlegable if you ask them. It's centrally located in New Haven -- very near Yale University -- so there are always college kids in there. They've been around forever -- so locals shop there too. Prices are competative and fair.
