We went last Tuesday evening for drinks and to scout the location for a possible holiday party. Turns out that the bar is too small for what we need. We spent most of our time though trying to get the attention of the bartender who seemed to have had one too many..... We decided not to order food and left hungry. We may return just to see if the food is as good as people say it is.

Very prompt on seating us upon our arrival no wait...which was great since this was a birthday dinner celebration. Great wine list but the wine we did order said the year 07 on the menu but our bottle was 05...didn?t bother too mention since we already started to drink it.
The service was impeccable very attentive.We started w/mushroom soup which was the best part of the meal.the entree were the small plate of filet mignon med rare and def was not cooked med rare more med to well. Again didn't complain because it was my guest b'day also since I already had my meal she didn?t want to send it back to have them cook another cause of the time. I ordered the rack of lamb which was cooked accurately but lacked taste such as salt & pepper (very bland) but to the eye the plate looked pleasant. The au gratin potatoes made up the taste. Molten cake microwaved...not good.

We went after a business meeting to decompress and were able to have a personal conversation, Happy Hour deals on beer, and a $4 appetizer of Hummus with cucumber, carrot, celery and toast. When we needed to get the laptop out to handle unfinished business, we went to one of three table-tops and had even more privacy. We had another round of drinks, finished our work, and stayed for dinner - incredible Caribbean Ribeye and Ravioli, French Onion soup with homemade bread and clear, fresh, ice water.

Pros: Small upstairs bar where you can have a conversation

I am a big fan of the tank bar. It is an off-the-beaten-track, great ambience, put together, but low kind of place, but I was there the other night discussing with my girlfriend a rather painful family dispute related to an inheritance, when the bartender buts into the conversation and says "It sounds likel you guys are a bunch of spoiled brats!".

Who does that? It is a small intimate bar, and the bartender is inevitably going to hear conversations when it is quiet, but I didn't think it gave him license to insult me. Frankly, I thought the Tank Bar was the last place that would happen...

I read the recent review that was posted on Citysearch regarding the poor service recieved from your bartender. I do not know this person, but do know that everytime I dine at Friday Saturday Sunday my wife and I get nothing but the BEST service there. We also like to come in on Tuesdays just so we can have a couple of drinks at the Tank Bar and see Bridget. She has always been very sweet to us and does not ignore anyone who sits at her bar. In fact, she makes it a point to stike up conservations with all of her devoted customers. We will be very disappointed if she is let go. My wife and I will have to look for another Tuesday spot.

On Citysearch, I posted a review about having drinks upstairs with regards to the snarling pretentious bartender. I also posted the same exact review on Yelp (another online review web site). Through Yelp, I received an email from the owner letting me know the bartender is no longer there. I wrote an update on Yelp and I commented that I appreciated that my review was taken seriously. And I am updating my Citysearch review as well. I wanted to mention that I received a prompt response from Fri Sat Sun's owner about my unfavorable visit to his restaurant. I will give them another shot.

In a city where I think you have to shine, This place has lost it's luster. Shame on whoever is hiring the staff. Service was slow and food was at best average. We thought that a Tuesday night would be perfect for a quiet night out. On a positive note, the wine was great and we are big fans of the desert menu. After dinner we went upstairs for a drink and not only did the bartender ignore us as we sat down, I am pretty certain that she had one too many herself. Couldn't get her attention for a second drink so I just left money on the bar and left. We were made to feel as if we were intruding in someones home.

Time to clean house I think.

This restaurant gets less praise by foodies wanting the latest fad, but for those who want to enjoy a wonderful evening in a quiet romantic row home near Rittenhouse Square, eating absolutely great food, served by friendly servers, drinking good wines priced fairly, only $10 above cost,, with the opportunity to hang out in a warm second floor bar, then head to Friday, Saturday, Sunday on at 261 South 21st street.

Our party of seven celebrated a birthday unhurried by our servers. No attempt was made to turn over a table with a 6:30 reservation. Probably the best meal was the special of brown butter sage wild mushroom ravioli, but the filet, pork chop, duck (not greasy) and lamb were all good to excellent. Most entrees are under $30.

This is a special place and the owner and managers treat it that way.

We had a reservation and arrived on time. Although the restaurant had about 7 open tables they refused to seat us at any of them because they had four chairs and there were only 2 of us (this was after two other people walked by, not bothering to aknowledge that we had been waiting by the door for 10 minutes already). They then asked us to wait until something else got up, which, after 10 more minutes of waiting, was out of the question. We left and nobody cared. We love eating out in this city, but I would not spend a dime of my money on these people.

My husband and I have lived in Center City for about 6 years now and we've tried just about every restaurant from river to river and down near the stadiums, from 4-star to neighborhood diners. FriSatSun is, without a doubt, our favorite place to eat. The servers are funny and sweet (and NEVER obnoxious or rude to us, as some have noted in their reviews) and the food is uniformly excellent. My husband says it's the best tilapia in town, and I love the butternut squash ravioli and enormous pork chop. Parking may be a problem for out-of-towners who come into the city, but it IS a little neighborhood street, not a suburban mall, and the best way to get there is on foot, if you can park in a garage elsewhere. We have ZERO complaints about FriSatSun, after numerous visits. It's a great place to take visiting family and friends as well.

This review is a bit late - but if I can be honest, dining at Friday, Saturday, Sunday was a true delight. If it's possible to give more then five stars, I would have done so. The host and server were very accommodating. I started off with the thai chicken salad. It was such a generous portion (and tasty to boot), that I needed to push the dish aside so I?d have room for the entree and dessert! The filet mignon was cooked to perfection. The vegetables were equally as divine. And the dessert - the best coconut cream pie in existence. Needless to say, I booked Restaurant Week '08 for an early Thursday dinner. My tongue is already salivating!

Pros: Everything!

Cons: That I didn't have a handsome man treating me ;-)

Made reservations that night for 8:30pm, and we were seated promptly. They brought menus quickly, and took drink orders. Waiters were casually and conversational, I like how we have multiple people waiting our table. Date ordered the filet mignon, I got pork chops, each with a glass of pinot noir. My date asked for medium, but he got his more well done, minor point. My pork chops were delicious and a handsome portion for both our entrees. I was about to give this place a 4.5 stars, since there was a bit of a wait time between salad and entree and the filet being overcooked. But then they called us because I had left my wallet there accidentally, how wondeful of them! Overall a great dining experience, food and all, worth going again.

After hearing many good things about Friday Saturday Sunday, I decided to take my girlfriend there for her birthday on a Sunday night. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by a hostess that was friendly but was not eager to seat us upstairs like we requested. She said that there was not a server up there and we would have to order with bartender. The food was great! My girlfriend raved about her salmon special for days. We were not as impressed with the young man that took our order. He did not seem interested in answering our questions. The other young woman who was also our waitress was much more accommodating and made us feel welcomed. We would recommend this restaurant to our friends.

Pros: Food is great. Try the salmon!

I loved this place because you could not feel an ounce of pretentiousness. The minute we walked into the restaurant, the staff was very accommodating and and extremely friendly. Such a cute little restaurant that is very romantic. It would be great for first dates. Mocha creme brulee is excellent here!

We ordered steak tips and filet mignon which were both prepared well, except for the extra peppercorn on my filet. which was a good excuse to order a bottle of French Beaujolais, unfortunately it was overpriced @ $34.00. I've had better Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais @ 12.00 a bottle.

My girlfriend and I ate here on a Saturday night. It was crowded; however we were seated rather quickly. The service was average, since the waiter forgot our water and refill on bread after our request. Overall the food was very good, not superb. Everything tasted fresh.....Prices were fairly reasonable. Menu selection was limited, but we were both happy with our choices. In a city of mediocre restaurants, this place is a cut above. Would definitely go back again.

I'm shocked by the number of recent reviews using the word "pricey"... not sure where those reviewers are usually eating, but for anyone who lives in the city and regularly visits higher-end restaurants... you will be pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices here. Of course, cost doesn't matter if the food/atmosphere/service isn't good... but we've been visiting FSS for 4 years now and have never had a bad experience. There are lots of fun, trendy places in the city... but we come back to FSS when we're in the mood for good food, a great winelist, and laidback atmosphere... a combination that's not always easy to find at other places!

About six months ago I came here hoping for a relaxing date with my boyfriend. Our waiter was so unbelievably snotty--condescending, onboxious, sarcastic, over-the-top--that I would absolutely never go back. He made fun of me for missing the menu page with wines-by-the-glass and hounded us repeatedly about what we wanted to order. I felt extremely rushed. When it came time to order our meals, he asked if it took me so long to decide what I wanted because I couldn't find the page with the entree listings. And we're not talking gentle teasing here. He was absolutely unprofessional and rude. This is the first time that, for me, service has ever ruined a perfectly good meal. Try other neighborhood favorites like Melograno or Audrey Claire instead.

Have eaten here several times, the last time was the last. (disclosure, this was in September)

Borcht was just pureed beets. No seasoning. The Tilapia was drenched in melted butter. The roulade was made with canned tomato sauce. Food all around (party of four) was literally, GROSS.

Service was good. My bottle of red wine was served warm, like it was next to a generator. The bottle was warm to the touch. Waitress was pleasant, got another.

Wine list is SUPERB. Whoever picks the wine has a real nice taste. Tank bar is cute. If you want to go, go upstairs and split a nice bottle at the bar, skip the food.

I went there recently on a Tuesday night alone and sat at the bar. The bartender, Bridget I believe her name was, absolutly made me feel like I was a welcome guest in her home. I had the Tilapia which she recommended, Yummy!!!! Since I was alone she paid a great deal of attention to me and a lot of her other guests and even got us all into conversation together. I have read the other reviews and yes this cozy restaurant and a great date place but the bar is a great place to go for a solo dinner and good company.

This cozy restaurant is a great find in a city where BYOB's are revered. The space is cozy, the waitstaff is friendly and helpful, and the food is great. Wines that you can't find in the usual shops are priced so well, who would want to carry a bottle to dinner?

I've been to Friday Saturday Sunday for dinner several times, and have never had any complaints. The food is always delicious, the wine list affordable, and the service and ambience are relaxed and unpretentious. The restaurant is small, though, and can get very cozy - something to consider if you have personal space issues!

Calling ahead to check accessibility I was told the restaurant was wheelchair accessible. Fact: two high narrow granite steps and no ramp; narrow double doors, one marked "do not open". Result: with the help of my son and a waitress my wife was lifted into the entry. She is small and the wheelchair a light-weight transporter.
Asked if we wanted drinks we said no, we'd order wine after choosing entrees. Some minutes later a waitress again asked if we wanted drinks. Foreseeing the possibility of slow service, I decided to have a martini, specifing Bombay gin and olive. It arrived with a twist, which I refused and the replacement arrived with two huge, non-cocktail, olives.
They were out of Stuffed Cornish Hen and as we reviewed our menus the Mahi-Mahi was erased from the specials board.
I ordered Slow Roasted Duck. A minute later I had second thoughts and asked the waitress how it was presented. She said "It's a leg and a thigh." Somewhat surprised, I asked another waiter and he said it was, in fact, a half duck. Half a duck arrived, *plus a leg and thigh*! The sauce was innocuous. My other son, an executive chef, speculated the duck was purchased commerically pre-roasted, frozen and shrink-wrapped rather than roasted inhouse.
Given the pricey menu I had anticipated table cloths rather than small wooden tables and neatly dressed, uniformed, intelligent waitstaff.
The wine list was as represented, but wine by the glass should definitely be avoided.
The Double Thick Pork Chop and Chile Rubbed Strip Steak that my son and wife had were good, the Mushroom Soup was good and the Pate Maison was generous for sharing among the three of us.
Music was loud at times, food was okay, service uninformed but not overbearing, accessibility inaccurately described-if it had been, we would have ruled out dinner there as should anyone else who is disabled or handicapped.
Given the cost FSS did not live up to expectations.

Cons: On street parking. Not handicapped accessible. Choose entrees carefully. Limited menu.

The decent food and good wine list were completely overshadowed by the nastiest servers we have ever had, hands down! After being seated and ordering a bottle of wine, we were approached every 60 seconds by a waiter eager to take our order. Catching up with friends and enjoying the wine, we stated that we need a few more minutes before ordering. We were then told that we had to hurry up and order because there was a reservation for our table in an hour and a half! When we complained about this rude waiter to another staff member, she reiterated what the first waiter said and was even more defensive about it, trying to rush
us. P.S. The restaurant wasn't even full.

We went there with friends for dinner. After reading the other reviews we were a little disappointed as even though we were seated right away, no one came to take our order until we complained. The food was good, but pricey. The desserts were exceptional.

My wife and I had dinner here recently for our anniversary. We showed up early and were seated immediately. Both the food and dessert were excellent.
It is a little pricey and the seating is pretty tight, so if it gets busy someone is going to be right up in your mug.

the food wasn't especially good, and certainly not worth the pricetag. service seemed more like an assembly line than personalized. the wait staff would clear plates and bring the next course IMMEDIATELY after we were done, creating a sense of urgency about the whole evening.

i also don't understand why everyone thinks it's romantic. it's quite loud and lacks any kind of romantic ambience. it's an alright date spot, but not really worth the fare.

By far the BEST crab cakes I have ever eaten. I brought my girlfriend here for Valentines Day. We were greeted at the door, seated even before our reservation was scheduled for. The waitress and another man greeted us as we sat down, served our wine very promptly, and kindly took our order. My girlfriend got the Filet Mignon, which was amazing. The crab cakes melted in my mouth! The food was incredible, the service was attentive and friendly, and the ambiance was superb. The total atmosphere was very romantic, and yet could be friendly. Definately a STRONG RECOMMENDATION!

I had a date here last week and was charmed. The "tank" is smalll, not aquariam-sized but it was sweet and illuminated the darkish bar (I like darkish, though) with some color. The bar is small but fine for casual conversation. Tiny, white lights are strung and the restaurant's celing has billowy purple fabric, dropped so it looks like purple clouds. There were couples in the restaurant, perhaps every other table occupied but conversation didn't carry (or I was too enthralled with my date!). The food well-made, adequate portions, the waitress polite and solicitous. I only have one minor complaint--no coat rack! Patrons had their coats piled on empty stools. I couldn't believe there wasn't a coat rack, so I asked the bartender. No coat rack. I will definitely return another night, coat rack or not!!!

My beau and I celebrated our anniversary at Fri. Sat. Sun. this past weekend, and it was positively enchanting. I read the reviews prior to going and since the mushroom soup was highly recommended, I tried it. WOW ~ definitely do not miss the soup! It was phenomenal. I requested a romantic setting as it was our anniversary, and the staff went above and beyond to accomodate us. The sushi-grade tuna was absolutely divine, I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough ~ if you go to Philly, don't miss this place!

With the reviews I expected a lot from this place but as I walked in the restaurant it reminded me of a cramped diner. Personally I don't feel that pink neon lights and barely any room "romantic" but I guess that's just me. The menu did not have much to choose from and the food was very dissapointing...definitely below average. It may be cheaper than other restaurants but believe me, it's worth avoiding this place.

The wait staff was fantastic, helpful without being too obtrusive. The bartender upstairs needs to geta personality though.

My wife and I met friends for an early (6:30) dinner on a recent Friday. We were greated warmly, seated immediately and taken care of at every turn. Inobtrusive yet attentive service, very helpful wine list and wonderful food. We had entrees from both the fixed menu and daily specials and didn't find one we wouldn't order again. We'll all be back!

My wife and I used to eat at this restaurant a number of years ago before our kids were born and we hadnt been back for about 6 years. We now have a date night and headed into town last Thursday for dinner. We sat upstairs in the small dining room adjoining the bar area. The restaurant was just as we had remembered- the food was great, our only complaint was with the service. The waitress was very curt and rushed us through our meal in 45 minutes and delivered the check to our table while we were still having our coffee. She was dirty, with greasy hair and wore clothes that were obviously a size too small for her. We remember such friendly people working here-she ruined what otherwise would have been a wonderful night out. Two thumbs up on the restaurant but two thumbs down on the service.

My friends and I have been to FriSatSun twice, and we loved it both times. The food is so good, but we love the atmosphere the best. It seems like a very romantic place and I would go back a million times. I've had the salmon and pork chop, and I recommend both of those dishes. My friends love the mushroom soup as well. Also, the dessert menu is the best- I highly recommend this amazing restaurant.

Went back to Fri, Sat, Sun last Friday for a first date. Haven't been there for awhile and I am pleased to report that it is as wonderful as ever. Food, wine, service, ambience were all top notch. Had the cream of mushroom soup and tilapia which were both as I remembered - fantastic. The one new thing I tried - the banana bread pudding dessert - was superb. Even though they officially close at 10:30, they let us stay until 11:00 and didn't ask us once to leave. We finally got the hint when they started to put the chairs up. Pefect date spot.

tank bar is probably my favorite bar not only cause it's cozy, but cause no one seems to know about it. it's definitely not swank (like one reviewer was probably expecting) but romantic in a more bohemian way. i prefer to go there with friends than dates, but maybe i'll find someone worthy... but watch out, it closes at 11 on weeknights.
