S & S Tire

This review is relative to the current tire sales promotion promising 4 "free" oil changes if you buy a set of tires. This is a bit devious on the part of S&S and uncharacteristic of them. I was disappointed to find that the oil changes are (1) of grades "which they have in stock". I found that that only includes Valvoline 10w30. I know of no cars today who spec this oil. Engines have been designed to get optimum gas mileage using 5w20. (2) I asked them if it includes Quaker State which I have used in all my vehicles for years and was told that it does. Sounds good, right. Not so, they don't have Quaker state but they "can get it". Also they can get 5w20. But either of these choices costs you an extra $12 on the oil change. The fact is, (I was told this by the clerk in Versailles.) they raised their tire prices $12 and for me to get the oil I need for my car I have to pay an additional $12. For me and for most of you, the oil changes ARE NOT Free. The other frustrating thing is that they do not handle walk ins like Exhaust Pro and others in town. You have to make an appointment for the oil change. This makes me think that oil changes are a side line with them. They will let you walk in and buy tires. What's up S&S.

Received $2,000+ estimate from them. Took to First Stop Auto off of Clays Mill Road, repaired for less than $300.00.

Also received quite a patronizing attitude from the first man who waited on me. I am a female and have written car estimates for over 20 years. I was waiting for him to tell me I needed a new headlight adjuster or something.

This is the only place we take our cars to be fixed. They have been great for us even fxing things that another company in town did completely wrong. Their work has always been good and has always taken a reasonable amount of time to get get done. They are great about giving an estimate and also about recovery work to find the problem , then deducting that amount from your bill when you get the work done. Their prices are very reasonable and most importantly, my wife, having grown up as the daughter of a mechanic in another state, trusts them as well as the work they do.
