I graduated in 1990 aww man I still think back to my youth I can't believe I went there from Kindergarden to 8th grade. I made a lot of friends in H.S. & college but I have to say my real friends were from that school. It always seemed we all got in trouble together lol. Looking back I really cherish all the people that made a difference in my life whether it was the nuns, priest, teachers, friends. We were all like a big family those were the days. The school and church will always hold a special place in my heart.

I'm writtng a review of St. Teresa of Avila. I attended in 1946-graduation. The nuns were good mostly, althought there were some mean/strict ones. I remember the 4th grade nun -sister josephine-sent me home alone to get a hair bow. Things sure were different than. She had issues. If you know what I mean. I also remember a very handsome priest by the name of father Tully. He remeided me of Van Johnson. Dolly (Hardman) Larson

I attended St Teresa of Avila from 1960 and moved from NY in 1966. Many fond memories of the Nuns, Fathers and Teachers. I am sorry to see the school is no longer. The foundation of my spiritual life was established while attending St Teresa. Thank you for all the wonderful memories!

I remember going to Holy Spirit. I started in 1st grade in 1982 and graduated in 1990. I loved that school! Everyone was like a close knit family. We all grew up with each other. There were some sisters left, teaching at the school. The principal at the time was Sister Catherine. The Priest was Father Jim. And they lived directly next door to the school. I really miss that school. I remember in May, every year, every class would have to come outside in the school yard and say the entire rosary. I remember the cafeteria being in the gym. I remember when kids in the 1st to 4th grade would play in the small school yard and 5th to 8th grade would play in the big school yard. (i couldnt wait to get in the big school yard) Those were the days.

I am a former student, " Class of 1980". I was not too excited to hear that, Holy Spirit School, no longer existed.
What is also sad about this school, is that all the memories are also destroyed. I have no photo memories, of my classmates, and also the teachers( back then they were actually nuns). I moved away from New York, returned, now I see how much things changed. I pray that Brooklyn Jesuit Prep continue to hold the same catholic tradition, especially having nun as teachers.

My brother, three sisters and I all attended St. Theresa of Avila. My brother and I were both alter boys. We wore uniforms and classes were taught by Brothers and nuns. We loved St. Theresa. I started in the second grade back when Bro. Aiden was principal. I will always remember the rumor that Bro. Aiden had a spanking machine in his office. My first teacher was Mrs. Debellis. I remember having a crush on her. I also remember when we were able to buy a pretzel and a coke, mmmm where those pretzels good! I recall having to sell Christmas candels, I still remember their smell. Those were wonderful times.

I attended St. Teresa's from first through seventh grade and was brokenhearted when we moved. I so wanted to continue to eighth grade and graduate with my class. However, at that time there was a mass exodus out of the neighborhood which had rapidly deteriorated in recent years. I went there during the "good old days" when the classes were taught by nuns and brothers, and we had several wonderful priests in the parish. Mass was the Traditional Mass, and we sang beautiful hymns as well as Gregorian chant. I was i the glee club in the 6th and 7th grades, which was a highlight of my elementary school experience. I had good and not-so-good teachers, but I learned my English grammar, basic math, and catechism. Most importantly, the foundation of my Catholic faith was laid, and it is the deepest joy of my life. I have gone back to events at the parish in recent years, and was very sorry to hear that the school was closing. It had been the "alma mater" of many, many good people. I will never forget the riches I received from St. Teresa School and Church, and will never stop being grateful for all that my teachers did for me.

Hi, My name is Coleen. I went to St. Teresa's for ten years (Pre-k - eighth grade), I loved it. I felt at home there, the teachers nurtured us, and pushed and encouraged us to make it in life. They told us that you may not be the best at everything but that doesn't mean that you can't strive to be. Once you have God in your life you have everything, all else would be added onto you. I grew up there, and would attend any reunion they would have. My elementary school days were the best, I gained life long friends from there. In terms of education, i obtained the President Bill Clinton's Award from there as well as the I'm a green nation award from the Senator of Albany. St. Teresa is the place to be. St. Teresa also is one of the first schools in the State I believe to have Nigerian Nuns.
