What a bunch of liars! They have the nerve to treat my wife like she is stupid. They tried to tell her that our vehicle needed $1100 of repairs when she went in for an oil change. I went up there and they said that we did not NEED it but the recommended it. Intimidation tactics with women - what character? They have none. Beware ladies, my wife and I will never go back to that den of theives.

They claim they are a business of character. I agree with the other negative comments they only keep their positive ones on the website and they are shady. I purchased a car from them last year thought it was a good deal they said it had equity in the car. So went this year to trade in for two older vehicles. Made us wait 5 hours the first day and finally suggested we go home and will get to us tomorrow with working out the deal. Before we left we said don't sell the car! Didn't hear from them the next day only by a text message at 8:10 pm that said "sorry we have been really busy haven't forgotten about you". I didn't receive a call for two more days and when they finally did call me after calling them SEVERAL TIMES they told me it was going to cost me double payment for two cars that were three and four years older and when I said No lets just go with the one - they call me back 40 minutes later to tell me that the car was SOLD!!...so did you sell it in that 40 minutes or were you lying to me when you called the first time to tell me that my car payment was going to be $800 a MONTH!! - either way that is SHADY. So when I filed a complaint with the GM motors company the manager Randy said that they did EVERYTHING they could to work out a deal with us...Another lie ...NO calls for three days and giving me an option of paying double what I am paying now?? What?? And to further the point of their BAD Business of Character...While we were there on the first day we wanted to look at a Mercury SUV that was on their website the salesperson said "oh that is gone but you wouldn't have wanted that car anyways it has a lot of problems and keeps on coming back"...So I feel sorry for that person that bought that SUV in August b/c they sold you something knowing it was a lemon!! And to further make my point as we were there on the first day a another customer was extremely upset about the deal she got with Tom Gill Chevrolet and that it wasn't the deal they agreed upon and NO one wanted to talk to this lady about her situation so not only are they shady but they are cowards! GO some place else b/c you will be taken, maybe not the first time but you will the next!!!

Take your time and shop somewhere else. The dealerrater website is a waste of time considering tom gill staff removes all negative reviews and they write their own positive reviews. You may fool some, but you can't fool us all fella's. Business of characters.

Typical dealer experience. First they hit you with the most ridiculous financing offer, then slowly working their way down, acting the whole time like they're doing you a favor. I'm no idiot, and I'm not going to pay 13000 for a car listed for 7000 worth 6400, or 11000, or 9000. And no, I don't need to buy it today if it's been on the lot for 2 months. Pushy with the worst of them. They don't know their vehicles and they can't even fill out the paperwork out properly.

The whole process is an incredible waste of time and before long, any excitement you had about the vehicle is quickly replaced with irritation. They scarcely make any attempt to cover up the fact that they're trying to scam you. And if you don't go along with them on their offers, don't expect to leave the place on a friendly note either, they don't hide their disappointment.

And why would I care whether or not the Gill's are nice people? I'm reviewing their dealer.

It started off like a great experience. Everthing I wanted. Then I took the car home and 3 days later they told me to return it because my credit was not good enough. I knew my credit was not great and I would have been fine for them to tell me that before I took the car home AND that I could not get it.. But for them to tell me to return the car after the fact... On top of that.. They did run my credit while I was at the Dealership... They asked me at the time if I had a down payment... I said NO... They asked me if I had anyone else to cosign... I said NO... The finance dept called 3 days later and said I needed a large down payment or a cosigner in order to keep it. I told them I did not have either... I called the dealership to ask why they let me take it home If my credit had not been approved. NO answer for that question... He said give me your number and I will call back.. NO call back... I called them back two days later.. They said do you have a cosigner or a down payment... I said NO>>>>>> for the 4th time... For a place that prides themselves on Customer Service... I was left out in the cold.

Tom Gill's family has been in the car business for over 50 years. His stepfather, Norm Chesrown, owned Chesrown Oldsmobile in Columbus. Tom's brother and nephew Jim and Ryan Gill now own the Chesrown Chevrolet-Cadillac-Pontiac-Buick-GMC dealership. Norm's brother Dave owns a dealership in Newark, Ohio. Tom's other brother owns Dave Gill Chevrolet in Columbus. They are a nice family and have given me good deals and good service before. You don't stay in business for 50+ years if you don't treat the customer right.

They are very shady and don't do what they say they are going to do. Be very careful when buying from them. Supposedly they are a "Business of Character" but in my opinion it is bad character.

My husband bought a truck, and on his way home...i know this sounds stupid, but people make mistakes....he realized it wasn't 4 wheel drive. So we went back up to Tom Gill, and told them what happened. They kept saying it was buyers remorse, but it wasn't. He thought it was 4 wheel drive. Anyways, they said we could trade it for something on the lot, but they had nothing even remotely close to it, so guess who is stuck with a truck that they don't even want.....BE CAREFUL

When I first bought my new 2005 Impala, it had a small amount of damage to the bumper. I was told that this happened when the car was transported & it would be fixed by the repair shop. They repainted the bumper but didn't remove the small dent.
It took two trips to get it fixed properly.

Last winter, my parked car was scraped by a school bus. I took it back to my dealership (Tom Gill) for repair. I was told they would use a "Used" bumper cover to fix it. I asked about it and was told, "It has be perfect, or we won't use it. After all, we're here to please you, not the insurance company." When I picked the car up, I immediately said, "This won't do." There were pin holes all over the bumper that you could SEE & even more that you could feel. Furthermore, the bumper didn't fit! There was a gap between the bumper cover & my car. The same repairman that had assured me the used bumper would have to be perfect, now said, "It's those used bumpers the insurance company forces us to take." Hmmm
They had already been paid by the insurance company for the repair. A few weeks later, they called to say the new bumper was in. Could I please call the insurance company & tell them I wasn't happy with the used bumper? Fine. After we dropped the car off, I was called by Tom Gill again. "Where's our check?" I explained that the insurance company had already paid for this. Later, the repairman called back & apologized. "I was mixed up. It's all taken care of." I still have that message on my voice mail!

The bumper looked great & fit well when I picked it up. Now, three months later the paint is peeling. I took it back & was told by the repairman, "Someone's hit that bumper. It's not our paint job. They hit it hard enough to flex the bumper, but not hard enough to leave a mark. The paint is less flexible than the bumper." He added that they had never been paid for the last repair by the insurance company. New price tag: $539.

If I hadn't had the problems with them in the past, I might believe them. As it is, I'll go ANYWHERE but Tom Gill for a repair. Furthermore, I won't BUY my next car there either nor could I recommend them to anyone else.

How many Dealerships can you find where the Owner is not only there but actually cares about your experience, I might be biased because we are actually in Tom Gill Chevrolet, see we provide the rental cars to the Service customers and to the body shop customers. But we see who cares and Tom Gill cares and he makes sure his employees do too. If your in looking for a new or used car or if your car is in their shop stop by and see us if you need a rental car.
