I've been buying from Bray and Scarff for years and have always had excellent service. Their selection is great, the sales staff is very professional, and the delivery people have always done a great job. I've even had good results from their repair department. Anytime there ever was an issue, they always took care of it. That is what I like so much about this place. Because the delivery and installation is done by them directly, you always have somebody to talk to if you need help. They don't just tell you to call the manufacturer like everybody else does. Like I said, I've been buying from them for years and I will continue to do so.

Eighteen months after purchasing a complete high-end appliance ensemble for our kitchen renovation from Bray and Scraff, the dishwasher electronics failed. Several attempts to schedule service through Bray & Scarff proved as frustrating as they were futile.

The first attempt to schedule service was made in-person. Despite many idle sales staff, we were brusquely told we would have to call the service department. Given the idleness, assistance in scheduling would have been both polite and good customer service. Sadly, the sales staff merely handed us a handwritten number for the service department and quickly walked away.

Later, when we called the number, it was immediately obvious that the written number was incorrect.

We obtained the actual service number online and called, assuming a the salesman was merely a single bad apple. Bray & Scarff's database, we were told, can only search for a customer's information based on telephone number. Their system did not recognize ours. After assuring the representative that our 20 year old phone number was certainly the one used for purchase, she rudely admitted that perhaps she could do a search on the serial number (oh the bother!).

The serial number also was not in the system, so we were told "yeah, you'll need to go through GE itself for service."

So in the end, B&S told us that our $18K+ purchase with them was so... yesterday and that we need to talk to a big nameless multinational corporation if we wanted any service or support.

Message received loud and clear!

And, insult to injury, reporting this poor support privately to Bray & Scarff also failed (the "submit" button wouldn't).

I'd recommend B&S only if their prices are BELOW internet and big-box dealers. Service and support end coterminous with the ring on the register.

I am a building contractor in the Metro area and am very familiar with the pro's and con's of dealing with Bray and Scarff. I agree with the other 2 reviews regarding quality selection, nice showrooms and helpful sales staff. Everything positive ends at the cash register and customer service been getting progressivly worse in the past couple of years. Delivery complications are commonplace and I have enough stories to write a book. My experiences with the Service Department rate among the most frustrating in my 30 years in the field. B&S has redefined "slow"(9 months to repair a fridge for example). When my own dryer went out, I was told by B&S that they could have someone "look at it"in 2 weeks. I called another repair company and it was repaired that same afternoon. This example illustrates why the Extended Warranty is just not practical. The inconvenience of dealing with the Service Department offsets any monetary incentive there might be in such a plan.I currently have one client that has been without their brand new washing machine for one month now. I have been told by the Service Manager that my clients were getting preferential treatment because I was a loyal contractor. If that is true I pity the poor homeowner that buys something there. At this point,I couldn't recommend Bray And Scarff to anyone and am currently advising clients elsewhere. Check for more postings on the internet. I really want to tell the story of the last project I had Bray and Scarff supply appliances for- unbelievable. Unfortunately I will still have to deal with previously purchased appliances for several years to come.Run away, don't walk.

The salesroom for Bray & Scarff is really nice. The sales staff is knowledgeable and attentive. However, you should note that the sales staff will recommend that you purchase the extended warranty. When selling the extended warranty, they will say things like: ?Service will come to your home within three days.? And ?the service is great, you will have your repair done quickly.? The fact is, the service center is 1) slow returning your call, 2) wants you to call GE the contract holder, 3) will get someone to your home in a couple weeks and then tell you they need to order parts and not get back to your for 5 ? 6 weeks. I have had to call three time on a washer purchased from them (they recommended the brand washer) and each call has resulted in long delays in getting the washer repaired. Search the web.... you will find similar complaints.

Bray and Scarff has a nice selection of appliances, especially some of the higher end models. Their prices are a bit higher than some of the larger stores. The customer service is excellent as is their repair/warranty department. I've purchased many appliances here over the years and continue to come back because of the great customer service.
