The Dealer Principal, Mr. Erik Kahn, scheduled a meeting between him, me, my office manager and his assistant. The meeting was surprising in many ways. Mr. Kahn felt he did not have to address my concerns/the issues in the original review and stated that we have the vehicles, what is the problem. My office manager tried explaining to him the difficulties we had with the staff both at Friendly Honda and Friendly Ford. While speaking he constantly interrupted her and would not let her finish a thought. I spoke up and told him I thought that was very rude and unprofessional of him. He said he felt there was no reason to further discuss as we had the vehicles. My office manager spoke up and said she felt there was an interoffice issue (see original review) that should be dealt with accordingly. At which time he stood up (we were all sitting close together at a round table) and starting banging on the table while screaming at my office manager Youre stirring the pot, youre stirring the pot! I literally had to stand up and step in between my office manager and Mr. Kahn as he was about three inches from her face when he was screaming at her and banging the table. What is most sad is his assistant, Grace, was sitting at the table when all of this happened and she sat there stone faced with no reaction whatsoever. What is sad about that is this obviously isnt the first time she has seen him react/act like that towards a customer or an employee. After that, we stood up and stated it was time for us to leave as we were not going to be treated like that. We were paying customers that bought not one but three vehicles. It is atrocious that any owner of a business would act that way towards a customer. I was embarrassed for him. From my office managers perspective, if she were alone in that meeting, she would feel highly threatened and probably have made a public report. I hope as a future purchaser of a vehicle from Friendly Honda or Friendly Ford, reading this you would take this seriously and into consideration. I also would recommend NOT having a meeting with Mr. Kahn unless you want him in your face screaming at you if you make a complaint!!!

After the initial negative experience with Friendly Honda, the owner has since then taken care of the majority of the issues. Still too many politics between Friendly Honda and Friendly Ford.

This dealership is great! I know many people that have purchased here and have nothing but great things to say. Looks like a couple of people had some issues that weren't Honda vehicles. The service department pricing is fair and the staff is always friendly and helpful. They have the biggest selection of new cars and their pricing is always competitive.

Buying by Honda couldn't have been easier. Usually hate the entire buying experience, but at Friendly Honda the experience was wonderful. No pressure, experienced salesperson who could answer all my questions. Highly recommend buying your vehicle from Friendly!

I purchased a Volkswagon from them about a year and 1/2 ago. I was very happy with the service then. In feb of this year my window fell into my car so I brought it back to this dealership where I purchased it, since it was under a warranty. They fixed the issue and everything went along swimmingly. Then a couple days ago the window fell yet again into the window so I figured let me bring it back to the dealership I purchased it at. This was the wrong thing to do. I was no longer under warranty and they told me it was a bad regulator. I later found out it was going to be 350 after taxes to fix. Upon finding out I got rather pissed because they knew about this issue with the car back in February but yet they didn't fix it until it was no longer under warranty. My fiancee was then told that in February it wasn't faulty, and the guy who worked on it came from a volks dealership and knew about this issue. So if they knew about the issue why not fix it for us when they saw the first signs of it not working? So now I am stuck paying for something they could of easily fixed for me. Plus on top of it I waited 2 and 1/2 days for our car back and never recieved a loner car. I told them when I brought the car in, I needed it by Friday and yet they never called on Friday to let me know anything about it. I am so unhappy with this company and will never ever go back to this dealership, or service center again.
If you have a problem under warranty then make sure it gets fixed then and there. Or you will deal with paying for it yourself when you are no longer under warranty!!

Mr. Don Spaeth
2006 Saab 92x
Presently in your service department

I dropped off my car yesterday (July 19th)
Here is a copy of the post I am starting to put on the internet.
I have decided to give you a chance to rectify this...

My engine light came on and my cruise control light started flashing so I stopped at an auto parts store and had them do a test. The code was P0304 which means that my fourth cylinder was misfiring. I priced out plugs and wires for my car ($39.95 for the wires and $4 ea. for the plugs total $55.95 ... oh yeah, all OEM parts) Since I am not a mechanic I figured about an hour for me to do the job. Remember we are talking a 4 cylinder car here... BUT, today was my wife's birthday and she was at home so I decided to take the car to Friendly Honda where I had bought it.

I dropped off the car and explained to the service salesman that it was bucking and ran on only 3 cylinders at times. I gave him the code and told him what it meant and that all they needed to do was probably change the plugs and wires, but also to find out why my cruise light was flashing.

The next day I got a call saying that they had to change the plugs and wires and that it would cost me $310. I hit the ceiling...

After being explained a $97 and change labor rate, a $110 and change parts charge and that I was lucky because the mechanic that looked at my car had worked for years at a Subaru dealership... (My car is a 2006 Saab 92X... a GM product that is part Saab and Subaru... {I was told at that time that I had a Subaru engine}) Well how lucky was I to get him. I toldhim the prices don't add up and he told me that they did a test and I was charged $65 for it????? I told him I gave the salesman the numbers (P0304) and explained what they meant... he wrote them down also... I gave him these so that I would not be charged for this test.. Yet I was...

He was not going to budge on the price at all and tried to justify the test saying that their testing machine was better and tested for more things... Well, it may be better but it produced the same results...

Am I now stuck with this? I guess so but, Friendly Honda turned out not to be so friendly and instead proved to be a RIP OFF... So, every blog out there, every directory or any place that carries the name Friendly Honda will now include a copy of my BAD EXPERIENCE with them...

BUYER BEWARE OF FRIENDLY HONDA..

BUT... Wanting to be fair I called and emailed this complaint to the Service Manager Don Spaeth.
Don wasn't happy with this email, but to his credit he did agree to waive the $65 test. So without tax the bill had been $294 then minus the $65 test it left me with $229 plus tax. I agreed to this.

I went to pick my car up and there was a problem. Richard Hill (name on bill) said they couldn't get a set of spark plug wires for my car that had a wire long enough to reach my fourth cylinder. They said the Saab had a different wire configuration. Hmmm wasn't I told that it was a Subaru engine????

I told them to just charge me for the spark plugs and labor and I'll take it somewhere else.
That's when the "VOODOO MATHEMATICS" started.

One hour labor in the original quote now turned into 2 hours labor (at $97 an hour = $194 plus $110 parts = $304 plus the $65 test now equaled a total of $369.00 plus tax. But they saId they weren't going to charge me for the test ($65) so they told me not to even worry about adding that up... Then they started subtracting... minus $70 for wires take off the $65 and the first time I owed around $159... then the real argument started and somehow I owed $129. Don the manager got involved and I explained that he was doing the old 11 finger trick.. counting backwards 10, 9, 8, 7, 6 plus 5 = 11. They finally admitted that 1 hour labor was for the plugs and wires and the 2nd hour labor was for the light (that $65 test). Lets see $97 plus $65 = $162 for a 10 minute test. After an intense half hour loud dispute they stopped their Voodoo Math and agreed that it was only 1/2 hour for the labor to install the plugs and $36 for the plugs plus tax... My original point. They still figured it out by the backward finger counting trick but now they were only off by about $2 so I paid and left knowing that I didn't receive the intended screwing they had planned, or so I thought. The car stalls now when I stop (yes even with the new plugs) I did sign the paper knowing that I still need wires and that the 4th cylinder wire is bad which will be their excuse for the stalling now. Hmm didn't stall when I stopped when running on only 3 cylinders before with the old plugs. Hopefully a Real Repair Shop will iron out the mess caused by Friendly Honda.

For now... every blog out there, every directory or any place that carries the name Friendly Honda will now include a copy of my BAD EXPERIENCE with them...
I restate...

I brought a used car from Friendly a little more than a year ago and have been nothing but happy with my choice of dealer. My salesperson was extremely knowledgeable and kind, and was able to get me a great deal! I love my car.

They live up to their name and make you feel comfortable. You can sit in their a/c, watch t.v., and have free coffee and donuts while they fix your car or change your oil. Bring the kids, it's clean and they have books and toys for them too!

Its not all about buying a car it is also about the service. These guys are the best i have come across so far. Let me give you an example:

I moved to Ohio and lost all my service invoices during the move. My muffler broke down and it was under warranty. They were kind enuf to fax and mail a copy of the bill to me.

Thanks a ton you guys sure are friendly.
