Our mortgage was sold to green tree, we don't want them!!! How can we get rid of this company? Does anyone know?\r
They raised our escrow in May then our PMI was canceled which is 65 a month, but will only take the escrow down 20 month???

If I could rate them a zero, I would. Don't be late with your payment....not one day. If you are and you don't answer their phone calls, they will call your family and neighbors. I lost my job and fell behind in the payment - less than 30

I am not writing this to get help from anyone. I realized after reading these complaints that many people do not know their consumer ??rights? and I wanted to inform them as best as I can. Please, if you are being harassed by this company or any other, go to:

There is plenty of information there to assist you in your rights. For starters, The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, clause 805 in particular tells the consumer to send a ??certified letter? to the company telling them to cease and desist all communications about the debt with the consumer. If they do not comply, you have a legal complaint. Other clause in this Act specifies threats of foreclosure, calling of third parties, additional fees, etc?

Please know your rights, this company treats us like this because they know that no one will actually use the laws that are available to protect from this treatment. I'd like to add that it is very important to keep all documentation from Green Tree, document the time and person in every conversation (you can even record the calls), and be sure to visit as many sites as possible to leave complaints. We, and the government, may not be able to shut them down, but we can and it is our duty to, stop them from receiving any more business outside of what they have. We consumers need to inform other prospective customers of the tribulations that go with this company.

This company is a classic "predatory lender" - they chose to lend to "high risk" borrowers just so they can collect more interest. If you read the complaints you'll see that many people mention extra payments being put towards "interest" rather than "principle" - others mention paying well more than the average APR. This company preys on your money. Know your rights and defend your fellow consumer.

My story went like this:

I am an employee of the federal government and I make very good money. I am not experiencing any hardship, yet they insist on treating me as if I am a habitual offender and a child.

Green Tree Servicing calls repeatedly (at least once a day) concerning my mortgage payment, a debt that is not delinquent. When they call they are very insulting and at times resort to yelling at me and treating me like I have done something wrong. I have a legal mortgage "note" from the original mortgage lender (National City Mortgage) which states that my mortgage is due on the 1st of the month and that I will not be assessed a late fee until the 16th of the month. If this company doesn't have payment on the 1st of the month, they will not stop calling and harassing until it is received. I have explained to them that my payment comes from my bank and that my pay periods do not always fall into the schedule to have it delivered on or before the 1st. I have showed them that I have never been late (after the 16th) and never missed a payment. Instead of leaving it at that, they resort to insults and name calling insisting that I make my payments immediately and start doing it by the 1st if I want them to stop calling. This treatment is becoming very stressful and I have experienced much anxiety over these calls. I've never missed a payment or been late (past the 15th).

They claim that he does not make payments and has filed claims against him saying he may owe from 150-1500 dollars at a time. He always winds up pulling all his checks and going through his bank and finding the money and they act like it was no big deal filing a false claim. Also, usually in the mist of all this they will call at least 5 times a day. One time when I answered the phone the woman actually had the nerve to ask who I was. When I said, why do you want to know, she replied that they ,meaning Green Tree, had a right to know who was living in their house. HORRIBLE PEOPLE!!

My husband was married to someone else in 1998. They separated, and she took the home. She let it be repossessed, and filed bankruptcy. Now, in 2008, I receive paperwork from the IRS claiming 20,000 cancellation of debt. They are claiming my husband owed this money, when it was already taken care of in HER bankruptcy!! They're trying to get their money TWICE, and went through the IRS to make us pay taxes on the 20,000 amount they didn't recoup from the sale, which they consider INCOME???? We did not know, nor did we receive any money from this. Now, we get to pay 3000 to the IRS for something that was already paid for!!! DO NOT use this company FOR ANY REASON!! They WILL get you.....even if it takes them 10 years.......And, forget about customer service. You're lucky to get a person on the phone...then they talk you into a circle and tell you nothing anyways.

I have asked several times for a detailed statement of my payments and when they send one it doesn't even show my full payments on it. It only shows a portion of the payment. Their answer is that the portion I see is what has gone to the principal balance and the amount not shown has gone to interest. That is not right at all. My principal balance has been the same for the last 5 years. Do not use this company or you will have the same nightmare as I have had for the last 11 years.

These people are ridiculous. Every time I turn around these people say I am late with my payment and that is not so at all. They keep our payment and don't post it so therefore it makes it late. I was doing some research and came across this review. It shows that Greentree is a four out of five star performer, yet, the reviews show that they give it a one with negative feedback. Am I missing something here? Where are all the four and five out of five ratings? Seems odd to me. So what's the reality of the company?

GREEN TREE IS NEVER TO BE TRUSTED NOR USED AS A BANK. THEY HAVE HARASS ME FOR PAYING WITHIN MY GRACE PERIOD. THEY HAVE CALLED ME ON MY JOB AND HOME JUST TO HAVE ME PAY ON THE FIRST OF THE MONTH. I HAVE CONTACTED THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OFFICE AND THEY HAVE A CEASE AND ASST TO STOP CALLING. THEY HAVE NOW SAID I DEFERRED TWO PAYMENTS AND THEY'RE ALLOWED TO WAIT UNTIL THE LOAN IS PAID OFF TO ADD IT ON. I NEVER REQUESTED THE DEFERMENT NOR WAS LATE WITH MY MORTGAGE. Green Tree believes only in shafting their customers. I made two payments, and all of it went to interest. Their answer: oh, it was late so that's how we do it. If you are ever in a bind, or if your renter or contract for deed person runs out, don't rely on Green Tree to be flexible at all.
