This is the sears I always visit because it is so close to my house. I have noticed a big improvement in customer service in the last year. They must have got new owners. I got two new tires on my Sebring and my husband had work done on

I HATE Sears Auto Center in New Brunswick, NJ!! I don't know much about cars but I do know that it does not take 2 hours for an oil change or 4 hours to change four tires and that when you go to get your car diagnosed, it should not be returned to you with something else broken! The last time I took my car there, was literally the last time I am EVER taking my car there!! I took my car to find out why it was squeaking when I go over speed bumps or make turns. They returned my car with a broken gear shifter and claimed they were not responsible nor are they able to fix it and that I would have to take it somewhere else and pay for it to be fixed. The irony huh? You go to a place that fixes cars and in reality they fix nothing and return it to you even more damaged then claim THEY are not responsible?? On top of that, the customer service is poor. The sales associates as well as the mechanics take their time doing things and they fool around and talk with eachother rather than attend to the customers and the little focus they give you comes off rude. There was one person there that was of help and I wish I knew his name to give him his credit. I know it sounds silly that I would keep bringing my car to a place that I already knew was incompetent but to be honest I only did it for the convenience of having a Sears Card and having the ability to pay instalments but as of now they have lost my business completely and I hope they lost yours too!!

I went there yesterday to have my tires changed, I had called the day before to order the tires, and was charged for them. When I got there I had to go through the whole process again to explain what tires and services I needed. The people working behind the desk were talking about how they did not want to be there, and were complaining about other customers. They gave me my paperwork only after they were done complaining.

I then went into the waiting room, which had about 5 chairs in it and no heat. I waited an hour before they began to look at my car (I was told it would be done within an hour), and they appeared to be finished about half an hour later. When they pulled my car out of the service area, I waited another 10 minutes and then went to see if I could leave. There was no one at any of the desks for me to talk to, so I went back into the waiting area.

Durring my time there, I saw two other people come in after me, and leave before me. When their cars were finished, the service technicians would come into the waiting area to get the customers, but no one came to get me. I went back to look for someone since it had now been over 3 hours since I got to the Sears, and did not see my car in the service area. I had to wait on line while the person behind the desk had a 15 minute conversation with someone buying tires. When I asked about my car, he said that the keys were right here, and that I could leave, but no one had plans to tell me that my car was ready.

I asked to talk to the manager, and he said he did not know why no one came to get me but he did not seem concerned. I asked him about the heat in the waiting area and he informed me that the heater is broken in there. I said, "So, you have people waiting in there for 3 hours with no heat?" and he simply said "yes."

Zero on a scale of 1 to 10. Terrible service - no one cares. Maybe it was a Saturday and everyone was wishing that they were somewhere else. Go somewhere else with your hard earned money.

I would never recommend anybody to visit the Sears Auto Center in New Brunswick, NJ!! My recent attempt to get rear tires replaced in my Toyota Corolla was a fiasco, that started when I ordered my tires by calling in customer service. The tires I wanted turned out of stock, even though a charge had been made to my credit card. The auto center in New Brunswick offered replacement tires. When I got there on a Friday evening, I was helped by a Mr. James Ryder. The workorder was not placed in correctly, and the technician on the floor replaced my front good tires with the new ones. This while I waited there for over 2 hours, and saw the technicians joking around on the floor. Fortunately, I checked before leaving the auto center. On going back inside I was told that nothing could be done, since it was 7.45 PM and the technicians had checked out. Mr James Ryder found my original good tires that had been mistakenly taken out and brought them back to me. I had them put in the trunk of my car, because I was not sure the tires would still be around when I got back over the weekend. A written note was put on the work order and I was assured that everything would be fine on my next visit, and it would be a in and out thing. My next visit was on Monday evening. Since it was supposed to be an in and out thing, my wife requested me take our 20 month old for the ride. When I got there, I was told by Mr James Ryder that it would be about 1.5 hours to get the job done because it was crowded and he could not put me in the front. A work order was written up, clearly indicating that the two bad rear tires would need to be replaced with the ones in the cars trunk. I was asked to wait. I saw them start work on my car after 1.5 hours!! The tech sat joking there with his colleagues while he taken my original tires out from the trunk. After 2 hours 15 minutes, I saw my car parked aside and decided to enquire because my son was starting to get cranky. I was told that the car was ready and I could drive away. Upon checking, I found only the right rear tire had been replaced. The left rear tire was still the old one. I brought this up with Mr James Ryder, who directed me to the tech called Jerry. I had an argument with him, when he told me that he had worked on both tires and that everything was ok. Mr James Ryder had to interject, because he himself had placed the original tires (that need to be put on) in my trunk before I had left on Friday. He found the missing tire lying on the floor. He asked Jerry to work on my car. I found that nothing was being done to fix the issue after 15 minutes. This was the height. I requested to talk to the floor manager. I was directed to a person called Larry, who informed me that they had stopped work on a Mazda vehichle, to put my car ahead in the line. Since this Mazda vehichle had come in at 2pm, and since it was being worked on, I would need to come in the next day. My frustration and anger new no bounds. I told them that I was told that my car would be ready in 1.5 hours. Working on the Mazda that waited since 2pm (the owner was not around - I guess he must have been aware of the delays at this auto center) was not my problem and I would not leave the place till I got my car fixed. I told Larry that I wanted to escalate the issue, and was given the name of auto center manager Robert Senft, and I was told that I could reach him during the business day. Upon seeing my crying son in their office and possibly after my threat to escalate, Larry talked to the technician to get my car ready. It took them another 15 minutes to get the right tires put on, finally! Larry did apologize for the inconvenience, but I dont think he meant it. I decided that I would write a review as soon as I got home. I am planning to write on the Facebook wall as well, and hope to reach out to the auto center manager Robert Senft tomorrow, though I dont think it would matter anymore. I am not going back to the Sears auto center ever and would not recommend it to other folks. One more thing to note is that you are asked to do the survey, before you get to see your car. My folly was I gave back a good review even before I had seen my car. Lesson learnt the hard way. No more surveys, reviews till I get to see the finished product.

My car overheated on NJ Tnpk Sat. 11-8-08 and state police called a tow truck for me. He towed me to Sears Auto Ctr, Rts 1 &18, New Brunswick, NJ 732-937-7391. I told the mechanic there was a new radiator put in less than a week ago; he checked the coolant level and overflow tank was empty (I pointed out radiator was full of coolant). He had me purchase coolant and poured it in, then leave engine running; it overheated in a few mins. He said the coolant is not getting through, plugged up somewhere and he did not have the tools to diagnose it. Suggested I get towed to a Pep Boys down the road. I did that and after paying for two tows found out in mins. that the coolant fan was unplugged. At Pep Boys they plugged it in, no charge and I was on my way. Moral of the story; DO NOT TRUST SEARS AUTO ON RTS 1 AND 18 IN NEW BRUNSWICK. Waste of many hours and the cost of two tows to diagnose an unplugged fan!!
