Welcome to 200 Fifth - A chance to unwind, enjoy a glass of wine and choose between well crafted fine dining or casual American comfort food in a sports bar atmosphere with Latin sizzle. Listen to live Salsa & Meringue on weekends, Reggae, R&B and Jazz on weeknights, shoot some pool, grab a beer - there are 40 on tap alone, watch some football, basketball or baseball, relax and enjoy, all in a warm friendly environment. Be it the restaurant or the sports bar extension next door, you're always welcome here at the place where everyone seems to know your name 200 FIFTH...

The Scene
This rousing double-storefront sports bar attracts a crowd more diverse than its Slope location might suggest. That's because its one-bar-fits-all formula works. On one side, tables come with paper and crayons for the kids while waiters in black serve an upscale dinner menu in a room fit for conversation; the other side boasts roaring fans, more TVs than Circuit City and 40 beers on tap.

The Draw
Every night, you can catch any game of the season--all NBA and MLB games, hockey, plus HBO's "Saturday Night Action Fights"--with revved-up supporters on each opposing side. But even non-sports fans can appreciate the three styles of wings and mega-burgers. The food ranks high above pub grub, the look is exposed brick and brass and the staff is on the ball. Weekends bring salsa music and a steamy pickup scene as competitive as the weeknight games.

The Inside Scoop

  1. What to Drink - Choose a flight of six beers for $9.
  2. Save Money - Specials include $3 brews until 7pm, Monday through Friday.
  3. The Extras - If you can't bear to leave your couch during the game, the bar offers free delivery.

I went there just to watch the roy jones trinidad fight. I will dfinitely go back. The music is good. They have a pool table and the wings are very alluring. I wont say the wings live up to it completely. But they dont taste bad either. The drinks are pretty good and the crowd is grown sexy so everything ties in together well.

Ratings_icons Viewing The Game Is The Thing

Pal Joey 1957

[UPDATE, 10/3/09] OK, I went there to watch a game as per my review below. The quality of viewing is good as descrbed. Only thing is THE PLACE IS PACKED. The crowd spills over onto the sidewalk and there is not a seat or table to be had anywhere. I got there at 3:30 for a 4pm game and nobody ever left their spot. I never saw a waitress, never got a drink. Had to stand in back of the bar stools for the entire game and contend with a constant flow of people squeezing by.

The crowd is in their 20s and 30s. They've got the physical stamina to contend with this sort of situation. But us old guys, well I left there with an aching back and badly swollen feet. A girl tried to pick me up though - flattering. But I was in no shape for it; just dreaming of bed and a meal.
-------------
[9/26/09] I checked this place out in person today for possible viewing of the NFL tomorrow (Bears/Seahawks). All important for me is the ability to sit in front of a screen and watch my game. My crappy co-op board does not allow dishes for Direct TV reception. I have a wide latitude of tolerance when it comes to the food.

So, you walk in, the bar is on the left and has a trail of screens along it's length. Down the center of the room and along the right wall are tables, all of which have their own screens. Talked to the manager, who told me if you get to a table early, they put your game on your screen. If you're standing, somewhere in the bar is EVERY NFL game.

What look to be 19-20" screens all have clear pictures. OK, that's all I need. I'll eat whatever half-assed thing they're serving if I can watch my game.

I don't yet know what the quality of the food is, but some of these reviews read like a sniffy yuppie peccadillo. [My veggie burger burned my tongue? Give me my meal free. Please! Have another latte grande with 2% milk and mocha vanilla sweetener, but no whipped cream, and wrap the cherry for the baby.]

(Subtracting 1 star for as yet unsampled food.)

Pros: Many convenient screens, good for moochers.

Cons: No seats

Ratings_icons TERRIBLE Customer Service!

burntface

This was my first time visiting 200 5th and it will also be my last. I ordered the vegetable burger and took my first bite into it about 5 minutes after it arrived. The vegetable patty burst and splashed on my face and left a 2ND DEGREE BURN on my face. The burger was ridiculously hot. It tasted fine but I was given no warning about the temperature risk. At any rate, I reported the burn to my waitress (very politely), showed her the blister that was starting to form on my face as a result, and asked to have my meal comped. Her response was that it was MY FAULT because I was obviously an "irresponsible eater". What!? I have never heard of anyone responding that way. She told me she would not comp my meal because "it was not fair to the restaurant" that I eat "that way". Her manager then came over and explained to me that food is hot when it is cooked (Really?!) and that it was my fault for not taking caution when eating. She did not respond to my point that food should not cause 2nd degree burns when it is ready to be served. She refused to comp my meal or apologize for the burn and accused me of having the burn on my face before I got there. My boyfriend explained that we'd be happy to pay for the meal except for my portion and she asked us to leave and never return. What kind of customer service is that? I will gladly NEVER return and I suggest that you do not either. Also, my face hurts.

Pros: beer

Cons: bad customer service, rude management!

Ratings_icons Great food/BAD service

looking4goodbar

I was searching for a nice place to dine late and have a couple of drinks. The food was above average and the wine was actually perfect, however to say that the service was lacking is being kind. Couldn't find the waiter half the time and when he was located, he was standding at another table watching the sports event on one of the many large screen TVs. My date and I will return and hope/pray to be seated in another's section. Surely they all can't be as inattentive!!

Ratings_icons Noisy and Mediocre

mykeybots

If you like football and noisy football crowds on a Sunday, this place is for you. But if you're like me and my friends, who were not informed that our neighbors would be screaming in our ears about the Giants the entire time, then this place is NOT for you. I think we would have been ok with the noisy atmosphere if the food and service was good, but unfortunately, my egg white omelette was drowned in butter, the coffee was burnt, and the service was very very slow. So, all in all, not a pleasant Sunday brunch experience.

Pros: Good neighborhood, friendly wait staff

Cons: Super noisy, greasy food, slow service

Me and my cousin go to this bar for boxing PPV all the time. I go here and drink cheap beer and bar food (wings) and it's always been great. Last time there we got 20 wings and 4 pitches of beer and it was under 60 dollars. Love this place.

Ratings_icons Expensive for BAD food.

parscole

People told us it was good. Maybe they had read the generic, fake, good reviews on this page. It was horrendous. Good deal? We paid $8 for 4 shriveled, burned, fishy(old)-tasting, quarter-sized shrimp. Mashed potatoes tasted like they came from a box. Salads were ok, but we had to pick out brown lettuce and pour off bowl full of balsamic vinegar (apparently vinegrette means tons of straight up vinegar). The "soup master" didn't manage to make onion soup that my husband could eat more than a few spoons of, and for a place that talks up their menu SO MUCH, they can't figure out how to make fries that aren't soggy- like they had been 'fried' in water! I wish I was exaggerating, but I think I could be much harsher. The food is THE OPPOSITE of how they describe it. It is obvious that the good reviews were written by friends and family. I'm not saying that the food was rediculously expensive, but for what we got, quantity AND quality- NOT OKAY. It's just so offensive when you have to pay prices that good restaurants charge when the food is SO bad. Do you know how easy it is to make mashed potatoes taste good? I almost cancelled the charge on my credit card.

Pros: None that I found.

Cons: Almost everything, especially the food.

Ratings_icons POOR WAIT SERVICE, HORRIBLE FOOD, EVEN WORSE MANAGEMENT!

belladiamondz

First off I would like to start off by saying that this place was packed on Sunday night, the day before Memorial Day. It looked like a cool, trendy & happening place to eat & drink at. For the LOVE of GOD were we SO WRONG! We walked in and were not even greeted/seated by the "manager" for about 5 minutes , because he was busy standing there picking his fingernails! Once seated, our server took our drink order and never returned. I took it upon myself to ask another waitress for help and she brought our drinks over promptly and proceeded to take our order since by this time we had been waiting 20 mins since our original waiter first came! When our appetizer arrived, the Shrimp Quesadillas....they were by far the most greasiest looking things I have ever seen! How do you mess up something so simple and easy? Sopping in grease! Don't know how they made them, but it looked worse than any fast food quesadilla I had ever seen or eaten! Needless to say, we were starving and ate them! After an HOUR...yes a whole hour..and constant searching for our waiter to see where our entree's were, a bus boy brought out our entrees. Ok...I am going to stress the fact that I was starving and would of eaten anything... at this point "cold soggy mushy cereal" sounds appealing!! I ordered a Veggie Cheese Burger with fries. I took the bun off to pour on some ketchup and noticed that the cheese was just placed on top of the burger, it was not melted at all...so I gave it the benefit of the doubt..I bit into it and it was "ice" cold...hence, why the cheese was not melted! The fries were greasy, fried teeny tiny pieces of little burnt scrap potatoes...I would of gone to McDonald's, Buger King...anything would of been better than this! How could something like get served to a customer.....absolutley horriffic! After waiting over an hour for our food..this is what I was starving and waiting for? I would love to go on & explain how bad this place is but there is no room left!

Pros: NOT A DARN THING!

Cons: GROSS FOOD, HORRIBLE STAFF, POOR SERVICE OVERALL! STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!

Ratings_icons Best Watering Hole and Pub Grub in Park Slope

Well all I can say is, that anytime...everytime I go to visit my friends in Brooklyn, I always recommend 200 Fifth. First of all, it's convenient to get to from Manhattan (R Train to Union Street), and it's atmosphere is fun.

My girlfriends and I are always made to feel very welcome there, we've had many birthday brunches there and you can't beat the prices.

Their menu is fabulous: you can get a wonderful, yummy pasta dish, juicy burger with all the trimmings and get a drink of any type from the bar. Did I mention the vast varieties of beer? Fabulous!

Would recommend 200 Fifth to anyone...anytime!

Pros: The Food and Atmosphere

Cons: Waitstaff can be forgetful or get orders wrong if busy.

Ratings_icons Great place to have a bite and a brew

jm718

This is a great place to go and have a quick bite and a few beers early in the day. Their bar menu is amazing and the buffalo wings are a knockout. Also enjoy their dinner menu that features a amazing steaks and seafood. Maybe a little crowded and have a few mintue wait on the weekends, but isn't that a good sign? Service here is always with a smile and you'll leave with one too after enjoying yourself at this great Park Slope restaurant.

Pros: Food, Drinks, service

Cons: none

Love this place for all it's expansiveness and diversity. Would love to see more dancing nights, like in the past, however the huge bank of TVs offers a suitable distraction. Game days have the place packed, so plan in advance. This is a Park Slope landmark- love it!

Pros: diverse menu and crowd

Cons: no DJ or live entertainment

Awesome bar, great food- WOW!!
Something like 40 beers on draught, HELLO!
Their Portobello sandwich is to die for- a vegetarian's dream. I like it "blackened" with extra sun-dried tomato & pesto sauce. For added heath, trade the fries for the salad!!
The wait staff and bartenders are super friendly too :)

Pros: Food, Beers

Cons: None!

Ratings_icons The Complete Package

DeekLassified

I've loved this place for over 20 years. It has always had the best "bar food" anywhere, and their chef's specials and upscale menu stuff are forces to be reckoned with. The staff just wants to make everybody comfortable, and they make no bones about it. The dining room, the old bar and the big sports bar all have very welcoming atmospheres. Go for the Southern Wings, even better than the best Buffalo wings around (also theirs). The Cajun Shrimp in oil is another appetizer that surprizes. For main courses the T-Bone is best (for carnivores like me) but their menu is so vast and varied that I won't guess how they pull it off. But pull it off they do, and they do it well.
Don't take my word for it, just go. But bring your appetite. You won't leave hungry.

Ratings_icons just terrible

personinthecity

the only good things about my visit here were the nice selection of beer and the server. It was crowded, yes, but i saw an empty table sit there for a good ten minutes while the manager just chatted with a friend. When a busser finally had a free second to clean the table, we were sat and greeted right away. the server was friendly and knowledgeable and made some good recommendations for the beer flight.

my first shock came when the manager came over and audibly yelled at the server right next to our table. he then did the same with a girl who was working in a different section. this was inexcusbaly unprofessional.

then came the food... granted, we just stuck to appetizers, but in a sports bar, i would think that's a pretty common occurence. well, the potato skins actually made us laugh out loud. more like greasy nachos, but with slivers of potato instead of chips. the wings were bland (not spicy like they were supposed to be) and dry, and the chicken fingers were sopped in grease, soggy, came with a little plastic cup of salad dressing, and tasted just awful.

i hope that server has found another job by now, becuase that was truly one of the worst places i could think to eat at. especially when there are so many better choices within 2 blocks.

Pros: good beer, lots of tvs for sports

Cons: terrible management, awful food, overcrowded during games

Ratings_icons Horrible Management and Ethics!!

nor1

My sister-in-law and I recently planned a 30th birthday party for my brother at 200 Fifth. We made arrangements for this party two months prior to the event, which included a signed contract and a deposit. This was confirmed with a telephone conversation the Thursday prior to the party. I spoke with the manager Mike, who assured me that all arrangements had been made for the scheduled party. Upon arrival, we were shocked to be informed that no separate seating was arranged for our party of 30 and there was no space available for us to even enter the bar! We were told that the management would no longer be providing the area, food and drinks we contracted. Needless to say, our party of 30 guests arrived to an overcrowded establishment, where little to no reparations were made by the manager and owner of the venue to correct this problem. The management is unethical, shady and money hungry and will do anything to make a buck regardless of how the customer feels. Not the type of establishment I?d want to eat and drink at!

Pros: none

Ratings_icons Worst Restaurant Experience EVER!!! - DO NOT GO!

rblockner

We sat down at the restaurant at 2:10 pm on Sunday. After pestering, at 2:30 we ordered. At 2:45 we got our Diet sodas and at 3:15 We still hadn't received our meals. The waiter was totally useless. He had no idea where our food was and we had told him we were in a rush. At 3:20 we told him we were leaving and he and the matre 'd checked on our food AGAIN and apparently no one had any idea what was going on. So we left. Nicely the didn't charge us for our drinks. We left hungry and extremely annoyed. If you actually want to eat food, don't go to this restaurant. If you just want to drink and watch TV, it is probably fine for that but then why don't you just hang out in your living room.

Pros: NONE.. Maybe nice TVs...

Cons: HORRIBLE SERVICE, HORRIBLE KITCHEN - FLOODED BATHROOM

Ratings_icons Best sports bar in Brooklyn!!!!

megginb77

I have now become a regular @ 200... I first visited when I was trying to find my college's game's on- not an easy feat... (As well as my west coast football faves) I first checked it out with a warning from a friend, but was pleasantly surprised at the great service and surprising good food for a "sports bar". Check out the t-bone- not too pricey and an amazing cut of meat, cooked exactly the way I ordered it. I had one sketchy experience hanging out late on a saturday night, definitely a rough crowd, but the last couple times I was there on the weekend I found they did away with the "hip-hop" night, drastically changing the crowd. All in all, great "for real" neighborhood bar- at this point my drink's usually at the bar before I sit down.. Gotta love it. -Park Slope Hoodie

Pros: Games, Local Crowd

Cons: nada

Ratings_icons Good food, atmosphere eh.

yukster11

There are 2 sides to this sports bar. One is more of a restaurant type, which is quiet and good for conversation. The other is the louder side that has more tv's, louder music and more of a low class, trashy crowd. Plus the service was slow. They have a lot of tv's on the Sports Bar side however most of them are tuned to the same channel (came here on a College Football Saturday). The food here is really good, a diverse menu and is reasonably priced. Would come back to eat on the restaurant side, but to watch games, would go somewhere else.

Pros: Good food

Cons: Poor all around for a sports bar

Ratings_icons Great drinks, late night snacks and dinner specials

wis02

Growing up in the neighborhood, I've been to 200 on tons of occasions, with friends, family, casual lnights out, ordered delivery, etc. over the years it's never disappointed. 200 often has tasty specials that i wish were regulars on the menu, such as this fried rice thing with a delicious green pepper sauce that i was actually very susprised to see on the menu. i love their chicken parmigian and garlic mashed potatoes as well as the creamed spinach. They make a great crab cake and the fried calamari is always fresh. recently they changed their boneless buffalo bites and i'm not too impressed with the new version but that's the only complaint i have about the food. i've tried most things on the menu, from pasta, to steaks, to chicken, to seafood and have neverhad a problem. everyone i've taken there likes it too. my friend had a portobello burger last week that she really enjoyed and i recently discovered their salads are pretty good too. oh and the sauteed salmon is very nicely prepared as well, with lemons, butter and capers its a good basic meal. it's a good experience about 90 percent of the time. the only drawback is that it's often too hot or too cold and it's usually pretty loud. the music is never to my liking either but that's not the reason i go there anyway. top knotch and well-priced cocktails too...was tipsy after two martinis the other night. the staff and managers are always friendly and courteous and willing to accomadate all sorts of requests. i've eaten here at least 30 times and i've never seen them act hostile or yell at anyone

Pros: good variety of food, consistent quality, great for late night, great cocktails

Cons: loud, a bit too cavernous layout

The great thing about this place is that they have a variety of games on and not just the hometown teams. They seemed to be pretty accommodating and honored requests for specific games. Pros: Lots of Games

Cons: Sometimes Crowded

Ratings_icons Great Sports Bar, but...

Linzee1

I go to 200 Fifth every Sunday to watch football and always have a fantastic time. They always have every NFL game on, and if you are sitting somewhere that doesn't have a great view of your team, they will gladly change the tv's. The special's are also great during football, $3 beers (select kinds). But...beware of the owner. On multiple occassions I have seen him screaming at his employees in plaid view of all the customers. The first time I saw this I asked my waitress why they didn't throw this guy out, and that's when she told me he owns the place. It is extremely disturbing to see this man verbally abuse his employees. After this past weekend I'm not sure if I can go back because his rants were just too graphic. If you go to this bar make sure to be on your best behavior because you DO NOT want this man to start yelling at you.

went here last night. the food was okay and pretty reasonably priced, but nothing that blew me away. the music was TERRIBLE, like awful, dentist's office soft rock. i could barely keep down my dinner. the music seemed pretty incongruous with the young and diverse crowd. it also seemed like the place couldn't decide whether it wanted to be a sports bar or a decent restaurant, and as a result it is neither. i'm not really interested in going back.

I used to enjoy going to 200 fifth. That is untill I took some friends for dinner and drinks and racked up about $100 tab. Not a problem. But we find out that there's an HBO title fight that night and decided to stick around an order more drinks.
Then came some Slimeball manager going around charging everyone $20 for the fight. There wasn't even a sign outside or anywhere in the establishment announcing this price. It was a crowded house that night, so we're sure he made plenty of cash.

Went here for brunch and had one of the top 3 worst restaurant expereinces ever. You know it is bad when the owner/manager himself tells you he would have left if he had been given such poor service. Food was bad, slow, service was nonexistent (staff told us to go to bar from our table and get our own drinks...almost made us go to kitchen to get our food too!) Owner complained about how busy they were and threatened to kill himself b/c of the brunch crowd filling the place. Can anyone say bad managment?? I would pass by 200 fifth and think that it was a sports bar, but one Friday night I ventured in and to my surprise---it's more than a bar. The menu was varied and not bar-like. The food was great, I had the catfish stuffed with spinach, and when I told them that I was on diet they gladly substituted the potates with vegetables. The service was good. After dinner we went into the bar for drinks, dancing and live music.
There was only one problem: Men have to pay to get into the bar even if they have dinner at the restaurant, which I thought was unfair because my girlfriend and I were busy dancing while her boyfriend sat outside....we forgot that she had his wallet!

Pros: Prompt service

Cons: Large and noisy

Come here for the best food at reasonable prices. Great food goes along with the great drinks and the bartenders are friendly and comedic. This place is great for couples or singles looking for a place to relax and also maybe try some salsa dancing in the lounge. Whatever you're in the mood for, you can find it here.

Don't forget to try the chicken or shrimp quesadillas!

Brooklynite

I come here with my co workers often. Even though it's a sports bar you can still relax with friends. Happy Hour prices are wonderful! Food is good. Service is prompt. I always have a great time here.

Pros: price, location

I've gone to this place twice now & both times the service was very good! The Friday night was packed, and I was surprised that I didn't have to yell for my friend to hear me talk! The shrimp w/risotto is AMAZING!!! The bar has a great selection of beers, it's a great place to bring friends for dinner or just a beer!

Pros: good service, good choices for beer, great food

This is a friendly, unpretentious bar, restaurant and club. I find the food excellent and at a good price. They have over 40 beers on taps and with $3 beer specials too.

The place has such a welcoming atmosphere, yet there is seriousness about the food and the dinning experience. Check it out

Pros: Drinks, Friendly, welcoming

Cons: Bathrooms

I live around the corner, so I end up here once about every 2 weeks. Never had a problem with the food (actually, the chicken parm and the buffalo wings are WAY above average), good draft beers, friendly staff. Blue Ribbon it ain't, but the prices are Blue Ribbon, either.
