On Friday, June 16, 2006 my son was in the emergency room at Brandywine Hospital. He was transported to Brandywine to await a facility where he would be admitted for an involuntary commitment. We had to spend 12 hours in the emergency room because of a paper work mix-up (not the fault of Brandywine Hospital). It was a very frustrating experience for my son and for me as we were not able to contact the people involved in the paperwork snafu. While we were waiting, the staff in the emergency room did everything they could to make us comfortable. They were attentive and caring. They went out of their way to try and help us with the problems we were having with the outside agency, even though there were several emergencies going on at the time.
A special thanks goes to Amy and Scott, nurses on staff that evening. They were sympathetic and understanding and tried numerous times to help us resolve this stuation. We finally resovled the paperwork issue and my son was sent on his way to the new facility. Thanks to Scott and Amy for this. Had they not intervened with such intensity, who knows how long we would have been forced to remain in the emergency room.
We were treated with respect and with dignity the entire time we were there.
Thanks again for all you do.
