This ambulance service is competent but the people are not very compassionate.

I called them a couple times for my elderly father who had fallen or was ill. They were fairly harsh with him and, because he is deaf, seemed to think he had a mental illness. They should know better.

They had him waiting in the cold in the back of the ambulance while they wrote up paperwork with the doors open. I had to ask for blankets and to please shut the doors. Duh. It was mid winter in CNY.

However, they do get you to the hospital quickly and they administer care while enroute if necessary.

They charge crazy high prices but what can you do? Unless you can get a volunteer ambulance corp. like the wonderful NAVAC to come, you have to pay what Eastern charges.

I don't doubt these people are qualified, I just don't like their 'bedside manner' so to speak.

Even when my mother had a very serious illness requiring immediate and critical care, they were short and didn't listen to what we had to say about what happened. Instead they tried to ask her while she was clearly in NO condition to talk or do anything at that time. That was time wasted that may have been used to get her emergently to the ER.

Bad experiences for us but they may be fine for others.

As they are a full pay ambulance corp., I expected they would be better at communicating and less harsh and rough with patients.

I will take NAVAC (in North Syracuse) any day over Eastern.

They are Satisfactory but don't go above and beyond the call of duty.
