Morgan's on Maxwell st !!!!

by Marcelle C.

BEST BAR EVER!!!!
Great price, delicious food, excellent drinks, very good music (dj, karaoke nights, live music) and amazing staff !!!!
Easy parking, bus stop right in front of the bar, lots of cabs passing all night long...perfect!
My favorite nights are Thursdays (karaoke) and Fridays (DJ). When the band plays on Saturdays is always a lot of fun ! Junior's is ok. Morgan's is waaaay better. PEOPLE who go to Morgan's are prettier, funnier, and nicer than the ones I found at Junior's. MORGAN'S is my FIRST home. When I'm not there, I'm at my 2nd home...Lol !

Why waste your time? Go to Junior's!!

by T. J.

The first time I went I was less than impressed with service. The waitress even tried to stick us with a bill for a group that skipped out on it simply because they had said hi to us earlier in the night and so of course we had to be with them and therefore responsible for their bill. The second time I went it was even worse. The service was terrible, it is somewhat expected on busy nights/game nights, BUT the waitress didn't even make an effort to come to our table. We had to grab several other waiters to even order our food. There is no excuse for this and it is not even that reasonable. They do have specials, but everything else is kinda pricey for a college campus. Do yourself a favor and go across the street to Junior's- it's way better!! Better food, prices, and atmosphere with TV's for all of you who want to watch games!!

Average Sports Bar

by Alison G. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,883

Morgan's is right in the heart of University Village, close to UIC. So during the school year the bar is filled with college students. In the summer Morgan's is nice b/c it does have a small outdoor area. Othwerise inside it is a typical sports bar. The drinks are good, food is average for bar food, service isn't great.

Nice location

by Jerae J. | insider Insider | Rank: 27,795

I went here and the bar and grill was pretty decent. The area is located adjacent to the UIC area and is not so bad on the parking in the rear. Perfect place to go to have a late night drink or after hours.

Awful service

by kymmgreen

The waitresses are slow and inattentive. Food is mediocre. Staff is only a reflection of management. Management is belligerent and hostile.
waitress FINALLY came to receive cash payment for services. Had to LITERALLY track her down for change. her response "Oh, you wanted that back?? Bill was 35.20 & all u gave me was 2 twenties--that's not even 15%. H ow much do you want back??"
manager defended her position--stated "she is best waitress we have??" Did not address the inappropriateness of her attitude-or FACT that she was going to keep a patrons change. Then stated that if we had a problem with his staff or "how" they operated we should take our business elsewhere. If that is type of hostility and service you desire--this is the place for you. SAD---location and neighborhood offers so many other possibilities than this appalling behavior.

Pros: Its in Chicago

Cons: staff, management, service

Great Place for Sports Fans

by luckshea

i've been going to Morgan's for years. it's been great to always know that you can drink on the cheap every night. there's always a special going on for both food and drinks. however, my main reason is for the screens. i love watching the games their because it's easy to get a table in clear view of the action. there are screens literally everywhere & the fact they run HD on their flat panels is a definite plus side. i know bars out there often don't invest on a true hd signal. During the NFL season, this was preferred destination. with the NBA season & March madness going on, you'll be sure to find me here.

Pros: Tons of Flat Panels, Drinks Specials

Great Atmosphere

by joelbaze

I live right around the corner in University Village, and i've always enjoyed the vibe here. They have drink specials every night, and you never get that overcrowded feel. The menu is great, and I'm honestly addicted to their spinach & artichoke dip. It's amazing. Their pizza is also surpisingly fresh and tasty, and you can get $5 bucks off with a student ID. I love to get there on Wii Wednesdays, because my friends and love to play after a few rounds of drinks. That's always fun. Overall, i enjoy the upbeat atmosphere, the great menu, and the good drinks. I always have an awesome time at Morgan's.

Pros: Great Atmosphere, Great Food

The Worst Ever

by restadventure

This is the worst establishment that I have experienced in quite some time. It took a 15-20 min to get a server who never introduced herself by name nor did she inform us about the drink or food specials. Our appetizers took 30 minutes to come out and it was cold. After I finished my first drink, I ordered 2 drinks on the menu which I was informed that they did not have not the ingredients to make the martini though the server provided us with the full martini menu with the drinks listed. The server occasionally revisited our table. My Shrimp PoBoy was extremely salty and very dry. When our bill came, gratuity was automatically added because we spent over $50 which meant it is automatically added regardless of the service. The manager and server wanted to debate my opinion of the service and food experience. Surprisely the manager informed us that our server was their top server which is hard to believe. Don't waste your time.

Pros: It's a Sports Bar so there are a lot of men

Cons: Service, Management & Food

A true dissapointment

by eh1

I have been in twice and it continues to get worse. The staff is a group of mismanaged college students with no idea of what they should be doing. The food is below average even for bar grub, and the space is tan on beige. Being a local I was looking forward to our new neighborhood bar...I will not return.

Pros: Only thing in UV

Cons: Staff , Food, Ambience
