It took over a year to turn a warehouse boiler room into one of Williamsburg's premiere restaurant and lounge bars. We offer a full menu serving, outside seating, full large bar and lounge area. Our huge space if great for parties and special events. Also, we have a large art space that changes every few months.

Editorial by

In Short
Located in the former boiler room of a warehouse, this Williamsburg restaurant's exposed pipes and cast-iron sculptures nod to the neighborhood's industrial past while the DJ booth, local artwork and massive outdoor patio with curtained-off booths reflect the more current L train sensibility. The menu offers mainstays of Turkish cuisine: hot and cold mezes such as hummus, grilled octopus and crab wrapped into cigar-shaped dough, and entrees like chicken kebabs, lamb chops, and snapper with snow peas, carrots and clams.

Key Points

  • Full Large Bar
  • Lounge Area
  • Great for Parties

The Inside Scoop

  1. What to Drink - The internationally diverse wine list ranges from $23-$125 a bottle, while none of the by-the-glass options top $8.
  2. When to Go - The kitchen closes at midnight on weekdays and 1am on weekends, but the party continues in the accompanying bar space.

Waste of money

by patelrd

The place is really nice but the food now is too bad and way expensive. A couple of years back the food was great but somehow the manage to turn thing around. I went back hopping to eat like the old times and I got disappointed one more time,....the last time.
I'm done with this place.

Pros: If you dont eat you save your money

Cons: Just for drinks, owfull food

Nice Environment, Bad Food and Waiter

by WilliamsburgLady

After spending $80 on so so appetizers, our waiter who had an obnoxious fake smile throughout the evening, and who made horrible jokes yet wasn't there when we needed him, made a scene because he thought his tip was too small. This is unheard of in a classy place- any of it. A tip is a gratuity, a sign from the patron of what they thought their service was worth. I don't like fake smiles, intrusive attention with no food or drinks attached, five random men lathered in hair gel wiping the table, giving us bread even though I said I didn't eat it, taking plates with food still on them, yet never there with our wine or beer when we needed it, ect. There was hardly anyone in the place either. To make a scene because you don't like your tip, after someone spends $80 on appetizers, is classless, rude, pathetic and unprofessional.

Pros: Nice Environment

Cons: Bridge and Tunnel Treatment

WONDERFUL Place

by citygirly

I don't know what to write, I just can't wait to go to Mymoon again. After small, crowded Manhattan restaurants Mymoon felt like a palace.. Great athmosphere, big beatiful soothing garden, tasty food and delicious drinks..
We ( 6 of us ) made a reservation for friday night, our table was ready on time. I had moonlight cocktail which was yummy, my friends loved their drinks and even though it was busy night we didn't wait for anything, service was perfect..
We shared bunch of appetizers. Grilled calamari, mussels, Turkish manti were delicious..
I ordered lambchops and I would highly reccommend it..
This restaurant is huge, inside is gorgeous and very cozy. I think Mymoon has the best outdoor seating in this town.

Pros: Ambience, food, cocktails, service, garden garden garden

Great space for a date. Average food now. They HAD something good going on and lost it.

oooooh boy!. It was quite a while I was not back at this place. I hate when they change menus or cooks, The food is not what it was. I'm not happy with the change. Will not recommend.

Pros: Sunday Brunch was good, then change to horrible.

Cons: Dinner was excellent now is not.

Highly not recomended. Mediocre & expensive food with mediocre service.

by Mercuryruiz

In my book you have two strikes and you are out. I was a fan of this place for the decoration and the food. On Valentines day I took my girl and she did not like the fillet mignon and overcook lobster, neither I like the awful new mussels they had in the menu, last week I was back hopping the kitchen had improve and a got a disgusting watery soup with vegetables and a fishy tilapia plate, any regular can soup is better and a lot cheaper than what they sell here and the was just plain. I will never go back for another disappointment.

Pros: The place is beautiful

Cons: too many to mention

not so turkish, more like american cuisine with a mediterranean flare

by dnz

I had visitors from out of town and decided to take to My MoonN last night. I picked the place for its modern Turkish menu and nice atmosphere. I was very disappointed when I found out that they recently changed their menu. I cannot say it is a Turkish restaurant any more. It is straight American Neauvou with a Mediterranean influence. The only Turkish items on the menu were Sigara Borek appetizer and Turkish beer Efes. I ordered the grilled Mediterranean Branzino fish which asted delicious, if only I could see what I was eating. The place was toooo dark we had to ask a third little candle for our table to be able to read the menu which didn't help much.

Pros: nice ambiance especially the patio in the summer

Cons: too dark inside at nights

Amazing atmosphere, food and price are average, service is slow.

This place is great if you just want to sit with your friends in a cool atmosphere. The food is decent, though pricey. It's not really Turkish at all in my opinion.

Pros: Atmosphere

Cons: Not really Turkish...

The place is gorgeous.

by Karlton

For years I had to deal with bill mistakes, bad drinks, rude managers poorly dress and other consistent inconveniences like pretty lime bad service and bartenders that change in a monthly basis. Why? Because food was decent and tasty. Not anymore. They change the chef and the menu that was working well, to leave the same inept management and most servers, so now on top of bad service you can get bad food as well at an insane price. What is wrong with this people? Honestly I don?t know and I don?t care. Is so sad that a really nice place as this one is willing to do this to his clients, it?s time to look for something else.

Pros: This place is gorgeous with a great wasted potential.

Cons: Just to be bad service. Now is bad service and bad food.

Realy nice place, realy bad food, so so service.

by pitkeller

This place was highly recommended by a friend who discovered it in a remote place in Brooklyn. With great speciation I took my wife and without disappointment, we had a great impression of the majestic place as soon as we enter the "cave" type restaurant. It was a little quiet and to be honest, I did aspect a better service for a ?first timer? at this place. I was recommended the seafood platter by my friend and to my misfortune that was not in the menu. So I order Mussels just to find out that they use sausages in this plate (!?) If I want meat I will order meat but If I want seafood that?s what I want. My wife was not pleased with the taste of the dressing on her salad.
I will not go over more details but after reading the other reviews here I really don?t understand what is all the big fuss about this place.

Pros: This place is realy nice for a date to have some drinks

Cons: You can get better meals for better prices in the area

Best atmosphere in town, good drinks, decent food

by desieclipse

Went with a friend to this place last night - the food was pretty good. It was a sort of eclectic fusion of Meditteranean food - people looking for something more traditional or heavily spiced may be disappointed, but we both enjoyed our food. He ordered the grilled shrimp & I had the vegetable casserole. We also had the grilled octopus appetizer - which was very tasty but not the best grilled octupus I've had.

The space is absolutely amazing at this restaurant - it is enormous, tastefully decorated, and a pleasant place to hang out in. I would definitely recommend going here in the summer, because they have a large and beautiful area for outdoor seating.

service is good - they are very attentive at filling your water glasses and keeping the drinks and food flowing .
Overall, the best thing about this restaurant is the ambiance - it is a gorgeous space.

Pros: gorgeous ambiance, great service, lots of outdoor seating, easy street parking

Cons: little pricey

Nice place & lovely food, the perfect combination

by raywalko

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of inviting some friend to this nice place and we had a really good time, the food as usual was delicious with a minor exception. Lamb chops were excellent, seafood platter was marvelous, scallops & mussels very good and well presented and the special fish platter was excellent and really big in size and taste. I did had a taste of the small dumplings they have in the menu and was somehow shock in the contrast of taste, we found it pretty bland, definitely not an item to recommend.
This place well deserves 7 stars but since Sunday brunch is not recommended at all I will give them only 5.

Pros: Nice place & lovely food, the perfect combination

Cons: Sunday brunch is very bland. Not recommended at all

Old disapointed customer

by jennyrob

If some one reads my previous review please disregard my comments since they apply to over a year ago. I was a real fan of this place because they had the best food in New York. I did try to go back several times hopping that they will get new cooks or a better chef but all I got was overprice bland food most of the time. I fill really bad having to give one star to this place just to leave my review, they deserve none.

Pros: Service has improve

Cons: Food is not a shadow of what it was.

A Designers' Dream!

by germanfoody

Being a designer myself, I can say I am not easily impressed with restaurant designs in any part of New York, left alone Williamsburg. However, MyMoon is one of these rare places to truly take your breath away, perhaps also because it is in such an unexpected location. The food is very good, too - but quite frankly, it would have to be absolutely phenomenal to match the architecture of the place.
Go there to impress a date - or just impress yourself. It works!

Pros: Unbelievable Space

Cons: none

Great for Parties

by hamra

I had my Mother's surprise 73rd birthday recently, it was Perfect!! The food was delicious. The service and attentive care for my details was addressed smoothly. When my nieces played their musical intruments, it resonated beautifully in cathedral-sized dining room. The restaurant's beautiful decor complimented the special day. The outdoor seating was a bonus to the movement and energy that flowed that day. All of our guests loved the food and setting. I couldn't imagine a better Turkish restaurant that can cater to such a diverse crowd. It was a very sentimental day and all of my wishes were granted. Absolutely Beautiful!

Pros: Food, decor, service, great for parties

Cons: none

This place is AMAZING! We went to Mymoon on april 27. Delicious food, great bar, tasty coctails, service was friendly and attentive. I recommend crab cigars, shepherd salad and lamb chops for main dish, my friend tried grilled salmon and she really enjoyed it. Manager suggested a bottle of wine which was delicious. Even though it was a busy friday night we didn't have to wait for anything.
I am glad I listen to my friend, we had a wonderful time at Mymoon.

Pros: Delicious food, nice atmosphere

Wonderdul all around

by indisk

Took 13 people here on a Sat. night to celebrate my 30th birthday. Service was very friendly, and very competent. We ordered a little of everything and nothing disappointed. Meats and fishes were all well done, and the olives/cheeses/breads were of very high quality. Music and ambience were well-suited to fun, relaxed dining. Drank three bottles of excellent wine, as well as several cocktails and beers - everyone ate amply and the bill was well within reason.

Pros: Setting, space, food, service, affordable good wines, good beers on tap.

Cons: None for me.

Horrible for groups

by jarog

A friend planned a 30th birthday dinner here, and they cancelled at the last minute because they apparently got a better deal. Terribly unprofessional and rude. We've eaten there before and the waitstaff was slow and not too friendly, food was average and not very well priced. It's a nice idea but these people obviously don't know how to run a restaurant, they will never succeed as there are SO many better options in Williamsburg. It looks nice but is definitely not worth it! Avoid this place.

Pros: looks nice from the outside

Cons: terrible waitstaff, so-so food

Great for dinner, NOT for parties.

by tersmith76

I've had dinner at My Moom a few times and I have always been very pleased so it was ultra disappointing when we had out Holiday party there just recently and it was such a bomb. I've been with my company for 7 years and this was the worst party ever. We typically stay in the Williamsburg community for parties and have never been this unsatisfied. Although the food was still good and our waitress was really friendly, they seemed to mess just about everything else up. Management was not very accomadating and the waiting between apps to entres was absolutely absurd (the food was cold by the time we got it). As we received our desserts they were pushing us to another room. For the first time in years we didn't even get to dance. Anyway if you are thinking of a big party I don't recommend My Moon. Just go for dinner, food is really good.

Pros: Foods really good.

Cons: Can't handle big parties.

My friend had her birthday party at MY MOON. We all had a great time. The waiter was superb, food was delicious, LOVED grilled calamari salad, crab cigars and mussels were yummy. Prices are very reasonable. The garden is amazing, nice and relaxing. Everyone was very friendly, they all sang happy birthday to my friend.
Mojitos were delicious. Short subway ride from manhattan and it will be worth it.

This place is amazing! I had frriends from out of town coming, and I read a review about My Moon on Citysearch, so I took a chance, and it actually exceeded my expectations. The architechture and designs of this place is amazing! The waitress was a dream, and the food was delicious! You cannot leave without trying the hummus and crab cigar appettizers. The drinks were well mixed, and never stopped flowing, and the best part is the prices were reasonable. If you live in the city, it's worth the trip!

Nice place, depsite A LOT of problems...

by 11222

LOVE THE DECOR. But such problems every time! Calamari-soggy and undercooked. THey were apologetic, replaced the order for free, only the second one was just as bad! Hummus plate-ok, but they give you 1 piece of bread a person, so you keep flagging down the bread guy! I ordered a vodka soda (simple), the waiter brought tanquery tonic. When I finally got his attention and pointed it out, he quickly returned with...ANOTHER tanquery and tonic. Couldn't believe it! He got my drink order right the 3rd time, 20 minutes later, and took that off the bill. Similar story with dinner orders, although great filet mignon. Belly dancing show was cool. Food hit or miss, but when its good, its great. The staff really needs to get it together, some of the most careless service I've ever experienced. Almost unbelievable. But overall, I do still like this place.

Pros: ambiance, filet mignon, friendly

Cons: STAFF INCAPABLE, CARELESS SERVICE, MESSY SERVICE

My Moon was a great on a recent Sunday night!

by newyorker10001

We loved it - romantic/industrial, great service and food. I was with someone from Istanbul and we'dgo back this summer for fish/raki on the gorgeous/spacious patio. We shared 3 apps: borek (fried 'cigars' with feta/dill/parsely filling, hot and crunchy outside, smooth warm herb cheese inside, a Turkish staple), the My Moon salad, and we tried the more spanish app of red peppers stuffed with cheese and sausage in a green sauce that we thought was cilantro/mint based. The previous Turkish chef we were told is gone; nowthere is a Spanish chef and so the Turkish desserts and coffee have been replaced by delicious but not Turkish desserts (mousse, crepes, etc.) and by espresso. We ate the lamb shish entree and the grilled shrimp entree and both were both big enough and delicious. The variety of the menu is super but not truly a Turkish menu, more of a Mediterranean vibe.

Pros: Food, Service, Ambiance

Beautiful Space,Outdoor in Summer, Exotic Food

by tmousewins

The best thing about My Moon is definitely the space..the decor..and the vibe. I went there during the summer and we sat outside on the patio...under the flowing tent like set up. It was romantic-with this atmosphere, drinking the white wine sangria. However, the sangria was watery. The food, was very exotic--and good. It was a bit pricey though. The staff was very attentive. Overall it was a great experience.

Pros: vibe-decor, attentive staff, exotic food

Cons: price

Belly Dancing at My Moon Wednesday Nights

by mimibellydance

There's a new night at My Moon that just started up featuring live Mid-Eastern music with tribal and cabaret belly dancers.

Wednesday's from 8pm until late No Cover!
They're doing a free bellydance class at 8pm live music by Djinn starts at 8:45. I went last week and there's a lot of open dance time.

Tribal belly dance is really new on the east coast and this is the first night to feature it on an ongoing basis.

I went last week, there was no cover and the food and drinks were excellent, the place has a really nice vibe and the crowd was great. Not pretentious, just mellow and people wanting to have fun.

Most places with belly dance and live music charge a fortune just to walk in so this night will definitely be a regular one for me.

Pros: Live Music and Dance, Great Decor

What else could you wish for?

by ariesj412

Our family (total of 7, ranging in age from 16 to 65) went to My Moon on Sunday night. What a wonderful evening we had. The ambience is terrific with candles everywhere. We ordered various appetizers and entrees. Everything was beautifully presented, delicious and authentic, so much that we felt like we were in Turkey! The Turkish coffee is a must. Service was very fast and attentive. There was no wait to be seated. What else could you wish for? It is a little expensive for Williamsburg but it is fully worth it.

Pros: ambiance, parking, promt seating

Beautiful. Tasty & Utterly Transporting

by dfslone

My Moon is the best looking joint in Willy-B. The food is perfectly fine Turkish food, which automatically makes it better than most restaurants in town. The mixed mezze platters are decently priced, given the surroundings. The service isn't always speedy, but it's always been friendly to me. The crowd isn't local, but, do you need to dine among small-town coke-heads every night? In fact, My Moon's greatest power may be that to transport diners - out of Williamsburg, out of NYC, to some particularly chic corner of the Sultanahmet district. There's even a view of a Byzantine-style church. If only they could get them to take the cross off of the spire...

Pros: Beautiful, Tasty, Transporting

this restaurant could be so much better!

by sonjasuperstar

It is a great LOOKING place, but this restaurant could be so much better! The food is average at best & it is expensive for what it is. basically the same food as the local kebab place but not as good & 3x the price. We sampled quite a few things. The tarama was good, but the grilled shrimp was so blah! It was like $17. & it had 5 medium sized shrimp that were obviously cooked from frozen, not fresh. You could tell - they had no flavor & had that rubbery textire. They were completely cooked but boring. This place was a big dissapointment & w/ a little work on the menu, the chef, & the ingredients this restaurant could be so much better!

Pros: great decor, big, not crowded

Cons: overpriced, mediocre food, bad art on the walls

No Williamsburg Character Food disappointing

by sirenanathalie

Outdoor dining entising but look at the menu... boring & Turkish? The final course had a hint of Turkish. Ice cold fried potato came with the ok Swordfish Kebabs. The Calamari/Tartare Sauce was boring. Wine was $8 glass. Pricey for Williamsburg quality more like $5. All 4 of us didn't enjoy our meal. The bread was tasteless. They refilled our water classes every 5 mins. comical. Cocktail waitress humorless. Waiter was experienced and enthusiastic almost apologetic. Expensive by Williamsburg standards $17 entrees. The crowd mostly bridge & tunnel. Hopefully not a sampling of the "New Williamsburg Invasion". Management and owners seem nice but this project is very ambitious to a fault and unimaginate in menu to match. Damage control should step in quickly because the outdoor set up is great. Recommendation - take that big braiser off the dining room wall and start making some good inspired food.

Pros: Outdoor Area, Waiters

Cons: Food, Type of Crowd, Prices

Baffled by the negative reviews...

by jack_rawlinson

My partner and I tried My Moon for the first time last week and were so impressed we went back at the weekend. I cannot understand why so many reviews criticised the food, which I thought was excellent; well above average and containing many of the authentic flavours of Turkish cuisine with a modern spin. The cold appetisers were delicious, especially the stuffed vine leaves, the zucchini pancakes and the wonderfully creamy tarama. The baklava was delightfully syrupy and sweet. Our wait person was friendly and attentive. Were we just lucky or has the place dealt with its teething troubles?

Pretty but don't go for dinner

by mrswilder

Meet your date here for drinks before a show or event, or bring your parents here for a drink when they come to the neighborhood, everyone will be impressed and the outdoor tented tables are very romantic. But until the staff is actually trained in how to BE a staff, and the food takes a turn for the above-mediocre, it's difficult to see how they can charge what they do and expect customers to feel blessed to be in the space. The "jazz trio" also ruined our night. Tell me, WHO wants to shout over three long haired hippies having an "improv" jam session? Otherwise it just feels like a fashion show with one named euros talking about their art -- and it just made me want to go home and shower.

Pros: Decor, location, outdoor area

Cons: food , service, music

As a Turk.....

by pierre05

I have had a lot of Turkish food in my time. When this place opened my brother and I checked it out ASAP and we decided that it is worthwhile food. We have been back a couple of times since. The service isn't that great, Williamsburg is notorious for bad service. The beautiful ambiance (reminds me of Istanbul) and the food make up for that. These reviews say it isn't enough food. My brother and I have never left hungry. Perhaps you have not been ordering the right way and most likely used to eating at TGIF where the portions could feed a starving nation. When eating Turkish food you must order many meze's, there are so many tasty things to eat, the small turkish pizza, the borek, the dolma, the zucchini pancakes these are excellent. For entree I would recommend Doner, and chicken shish is excellent.

Pros: ambiance, food is good, the nargarita

Cons: poor service

Great decor, no question, The outside seating and the interior of the restaurant make this a great spot to hang out on summer nights. The food and the service, however, leave a lot to be desired. 3 strikes- never again!

by michaeldrums26

It potentially seemed to be a great place and the decor was awesome. The furniture is made out of old water tanks, a metaphor for the post-industrial ambiance of the ever-changing neighborhood. It stops there. We felt that we were forced out of our water tank booth. Our food order was mixed up; the service was horrible and unfriendly. The patrons are totally 50-dollar die jobs, mass marketed ironic Ts, on mid-west physiques. The music is like Miami techno (trying too hard). The people that work there are too ugly to be rude. The bartender there is a big skank too.

Pros: nice patio, awsome furniture deco, great use of space

Cons: bad food, bad service, lame music and people

Great ambience and friendly staff but utterly incompetent. The appetizers were so-so and the main course...well, I didn't get my main course (Sea Bass). I waited for 45 minutes for my entree to realize that the waiter never put the order in. Due to time constraints, I was forced to finish my girlfriend's entree. I would not recomment this place - they need to get their act together.

Having read the previous reviews, I think that everyone should give My Moon a chance. Though I definetly agree the portions are not that great, so don't come hungry, but do try the food it's not that bad! The atmosphere and the outside seating really makes up for the cons at this place, but with time it will pick up to be what it is destined to be, considering the location. The owners are very friendly and if you ever want to rent the space, I would definetly recommend it, they are willing to work with you and your needs.

Nice place, small portions, so-so food.

I can't agree more with the cshakes review. We had the same exact experience with the shish kebab.
Tough meat when we asked for medium, 4 peices of meat and the words "uncle ben's minute rice" also came out of our mouth. The prices aren't bad if they served larger portions. Go have a drink there the space is beautiful and buy an appetizer maybe, but pass on dinner, not well cooked and small portions. Staff is ok, will get better. The person at the door was very friendly. Hope reviews like this will turn the place around, since it has wonderful potential.

Pros: space, ambience, bar

Cons: food, food, food

Beautiful Space, Awful Service, Mediocre Food.

I went to Mymoon last night for dinner with high expectations. The space is cavernous and beautifully designed and the manager/greeter was very friendly. After being seated, and waiting maybe 10 minutes, my companion and I were finally approached by a waitress for whom the word "Incompetent" would be a compliment. We order a number of small plates, all of which arrived cold, and with insulting portions (3 Small Grilled Shrimp, One Small Octopus Leg). After asking 4 different people for the Check, I finally gave up, and went to the manager to get it myself. Maybe they just haven't got their act together yet, but it will be a long time before I give them another chance.

Pros: Great Space

Cons: Incompetent Waitstaff, Insulting Portions, Slow Service

Sultry, exotic vibe

Been there 3x already in 2 weeks! Friendly service. Amazing space! Colorful, multi-tiered terrace with 2 lovely cabanas, huge brick high-ceiling dining space inside decked with a full bar & trimmed with rotating monthly art exhibits lends itself to a "Raiders of the Lost Ark" look. There is also a cool lounge space beside the dining room that's good just for chillin' listening to live jazz or as the evening progresses rockin' as the DJ's spins.

Appetizers are wonderful, esp. the hummus, crabcakes, lentil patties, grilled calamari & shrimp. The Turkish pizza is all dough & leaves nothing to be desired & the avocado salad is really guacamole. The winner is Kadayifi Alabalik, a deboned whole sea trout wrapped in fresh shredded wheat served with tomato basil sauce & greens. It was so tasty, fresh & rich! The lamb dishes are succulent!

Pros: moderate prices, awesome space, accomodating service

Cons: smoking outdoors
