i don't know what that other person's problem was, we go to megs all the time, we love it there. we don't opt to sit outside when its a 100 degrees, why would you want to do that?... anyway, we go there a lot, we never have a long wait, the food always comes out pretty reasonably and for a shore town, the price is great. i have never had a bad time there and i highly recommend it. i don't recommend sitting outside when it is a 100, but we always have a good meal there.

It was a hot day - but we opted to sit outside to enjoy the outdoors. (We went inside first to tell our waitress we would like to sit outside.) We received no menus and eventually went back in and got them ourselves. (We would have grabbed them ourselves when we first got there, but there are numerous signs saying "ask hostess to be seated" - making it a more formal atmosphere.) After a long wait, the waitress took our order. The food took forever. We watched as people who were seated moments before us received their food long before ours arrived. Our waitress asked if we wanted some fruit while we waited, b/c the kitchen was "so backed up." The fruit never came - as it became clear it wasn't a real offer to accommodate us. My husband was also annoyed by their failure to bring him water even after he requested it, as we waited patiently in the 100 degree + heat.

When our food finally arrived - my omelet arrived w/o the homefries that I ordered (no apology was offered - there was barely a passing comment regarding their noticeable absence). Our waitress again offered me "fruit", after I non-verbally expressed some disappointment (that after the long wait my breakfast was missing the best part). My bowl of melon soon after arrived. A minute into our meal - the manager came out and profusely apologized to the people sitting next to us. Our dining neighbor - a soccer mom with two kids who sat quietly while she talked loudly on the phone for a good 30 mins about every teacher at her children's school - received their food only minutes after us even though they arrived a good 20 mins after us. They were comp'd with extra treats and offered extensive apologizes and told that the manager - (not the waitress who actually took their order) "wrote it up as a to go order by mistake." Strange - no fake explanation or apologies were offered to us even though we had waited longer for our food.

It should be noted that our dining neighbor was informed immediately after the waitress placed their order that Meg's was in fact out of the spinach for her salad - so she could change her order if she would like. I was offered no such courtesy.

All in all - the food was mediocre, the wait was excessive. We wasted the better part of two hours at Megs - which wasn't even busy (most likely understaffed.) We were very disappointed and would not waste our money there again...

The food is delicious. Only been there for breakfast but hear that her soups during the winter are great. All homemade. Service can be slow especially if she has alot of take out.
