I love the Bryn Mawr Film Institute. I've only been there a few times on my own, but it's been a great source of movie-going entertainment for the Saturday kids' matinees. Not too loud & a great selection, in my opinion.

"Art House" movies without the trek into the city! The movies are sometimes obscure, but usually very good...sometimes they make it into the big movie chains, but sometimes not. Annual membership for family of 4 is $90, but then you get discounted ticket prices of $4.50 each. Membership is NOT required...tickets are then $9 each -- still a bargain compared to the chain theaters!
About once a month there is a free-screening of a yet-to-be released movie. I never walk away feeling disappointed with what I've seen, and always feel I've gotten MORE than my money's worth at this theater. Staff is friendly, snacks are cheap and movies are "films", not just movies. A cheap night out on the town!

If you're looking for slightly obscure independent films, then you've come to the right place. This selection here is a bit more eclectic, but the options are more for the older crowd. Also, they only show two films at once, and there are limited showtimes.

PROS:
CONS: Limited film selection
