Pasadena Playhouse

I've seen very expensive Broadway-type musicals in the main theater and smaller productions by Furious Theater in the balcony theater, and enjoyed myself both times. It is in a nice area of Pasadena.

The Pasadena Playhouse offers one of the most eclectic, lavishly produced theater seasons in the country. Big-budget musicals, contemporary classics and world premieres make up a typical 6-play season. The theatre was built in 1925 and is designated the State Theater of California. Major Hollywood stars have graced its stage during its long history. For more cutting-edge material, check out Furious Theatre Company on its intimate second stage, The Balcony Theatre.

A very cool venue to see any of the shows during the season. Grab dinner at the Mexican place across the way and walk over to see a show. Spanish style in design, they sell refreshments outside the foyer. I have enjoyed most of the shows at this venue. Look for discounted tickets for students or last minute tickets.

Fantastic venue. Historic site whose stage has seen some of histories most famous actors. Broadway quality productions in an intimate setting at bargain prices.
