The Scera Shell provides an amazing backdrop for live theater... Mt. Timpanogos. This is a local live theater that is a great spot during the summer. Take a picnic in and sit on blankets on the ground or bring lawn chairs (they also rent plastic chairs for a nominal price). The theater is in an amphitheater and the inexpensive prices allow families to attend. It is local talent but well worth the price. The crowd gets into the show in a fun fashion also.

If you haven't been to the Scera lately go there. New beautiful seats. New decor, and it is tastefully done.
What a wonderful place to go now.

This is a fun place to come and see plays, but don't expect incredible acting.
When you go you can rent a chair or sit on the hill and watch the show. I think it is fun to go and it usually isn't really expensive, but sitting on the grass can get uncomfortable after a while.

Scera is a great local movie theater. They often show old movies and do not show any rated R movies there. In a historic building. An old tradition. Would highly recommend.

Scera theater is a quaint family run movie and stage theater that has been in Orem for ages. The prices are very reasonable and they always have good local talent acting out great family-friendly plays. They even have a glass encased cry room, so when your children act up you can take them inside and still see the play.

PROS: Great value and very family friendly
CONS: A bit run-down.

The Scera is a community owned and operated for-profit theatre I believe. As such it does need some work on the inside the seats are pretty torn up and the floor needs to be refinished and is in need of a good mopping (but what movie theatre doesnt need a good mopping?), but its fairly reasonable to see a family flick here (less $ than a 1st-run theatre). They have a nice lobby that also serves as a gallery for interesting local art and some other fun things like a giant stained glass globe if you need to kill some time before your show its fun to take a look around. In addition to showing movies here they also show live local productions now and then. Everything they have here is always family-oriented, which is nice. Parking can be something of a headache if you arrive just before showtime, but usually you can find something.
