I was hesitatant to sign up for classes, they had a waiting list and the cost was more than most. But, I kept getting referred to them by friends, family, my vet, the guy at the dog park, at EVERY turn, it was check out Puppy Manners. And am I glad I did. Becky and Dave are fantastic not just with dogs but people as well. They not only helped my dog turn the corner they made me realize that I was the one that needed to change most.
Their love and dedication to dogs is one thing but the dedication they have for helping kids with Reading with Rover is another. Thought I would never see the day that MY dog would be a therapy dog but I actually think there is hope for him because of the coaching and help I got from Puppy Manners and company.

Great place to board your dog as well but you have to be a student to be a guest there so just another "perk" my dog gets.

Ok. Lets just say that day one, week one I walk in SO nervous my dog was wondering who is this guy holding my leash? Dave Bishop, Becky's husband has this intuitive nature and he stops me and says "hey, take a breath....breath, it's just puppy school" That made me laugh. Then Becky tells the whole class to not stress out about our dogs behavior, "This is WHY you're here, if they were perfect you would not have signed on" So right away the class gets a laugh, I feel totaly off the hook for my dogs bad behavior and class begins. It was REALLY fun for my dog but most of all, fun for me as well.

Puppy Manners has a real social connection and after six weeks I made a few friends, I feel like I have puppy coaches for life and I plan to take the class (StarBarks) again just for fun and to keep me involved with my dog.

Puppy Manners, Dave, Becky, Nate, and all the other trainers are easy going, funny, helpful and give sound practical advice to what at the times seems an impossible problem to solve. Every bit of advice I got, worked. Just can't compelain here at all about this company or the programs they offer.

Becky is nothing short of brilliant with her knowledge about not just dogs, but your dog. Both Dave and Becky has a gifted way with dogs. I feared for a moment when she choose MY dog to demo but when she took my dogs lead, and she walked around the room while she talked it was as if my dog was haning on every word? How does she do that? Her love for the dogs don't just show, it glows! Nice to know that she and Dave continue to have such a passion for what they do, makes a huge difference from other dog training schools I have gone to where if they can't get what they want from the dog with a cookie, they have no idea what to do. Other training places I experened had no out of the box thinking and at Puppy Manners they had all sorts of things to offer that work. If one method did not work they have so many other ways to communicate to each dog. They are all different and Dave and Becky seem to have a real gift for understanding what they need.

On one hand I wish they were bigger because it's hard to get into their classes due to popularity. On the other hand I appreciate their stay small and keep it about your community additude. It's no wonder Puppy Manners, Dave and Becky have won so many "BEST" awards. Most recently they were chosen Best of Western Washington and while they got my vote, I knew they would win because of the personalized caring and committed service they provide.
I treck over to Puppy Manners from Seattle and continue to do so again and again. I've tried several trainers in Seattle and they are either just simply not good or they don't listen. Dave and Becky really, really are good listeners. Maybe they took a lesson from their Reading with Rover dogs, not sure but they are wonderful for our dog loving commuity and do a lot for kids as well.

I'm a list person so here it goes:

1. The trainers, Becky, Dave, Nate, Heather, Annemarie, Eve and assistants are SO great and helpful. My questions in a group class were not only answered, the delivery was really good. (I??m amazed I remembered all their names!)

2. Clear instructions, no guilt, advice given are right on and Becky and Dave are really funny and keep the class moving so it's not boring. Had no idea there were so many ways to get a little dog to "sit" :)

3. Out of the box techniques, not cookie cutter trainers. Each student I noticed was given different advice and equipment recommendations. What works for one dog may not work for your dog, I felt that we were getting the best advice for our dog.

4. Training room is huge and comfortable seating. They encourage the whole family to come and there are a lot of people but still lots of room and no one is without a seat. Prior to our experience at Puppy Manners we were chastised at another facility for bringing our kids but Puppy Manners welcomed the whole family, which was just a relief.

5. Kid friendly. I have discovered that the best dog trainers are not only good with dogs but also with people and most of all, good with kids. My kids love going to Puppy Manners as well and that was a total surprise! Thought we would end up dragging them to class but they were counting the minutes and bugging us to get going!

Highly recommend them. Don??t waste your money anywhere else, spend a little more and get way more for your investment.

When we signed up for classes at Puppy Manners we got an email and it told us to bring our sense of humor. Good thing because Dave and Becky Bishop don't take dog training so serious like some dog trainers do. They didn't make us feel guilty because our dog was not up to snuff, they helped us. And the Bishops do have a good sense of humor which can help in a puppy training class where things can get a bit stressed.

As if the relaxed atmosphere was not enough the educational value we got was well worth the price and being on the wait list three times. Puppy Manners was everything my friends and vet told me it would be and only wish they had more classes so me and my furry best friend could keep going. I did repeat the StarBarks class not because we failed but it was just so fun, we did much better on the second round too. There were several repeaters and actually made a few good freinds in class as well!

The puppy classes were great, especially week one with Dave's lesson on puppy handling and bonding. I really do think that made a huge difference for me and my dog. Dave is great and Becky is super and the support the offer is great. I've been to several dog trainers in the area and Puppy Manners, hands down is the best.

As a first time dog owner, or does he own me? Not sure but either way, it's great and I'm sure I would not be nearly as content with my canine companion if not for the help and support of the Bishop's Puppy Manners programs. I had to drive from Queen Anne but well worth the drive. Becky, she's great. Very calm and the dogs just sense that she loves them and the change in them is almost immediate when she handles them. I really love it that she explains that we don't need to ever yell at your dogs anymore than you should yell at your kids. I don't want to over state but it's changed my life, training my dog with Puppy Manners. I'm a more patient guy even with my kids! The lessons learned really do transfer to my every day life. And Dave, great guy! He's a big guy but a total teddy bear of a human being and it's clear his love for dogs and knowledge is expeptional. I highly recommend Puppy Manners. I agree, they need more stars!

Start with the puppy classes because they get to socialize which is really good for the puppy. At first seems almost intimidating but Dave and Becky do such a good job explaining what to look for when they play and when it's not play that all the anxiety goes out the window. If I could give them a 10 star review, I would!

I love the classes, have taken all they offer, also with Katie at Cascade Kennels for advanced classes and it's just a great experience.

Dave and Becky are not just great communicators, you know the first night they are good people with good hearts and they do go the extra miles. Then never make you feel bad or guilty. They know we are not pro dog trainers and see themselves as your personal coach. That I really appreciated. Everyone can benefit from a good coach, even if it's a puppy coach. :)

Oh, they do have puppy play dates at the ranch and I highly recommend them also, well worth the 20 dollars and they feed you! I've gone to other play dates at other facilities and puppy play was free or almost free an I would much rather pay more to go to Puppy Manners because you get so much more. I really felt like I found the perfect place for me to go with my dog. They have a wait list because they are so popular but if you get on it you will get into their classes, you need to be on it though! Got my notice to enroll after being on the wait list and could not believe they filled in a day! Phew, I got in and felt lucky I did. Worth the wait for sure!

I took my dog Bob whom I got from the shelter to Puppymanners. I am so glad and happy that I did. When I first got Bob he cowered in the corner. He'd pee whenever anyone even looked at him. I didn't know what to do whatsoever. I'd heard that Becky Bishop of Puppymanners was one of the best in the state so I signed up for her classes "Star Barks". She taught me how to be the leader and better my relationship with my dog. Bob was more than a dog, he was what Becky termed "a project" and her methods and her delivery was nothing but positive. She took time outside of class to help me and Bob find our way to a great relationship.

I found myself learning so much in her classes and highly recommend them. My wife and I were talking just last night how Bob had stopped being a project and had become just one of the family, hanging out with the in-laws on Thanksgiving instead of cowering under the table like he did last year. I can't thank Becky and Puppymanners enough.

I don't think you will ever find anyone that cares as much as Becky and Dave about their students. Dave often stays after class to help the dogs that seem to need that extra attention. The email support is very helpful because sometimes in a group class you just can't have take up time or don't want to air your dirty laundry about your dog. Being able to email Becky or Dave about a problem during the session is so helpful, just could not find that kind of help anywhere else.

Becky always made sure that all students do not leave without some advice and the advise is given with great humor and sincerity. Been to a lot of dog training classes and this by far was the most positive and fun! She is always really good with kids and I found it helpful that children were allowed and encouraged to participate in class. It really is a family affiar and was nice to see families there in class. Did make for a crowded class, lots of people but that's ok, my dog needed the distractions! The training room also was huge and parking not an issue. On nice days we actually went outside and practiced there as well, Becky likes to mix it up and we liked that as it was never boring and not a lot of repeated exercises.

My experience at Puppy Manners was very negative. While the content of the instruction is excellent the delivery leaves a lot to be desired. It is obvious that Becky knows her stuff but she insults and ridicules the class members. One woman in class had a very active Australian Shepherd and when Becky walked this dog she chastised the owner by nastily saying that the dog shouldn't be pulling so hard on the leash. Why does Becky think this woman is in her class? She wants instruction to help with these issues. Honestly, dog class should be fun. If you don't mind a rude instructor than this would be a good place to train your dog but if you would like instruction without attitude go somewhere else.

We took both of our dogs to one of Puppy Manners' classes, Starbarks 101, which isn't just for puppies. The class included a brief playtime for the dogs to socialize, which really helped them focus during the class session. Class size is kept small, and very personalized attention is given to each dog. We will definitely go back for another class as the quality of the instructors was excellent, and both our dogs enjoyed the class.

The class we took was at Cascade Kennels, which has plenty of parking.
