Being a former WAMU customer I quickly became fed up with the "Mega-Bank" Chase experience. The local bank relationship that I enjoyed with WAMU was quickly replaced by automated messages, shady fee assessments and new and inexperienced employees that were about as helpful as a blown out light. Maybe this should be in YELP but I really wanna rave about the experience that I've had with WSECU as my new bank. The experience has been near-intimate and the feeling that I am just another turnip to be squeezed for blood is non-existent. Nearly every fee schedule is lower (some as much as 35%) and I feel like I am actually in a partnership with someone that wants to provide me with value in turn. Rave for WSECU

I joined this credit union in 1997 when I was a graduate student being paid a stipend by UW. They have always treated me with respect, and are far more "human" than large banks, even though I didn't have a ton of money.

I got my car loan, motorcycle loan, first home mortgage, and have checking and savings accounts at this bank. Even when I lived out of state for a few years, I kept this account open since I had such a good experience here.

Most of my transactions can be done online, or through other credit unions' ATMs, so I never have to go into the bank. I did need to go there to change the name on my account and it was done quickly and painlessly.

If you are able to, sign up for this bank - it is excellent! After many bad experiences with huge chain banks, I will never close this account, even if I move to Timbuktu.
