I went with friends to the Gypsy Bar and I didn't like it much. It is decorated very nicely and they had techno dance music playing. The Gypsy Bar is an upscale bar that you have to get dressed up to go to. The people who were there all seemed stuck up and self important. I was not comfortable here at all. There is a $10 cover to get in and the drinks were overpriced. The bartender was nice, but our wait person was rude. On a positive note it was amusing to watch some of the people walk around thinking they were the most important thing since the potato chip.

PROS: nicely decorated, music
CONS: Stuck up patrons, hard to find parking, overpriced drinks, rude wait staff

This place is overrated. I am from Manhattan and this place needs to stop acting like their some fancy club in the Meatpacking District. Guess what?! You're not in friggin Soho--get over yourselves!

Let's start off by saying their bouncers SUCK! They think they're hot $*@!. And again, you're not in NYC. Dude, you probably can't read and you work at a friggin bar on Boylston Street in Boston! You're also like 5'5" and 120 lbs--seriously?! I had the same experience with a friend below with the sneakers. He wasn't even wearing sneakers--they were kind of loafer-like. In fact he had on the same shoes as this guy in front of us who got in. I am pretty sure the guys in front of us got in because of their race and my friend wasn't allowed to get in because of his race. This place should get sued and then they'll get off their high horse!

Inside it's always overly crowded with a bunch of gross smelly skeezy ethnic guys. They play alot of crappy house music and you can barely dance because it's so damn crowded!

I guess it's fine just to try out once--but, be prepared to be disappointed. I'm in law school right now and I think once I pass the bar exam, a lawsuit against Gypsy will be one of the first things I initiate. Anyone else in?

Will not be returning to Gypsy Bar!

Me and some friends lost $90 in cover at the door when one member of our group got turned away during my bachelor party this past weekend. We lined up to go in and each paid the cover as we walked in. I made it as far as the bathroom down the hall from the entrance when I was called back to the door by a friend.

The door man, who was also the GM of the club said with a real nasty attitude "He's not getting in, he's wearing sneakers." (which were black soccer shoes, and had gotten into a few clubs already) I was a little surprised at his tone, to which I tried to negotiate saying we were a bachelor party and were going to spend a decent amount of money" It was then that he informed me that after being turned away, my friend tried to hop the rope and sneak by. Obviously I realize this is unacceptable so I said fine we'll move along. Then the the GM replies "I'm not giving you your cover back". That's when I nearly lost it.

Getting ripped off $90 for being past the door for 2 minutes is not justifiable. If he had said, take your money and move along, I would have been annoyed but would have done so without an issue. We had a dress code issue earlier in the night where exactly that happened. But instead this GM saw this as an opportunity to collect $90 for nothing. I argued with him and he said I'm not returning it because I'm not telling the rest of you to leave, just him, you can stay. This is obviously BS, we weren't going to go in without him.

So this GM was a total jerk (to put it very nicely) and we got ripped off, thus the reason for this bad review. Me and my friends will find plenty of other bars to spend our money at and you should too.

Cons: Shady practices, not professional at the door.

Found out about it from InstantNightLife website and skipped the line!

Pros: awesome DJ all night

Cons: dance floor gets crowded at end of the night

February 11, 2010

I checked out instantnightlife's website before going here and it was exactly as described. Great music but expensive drinks

Pros: great music

Cons: expensive drinks

February 07, 2010

I really like this place... I checked it out on the InstantNightlife website before going out and had a good time. Dance floor can get super-crowded (and hot) sometimes though...

Pros: Cool crowd, nice bouncers

Cons: Sometimes long line

January 21, 2010

I've been to Gypsy Bar a few times, and always had a blast. The music is fun, its always packed and I always leave feeling good. But the drinks are too pricey. It is a trade off, because it is a really fun place to go, but I've got to be sure my paycheck has cleared before I go.

Pros: Awesome music and atmosphere

Cons: I Don't like spending $12 on red bull and vodka

Kevin Troy- The staff you keep....

Let me start by saying that I have never felt the need to give a review until now. I am a firm believer that if a place is that good, people will find out by word of mouth. At the same time, I also believe you shouldn't take a bad review to heart due to differences in opinion. However, after the level of disrespect I received at Gypsy bar, unparalleled by any restaurant, club, or any venue for that matter, I felt the need to save anyone that might read this the time and money.

I am not writing to complain about the cover charge, overpriced drinks, or the crowd Gypsy Bar attracts as most reviews have. To each their own.

Never in my life have I ever experienced a staff as contemptible, ungracious and class-less as Gypsy Bar employs and defends. The level of attitude, disrepect and rudeness is mind blowing. I didn't realize that being a Gypsy Bar employee entitles someone to treat customers in a manner you wouldn't even expect from an enemy. You would think the effort made to provide a classier atmosphere would translate to a friendlier staff, but you would be sadly mistaken. This place knows nothing about service with a smile, so imagine my surprise when after a little research I find that the owner has a small empire of restaurants and clubs in Boston and throughout the country. Maybe this is why his attention to the quality of bartenders at Gypsy Bar has fallen to the way side. Because no matter what I or anyone else writes here, he knows people will still go. But if by writing this, I save one person from completely ruining their night, my review will have been worth the effort.

Kevin Troy, I am calling you out on this. Your bartender with the short black hair is a HORRIBLE person, and you should be embarassed that she is a representation of your establishment. Not only did she yell at me for what I can say was a completely unwarranted reason, but she continued to yell at the one employee who was actually willing to do their job. Surely in this economy, you could find someone who would be more than happy to treat their customers with the respect and decency that I would hope you would want and expect for your paying patrons.

great place in Boston!

Pros: great place

Cons: no drawbacks

October 26, 2009

This was my first, and last, experience at Gypsy Bar... $60+ for 6 MIXED shots, not even straight liquor... $10 for a house vodka drink, and a completely rude bartender in the back who told me "You tell your girlfriends not to come back here," AFTER I left her an unwarranted tip. Manager-- you should really fire the Asian girl who works in the back bar by the dance floor, her attitude will lose you A LOT of business.

This place has so much attitude and nothing at all to justify the attitude or overpriced drinks.

Best of all, the coatcheck girls LOST the belt that was on my coat. So I pay $10 to get in, $10 for a HOUSE drink served with complete rudeness, and $5 to check my coat, only to find they completely lost the belt on my coat and seemed BOTHERED by the fact I asked them to look for it, aka to do their jobs.

Coming from New York, maybe Boston does not have many other options for a more "upscale" club to go to if you want to dance... but this place is trying to be upscale and failing. One star is being too gracious. I WANT MY BELT BACK.

Pros: music

Cons: everything else

October 09, 2009

In my entire life, I've never had an experience like this.

As I do normally, I opened a tab. At the end of the night, I closed my tab, upon which I discovered that while some of my drinks were there, some were not, and 10 vodka drinks, unexpectedly, were there instead. 10 vodka drinks, just fyi, comes to $90.

Upon informing the bartender of this, she called over a manager, who brought over a bouncer and informed me that if I did not pay, right now, they would call the police for me attempting to steal from the bar. He continued to inform me that we had had a good night, there was no reason for it to end badly.

For a reputable establishment in Boston, I was shocked. Unfortunately, as I work for a newspaper, I've subsequently learned that this is not an isolated incident. I urge you, stay away--its not worth it.

Pros: Beautiful people, nice atmosphere

Cons: Racketeering!

July 24, 2009

Gypsy Bar is the saddest little bar in Boston that likes to pretend it's in Vegas. This place lacks class.

Filled with men in chain necklaces, half-buttoned shirts, hair gel, and about six ounces of AXE, it's the skeeviest rip-off around.

I once went during in Ashlee Simpson appearance (see, if she goes there, it's lame) and the manager yelled at me being rude, although I was sitting in a corner with my friend. At the bar, I asked the bartender for a martini list, (after waiting ten minutes) she gave me a Cosmo and a receipt. Gross.

Also, the bouncers are gross guys who think they're intimidating. Seems like they just need to get la id.

Go here to waste your money and hang out with people who think they're in Vegas.

Pros: It's pretty.

Cons: Management, Bar Service, Lines, Covers, Bouncers, Atmosphere

April 13, 2009

i've been to gypsy bar a million times because its fun, clean, and the music is always great. you can actually have a conversation in the front bar, and the dance floor can be fun if you stick with your friends. the cover is $10 after 10pm, so get there before if you can. the place is packed by 11-11:30pm. the bartenders are pretty friendly, but the drinks are average but expensive at $9 a pop. still, gypsy bar is always a good time, which is why i keep going.

Pros: fun music, good front bar

Cons: drinks are expensive

January 27, 2009

I agree with the users who rated the staff at gypsy as rude and impolite. We were ordering drinks off of this bartender, giving her steady business, generous tips, and when I needed a drink of water she just blurted out "NO, I'm too busy" in this ill-mannered tone. She really wasn't busy bc no one else was ordering and she looked right at me before I asked. She was just being a downright b* *ch.

A little common courtesy goes a long way, especially since the customers are the only reason you have a job in the first place.

Pros: not a bad setup in the front of the house

Cons: Rude staff/bartenders, overly crowded dancefloor, ridiculous coat check.

January 26, 2009

This is a great place! If you don't respect women, love fighting or love to toss your coookies!

Went here one time, got in and the staff had an little attitude as if they were prison guards or did not like the job, but I don't blame them after what I saw. The place is nice inside, good decor and you feel the place is classy by the way it looks, but the crowd ruins it! If your a women and want to dance, you will get attacked like a pack of lions eating it's prey. As soon as I saw women on the dance floor, men would come from everywhere, grab and grind on them and it would end up with 50 men and zero women dancing. Went to the bathroom where there was cookies in the stall and someone else tossing cookies in the sink. Went back to the bar where a brawl broke out and a girl got a glass smashed in her face and was cut, her boyfriend then started to toss cookies in a bus bucket, no idea why...... Then another big fight broke out, but by that point I had had enough of such a classy bar. I left and have not been back since. If you have class and want to have fun avoid this place!

Maybe I will see about lunch there and write another review!

Pros: Ambience, location, popular and busy.

Cons: Staff, people that go there.

October 11, 2008

Love the place, especially after spending the past weekend in clubs in Manhattan. The atmosphere is sophisticated but comfortible. The crowd was polite and mature. The service is good, no Manhattan snob attitude. DJ was good (TAO LV was on), vibe was right. Definitely recommend it even after comparisons with overly reated top bars/clubs in NY, LV, SH... Wait, Red Socks game was on tonight so your milage might vary.. ;).

Pros: great atmosphere, friendly staff, mature crowd, good music

September 02, 2008

This was my first time here and it got crowded very fast! Tons of good looking peeps. Dance floor was crowded but that's how I like it. My only issue was that the dance floor was way too hot. I got there with no lines a few minutes before 10pm but once 10pm rolled around, tons of people came in. Nice atmosphere, large bars in the front and back. The music could've been better, they played alot of 80's and 90's songs. I would def go back!

Pros: hot dance floor

Cons: great atmosphere

June 21, 2008

The music was loud, not bad, dance floor crowed, but people enjoying it. Howerver, the under 25 chicks with their skirts halfway up their butts and cleavage like there's no tomorrow, need to realize that Mr Right isn't here. Mr Right Now is lurking around every corner. So don't get an attitude when I check you out.

Pros: Lots of good looking girls.

Cons: Too much attitude from bartenders to customers. This is not Manhattan, get over yourself.

February 03, 2008

The word "courtesy" means nothing to them. The Bouncers feel like they are doing you a favor by letting you into the shady place. They obviously underpaid and have huge EGO trips. They feel mighty powerful by denying you entry if your shoes are not sparkly black.
Go to ANY other bar in the world.... just dont go to GYPSY its the pits.

Pros: none

Cons: Staff has a serious attutude problem...bouncers have huge ego trips..

January 02, 2008

I'm not sure what all the negative review are about. ..I'm from NYC and recently reloacted here and haven't experienced the club scene much. For NYE my friend and I bought tickets to the Gypsy bars party. It was a blast! Sure, the door guys were asses, and the drinks were expensive but what do you expect really? The setting was great, fun and classy mixed. There were all kinds of people there. Yes, I could see the 'poser' comments being true, but there were also just true, fun, Bostonians having a good time. Any bar is going to have their share of 21 yr olds. We paid $60 for a ticket (not bad for NyE in Boston) and it inculded, hor's douevrs, a midnight tost, and entrance. Drinks were pricey at an average of $8.50/drink. .but again, Boston on NYE what would you expect? The drinks were strong, and the shots were good too. They played a great mix of fun music, everything from the lastest remixs of hip-hop to some fun oldies. The dance floor was big and still packed. The only negative comment I have is the location of the coat check. IT's alllll the way in the back of the bar down a narrow hallway which is a paid when everyone is headed that way at the end of the night. Over all I would absolutly check out Gyspy Bar on our next girls night (lots of hot guys too ladies :)).

Pros: Great girls night/atmosphere/music/crowd

Cons: lay out/cost

September 18, 2007

I have to give the gypsy bar credit they pack the place every weekend and the owners know how to change when it get's tired..! This place does a good business and i still love to go visit it when i get a chance to go in the downtown area.. The haters talk about NYC no--boston will never be Ny it's to conservative so we have to take what we can get...

Pros: roomy to move around...

Cons: parking lousy and long lines...

September 01, 2007

The bouncers are freaking nasty and treat people like s h i t. I was stanting in a main lobby by the seats. The first thing that bouncer told me was: "Get the fcuk out here. If you gonna stand here I'll kick you out of the club." Huh? What? That's right - if you want such treatment, go to Gipsy and see for yourself.

August 27, 2007

We went there on a Saturday night in August - and had such an amazing fun.... we paid an entry of $10, but it was worth the money!!!!

July 31, 2007

went there on a sat night with some buddies. the line is pretty long but once you get past it the place is worth the wait. it was packed with a good crowd and good music and the bartenders were the finest i've seen in the city. definitely a must to check out when in boston. i also saw one of their girls on aol for the hottest bartender in america competition. what more can i say - the place is pretty sweet

April 17, 2007

I think that the line is to long, they are really picky on what you wear and it coast way to much for a beer.

Pros: Nothing

Cons: To much for a beer

March 25, 2007

The Gypsy Bar is always packed so head out early to avoid a ridiculous line. I've been here a few times, and it's pretty much always the same...extremely crowded, hard to get a drink...etc.. But if you like the club scene, it's a pretty good place to just meet people... The last time I went, there was this crazy drunk guy just standing outside checking out girls and making obnoxious comments. I was a little annoyed that the Gypsy Bar did nothing to remedy that situation, so I doubt I'll be going back.... But hey, if you like random guys pulling boners on you while your dancing, this is the place to go! Or better yet, spilled drinks and lots of sweaty, smelly people whispering sweet nothings into your throbbing ears.

Pros: Above average looking people, good place to meet people if you're into that...

Cons: Long lines, crazy drunks outside, sweaty perverts...

February 21, 2007

Hello...
I am a long time resident of Boston and I have to say that each and every time my girlfriends and I get together for a "girls night out" we absolutely love to go to Gypsy Bar. It is always a great place to meet people and Dance and just enjoy yourself. The front lounge area is where we like to start off. It is fantastic to crab a drink, chat, and get ready to get the dancing started. The club area is GREAT. Gypsy has a huge dance floor, great music and plenty of bar space to get drinks. The set-up there is perfect! I suggest that if you are new to town you check it out. If you are not new to town but haven't been there yet, take my word for it...It is sooo much fun.! It always looks great and there are always really cool events going on there to spice things up. The music will keep your body moving and the beautiful people will keep your eyes moving. I just love it at Gypsy and I know you will too!

Pros: Ambience, Music, and beautiful people

January 15, 2007

I am originally from Miami and just moved to Beantown for business....my friends had been raving about Gypsy Bar, so i figured i would check it out.....Good thing I did the decor and setting was chic, the bartenders were fast and gorgous, 95% of the girls that were there on Sat night were beautiful and didnt look like the trashy teeny-boppers u would see in most clubs in the city!! If you want to feel like your going to a club in Vegas i highly recommend u get suited up and head over to GYPSY....thank you for a good time and bring back DJ AM if you can,,,,,sick show!!

Pros: Ambience, Quick Service, Beautiful Crowd, Saturday Nights

Cons: Longs Lines (so go early)

January 14, 2007

I normally never take anyone's reviews seriously because they are most likely over-reacting or don't belong at whatever bar they went to anyway. But as someone that has lived in NYC and gone to several upscale lounges, my friends and I decided to give Gypsy Bar a try since we had just moved to Boston a few months ago. Let me tell you - all of the negative reviews are true. I saw the line and don't understand why ANYONE would wait on this long line that rounds the block and is longer than any line I've ever seen, even at the opening night of Cain, in NYC. But I wasn't even mad about that because we didn't have to wait on line and just walked in through the guest line entrance (we never wait on lines).
Besides the $25 cover fee for a supposed DJ AM that was spinning (by the way any club that has to charge that high an amount for cover is seriously lacking in substance and trying to hype up their image). The bar was hardly full, besides the normal gaggle of trashy girls in sparkly tube tops, trying to act like they were actually trendy. The guys, I can't even comment enough, let's just say shiny chain necklaces and greasy hair were in abundance. In addition to the crowd, I highly don't enjoy sipping a cocktail (which were strong, can't complain about those) in the back bar that smelled like a locker room. The smell was so foul and offensive that people had to take breaks from dancing to get fresh air in the front of the bar. Why anyone would think that dancing in these rooms was worth being in that smell I have NO clue.

In short, this bar is AWFUL. I would gladly pay $25 if the bar was actually good but it's all a facade. Gypsy Bar is a cheap knockoff with an even cheaper imitation of a crowd full of wannabes. I would gladly sit at a cheap dive bar if that is my only alternative. Definitely better places in Boston to go and spend your night.

Pros: There are lots of things to make fun of to keep you entertained.

Cons: Everything about the place

January 09, 2007

The place is good for the money, though for those who are top 40/hip-hop heads, they play some weird music sometimes. It's split in half, so the place actually is bigger than it looks.

Drinks are always expensive, as anywhere else you go in Boston, and for a $5 cover, it's not bad (though it's $10 after 10pm).

Pros: Parking, spaceous, coat check, deep dance floor.

Cons: Cheap feel sometimes, dingy spaces, crowded a lot, "eurotrash" music.

December 12, 2006

This place was fun! I definitely recommend it. People should try it and decide it for themselves. However, I felt like it was way, way too crowded to the point where you can't move, dance, or do anything. People were constantly spilling drinks all over me. Not their fault, though. The bar wasn't that big, but the bartenders were a bit slow for my taste. I think it was also because there were so many young people who were complaning about drinks prices to the bartender. This one kid help up entire line because he couldn't understand why cool places have expensive drinks! All drink prices are similar in places like 33, Underbar, and here. If you don't like prices, then go to some cheap sports bar...don't hold up lines. Drinks were strong so I have no complaints. Music was awesome. Over all, go check out the place!

November 10, 2006

gypsy bar is or was a great club. the mgmt is stuffy and just not nice. the music is great and there are great people there.. but it is run horribly and these college drop outs are running the place and they do not even know about the concept of customer service.. they are mean at the door and make fun of peoples clothes.. not a place for fun.

Pros: music

Cons: attitude

October 30, 2006

Great atmosphere and pretty nice bartenders. The music is good for a girls night out - all those songs you have memories about with the current favs. Line does get long, but if you get there ealry - before 10, there is no cover and usually not a long line.

August 21, 2006

Gypsy bar is awesome! The mgmt is not. Eric told me to leave for no reason. Todd from the previous club.. pravda was awesome.. Bring Todd Back!

Pros: music

Cons: mgmt

June 16, 2006

I was at Gypsy Bar last week and the manager was very inappropriate toward me. When my boyfriend said something to him about this, he threw him out of the bar! How rude, just because you're a manager of a bar doesn't give you the right to harass the customers. I will never go back to Gypsy Bar ever again.

June 05, 2006

Saturday a bunch of the girls get together and decide to go to the Gypsy bar for the first time. Not one of us has been there, but a friend recommend it. We try it out. Well let me tell you, the staff is so rude, its take forever to get it. They have a little tarp to try and keep you dry but it leaks so if it is raining you get soaked! Once you finally get in its takes forever to get a drink and they are expensive. They pack you in like sardines. Don't get me wrong the place is huge and very nice but why would you make people wait in a line when you know it is big enough to hold on those people. I will never go back and I do not recommend it at all. Unless you like people that are RUDE!

Pros: Clean, Warmy, great music

Cons: Crowded, Rude Staff, Expensive

May 11, 2006

I don't mind paying a cover, but I do mind spending my time all night waiting in line at the bar. At Gypsy Bar, the bartenders were beyond slow. It took a half hour to even get a drink every time, and then another 10 minutes climbing through the crowd to get back to my friends. This place has a line almost every weekend night, but I still cannot figure out why anyone would want to go there.

Pros: Popular

Cons: Crowded, Obnoxious bartenders, Loud

February 01, 2006

People just don't get it, there isn't a place like Gypsy Bar anywhere in Boston. I think the drinks are fairly priced for what you get, especially in Boston. I personally would rather be in an amazing atmosphere, with beautiful people and a good drink that cost a little more, be in than in some local dive bar paying $3 a beer. Gypsy Bar is truly the sexiest spot in town. I mean have you seen the people that go there, never mind the hot manager everyone talks about with the big blue eyes always in a sexy suit.

Pros: People, Atmosphere

Cons: Parking

January 08, 2006

I definitely do NOT recommend this place, and it isn't because I don't like trendy bars. The staff were rude on numerous occasions upon entering the bar and when asked for service. They barked at us several times to move this way or that as if we were cattle. Who needs that? It wasn't fun, the air was pretentious, and the rude staff really ruined our evening. The cover and drinks are overpriced - it was so lousy we were glad to leave and had a much better time elsewhere.

Cons: expensive, rude staff, boring

December 30, 2005

Okay - so we went out with our girlfriends two weeks ago - and where else did we want to be seen and dance the night away? you guessed it. the music was amazing - the crowd beautiful as usual (and the manager with the spiky hair - delicious :)) i'd reccomend this place to any female that wants to dance the night away and who knows, maybe even find the next up-and-coming powerful young professional (i did :) )

Pros: dancing, location , door staff

December 30, 2005

i work for a very exclusive management consulting firm in boston and travel the world frequently. one thing that boston is missing is a bar / nightclub where you feel totally enchanted by the nightlife. i feel that every club in boston is all about "smoke and mirrors" and that there are no clubs that truly exemplify nightlife - well - until i walked into Gypsy Bar. the decor is definitely top notch, and the upkeep is tremendous. the staff is extremely good looking - but more importanly - they are all uniformed. the prices are actually cheaper than most clubs here in boston, which is very suprising. i have to rate this as a top 5 club in the world in my opinion. great job and keep up the good work - i'll be coming every weekend i am in town!

Pros: everything!

Cons: nothing!

December 30, 2005

The crowd and music in this place was def top notch. I was happily suprised at the service level of the place, it seemed as though i was being treated with as much class as a high end restaurant. The music was great, nothing ground breaking, but the dj's had a good vibe going in both rooms. The front seemed to be more chill, relaxing from the higher energy dance floor. I would definitely reccomend this to my friends, and when i do reccomend, i'll let them know to come early because the lines are down the street!

Pros: great attitude, best club in boston, very reasonable price

Cons: HUGE LINE, DID I MENTION THE LIN

December 30, 2005

Finally their is a place in Boston where you feel hot and sexy. Its tough to meet the dress code criteria-but everything is done for a reason...from the minute I walked in to Gypsy Bar I felt this great atmosphere of people who work hard all week and are ready to get dressed up enjoy some cocktails and have a good time on the weekend! Beligerancies aside (unless you truly need to) so you can enjoy the views of Hot guys and Sexy girls. The music is phenomenal- you can "strut your stuff" in the front bar or party it up in the nightclub. The NightClub's VIP Suites are awesome! I'll be sure to reserve one for my Birthday Bash as I can have a semi private setting while still enjoying the high energy party environment! Great Venue-Great Bartenders arrive early -lines are long but well worth the wait!

August 11, 2005

I still love this spot just because they always have the freshest music, and the best dressed!

July 31, 2005

I was entertaining for the weekend and took a few friends to Gypsy Bar on a Friday night. The night had a rough start when the cocktail server, waiting on the tables along the dance floor, was extremely rude toward one of my friends; she had such an appalling behavior. This was brought to the manager's attention, and he dealt with it in a profession manner. Because of the manager, we decided to stay. The drinks, served by the bartenders, were appealing; the music was danceable, and the atmosphere was a meritage of the chic and the "trying to hard".

Pros: pleasant manager , attentive bartenders, space

Cons: a rude cocktailserver, hot backroom

July 03, 2005

This is Boston NOT NYC! Calm down, it's not that serious. The crowd is a bunch of young kids who spend their whole paycheck on an outfit for the evening to stand around and pretend like they are off the runways on the tvs at Gypsy. It was ridiculously "poser" for a weeknight in Boston - and a cover, for what!?! The music was way too loud for the number of people there. The dj also had no idea how to mix music - you don't go from Jay-Z "99 Problems" to merengue. It just doesn't flow and neither does anything at Gypsy. Go if you want to pretend that you actually know people like Paris Hilton because that's what the crowd is like.

Cons: Cover on a weeknight!, Weak drinks, Too hot in the front

This place is definitely funky inside, a little NYC flavor. The jellyfish tank was cool. There is tons of space to mingle or duck off into a private corner. Wednesday nights are actually good, not too packed. There is some attitude there but, if you are prepared for that, its a great place. The bartenders were very friendly. The ladies are top shelf. The drinks are good if a little pricey. Go to see and be seen.....

Pros: Talent, Atmosphere, Scene

Cons: , Attitude

I'm not crazy about this place. I find it pretentious and packed with people filled with self importance. Drinks are way over priced and the music needs to be updated. Techno is dead. The actual space is desirable but the snotty attitude and lack of respect from the other patrons, security and management is not enough to bring me back. Plus parking is a major issue.

Pros: decor

Cons: , drink prices, parking
