Ratings_icons Very Unhappy

Anon S.

I went in the salon in April 2009 to purchase a gift card for a friend (I have been a customer since I moved here in 2001). While I was there, I told them I had old Ludwigs gift cards totalling $125 and asked how long they would be honored for. I was told to use them before Jan 1, 2010. I called to make an appointment on 9/3/09 and was told they would not be honored. I was told that they stopped honoring the old gift cards in August. I requested the owner Teresa to call me, which she did. She told me it was "not her problem" and the cards were now void. I told her how I was told I had until January to use them and she said too bad and that she did not know what I was told. She was not willing to work with me. I asked her why she didn't pull a report and call or email or mail people to notify them of the gift card end date. She said that would mean people would get to enjoy themselves on her dime, since she did not get the money value of the cards. She said they had it posted on their website of the new end date of gift cards. Since I thought I had until January to use the gift cards, I admit, I did not check the website. I will NOT be back and would not recommend them to others!

Ratings_icons Destination Salon and Spa, Inc. a class act

Visited the salon yesterday and was quite pleased with my haircut. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I have gift certificates from the old management and they are so kind to honor them. I will definitely recommend this salon to my friends and look forward to my next visit. Wishing you all much success. Debbie M.

My daughter treated me to a great day at the spa for Mothers Day. The staff was so great, we loved everything about our day. We will be back to this spa!

Ratings_icons Under new ownership

Linda S.

I have been going to this Salon & Spa (formerly Ludwig's Village) for about 5 years now. It is now under new management - the previous owner who seemed more focused on buying & selling gift items sold it to the manager of the hairdressers. She has actually lowered some of the prices a bit and is making great strides in moving the environment from Victorian girlie-girl to a more modern beachy feel. The new mural in the pedicure area is AWESOME!There's also a 15% off coupon on their website to help you cope with the economic downturn.

Ratings_icons A little expensive

Anonymous R.

I think they would make out a lot better if they reduced their "spa treatment" prices especially massage. Can you please run a special for us locals that enjoy a regular massage.

Ratings_icons too pricy for nails!

Anonymous

Decided to "treat myself" to a manicure and pedicure. When I made the appt. I was told that nails were 22.00. So I figured that a standard pedicure would be around the same price...not the case! When I walked up to pay the woman goes, That will be 70.00! Are you kidding me! 70.00 + tip, you feel obligated at that point to tip. The girl did a nice job, but hey, she painted my nails and the owner collected 70.00 for what 2.00 worth of polish! Come on, what a joke.
I will seek nail care elsewhere, I felt robbed. It was one of those times that you walk away and go..."I just got punked!"

Ratings_icons Not at all friendly

JoAnne S.

The salon in general is quite lovely. The stylists are also friendly and good at what they do. BUT, the front desk staff and salon management are both extremely rude. I went to Ludwig's Salon & Spa for 4 months (haircuts and nail services) before finally deciding that I don't want to go somewhere where the receptionists consider me a bother. After a pedicure, I needed to see the manager, who made it plain that I was bothering her conversation with the receptionist. They refused to give me change for a tip for the pedicurist because they were "counting the money for the bank deposit" - why they couldn't break my twenty for 2 tens is beyond me. I miss my styist, Joan, but don't miss anything else about the place.

Ratings_icons Nice decor, bit above average service

Cathy M. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,001

The decor here is a good attempt at being a bit more upscale. The services here are the typical salon services though they do a pretty good job at separating the salon and spa parts of the location unlike some other places that claim to be a spa. The services are a bit above average and the technicians are experienced. They generally seem to run on time. The prices are higher than surrounding salon and spas; you pay more for decor and experience.
