My wife and I chose the BVI to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed. This was our first stay at the Inn and our first time in the dining room. We received a complimentary upgrade and were quite impressed. The mean was very good as was dessert.
This is the second year we had come here in our anniversary and it was memorable. We will be back again the next year. In our experience the food was great and we really enjoyed the BUI Churdanay a truly great wine! Also several staff members asked how was their service and if they could help us in something! The whole staff was pretty pleasant to be around also very helpful! Thank you and see you next year!
Employees had keys to our room and the rings were gone when we got back from the wedding. The wedding party had rented out the whole hotel and we had a sense of security that our belongings were safe. We later found out the woman who did turn-down service had a criminal record for credit card theft. The owners are unwilling to take responsibility and have had 6 months to do so. Do not stay here.
I stayed here 1 night for a romantic evening. It was perfect. The room was very cozy and the service was outstanding. I love how the Inn is really a small village in itself's. It is set back from the main road with a wonderful gormet restarant and a little gift shop as well. I wish it was cheaper because i would love to go back.
PROS: relaxing
CONS: pricey
Since I moved here 2 years ago I have been looking for a restaurant that compares to the ones that I am used to in Bost on. I am more than happy that my husband found the "BVI". The quail was the best I had ever had and even the house wine was of great quality.
Our waitress was new but we wouldnt have known that if we didnt engage her in conversation. She was professional, precise and attentive.
The wine selection was the best I have seen yet in NH with a perfect compliments of great vine years and regions.
The price might deterr some people but this a restaurant that you get what you pay for. The BVI is a first rate choice for any special occasion.
PROS: food quality, service, wine selection
CONS: cost, some rooms are tiny and can feel claustrophobic
"BVI" presented a very high class summer wedding for our 125 guests. They have a small outdoor garden for spring/summer weddings and can re-arrange the reception hall for indoor ceremonies during cooler months and rainy days. The garden flowers were beautiful! The entire day was fabulously orchestrated by a banquet manager who paid attention to every detail. After months of planning, we did not have to think about a thing throughout the entire day. The banquet manager ensured that everything happened on time and to our specifications. After a fantastic ceremony, the reception was high class. The food was prompt and delicious! We even had a waitress dedicated to us (the bride and groom). A year later, our guests still comment on how wonderful the event was. Our only complaints were in the planning stages, Michelle Bernier was very difficult throughout the entire planning process. Thankfully the day of the wedding went off without a hitch. Friday or Saturday weddings require that you fill every room at the Inn. Because the rooms are filled with guests, brides for Saturday or Sunday afternoon weddings cannot checkin early enough to get ready. The Inn will provide their conference room for dressing, although it's not as convenient. Overall, I would definitely chose the location again!
PROS: Classy, beautiful setting, attentive staff, great attention to detail
CONS: Expensive for NH, head banquet manager is difficult to work with
We have visted the main restaurant at the BVI on six or seven occassions. Most of the time service has been adequate. The last two occassions service was terrible. There was a long wait for food. Server made excuses saying "we're short a chef today".
On our last visit after waiting for a lengthy period we finally opened our own champagne.
Drinks took forever to arrive.
A server, obvioulsy not well trained, sent a pile of plates crashing to the floor during our romantic Christmas dinner.
Waiter knew nothing about the wine list. The only thing that arrived quickly was the bill!
For a bill of $300, Hardly what one would expect.
Pros: ambience
Cons: service
My Husband and I dined here last night and all I can say is WOW! What a gem! the grounds are absolutely breathtaking. Coming from Boston like us it was well worth the trip. The food was amazing the service was great. Again all I can say is wow! we will be back soon!

Pros: Food, Romantic Atmosphere
This is a restaurant to go to when you want gourmet food and luxurious atmosphere and service! We are never rushed and our tastebuds are always rewarded. Their clam chowder is better than anyone elses! My husband and I have gone to several special dinners/events here and always have a great time. BVI is luxurious but not stuffy -- the waitstaff is very friendly and accommodating.
Pros: Luxurious, Makes you feel pampered
Cons: Not good for young children
My fiance and I went into the tavern and felt completely at home. The atmosphere, service and food exceed our expectations.
I recently took a date to this restaurant. We initially went to dine in thier Tavern after hearing about it from a friend. The Tavern was really busy so we gave our name to the host and decided to view the rest of the building. As we came around the corner and into the main dining room we were greeted by another host who very graciously gave us a tour of their many dining rooms. I believe there are eight total, not exactly sure. Each one was decorated differently with a style all their own. We found a nice cozy candlelit table in a small room and asked to be cancelled from the waitlist. The dinner was one of the most romantic I have had. The wine list is extraordinary and the food looks like art on a plate. We chose to dine off thier special tasting menu. Wine is paired with it and each course is a surprise. You have a list of possible options that may be served but I guess they change daily. We chose the six course option but you can have as many as ten! All in all it was a great experience. The service was very personable too.
Pros: Ambience, menu creativity, wine list
