I was not a student here but many friends and family attended here, I agree with most here but those who may have found it difficult at times. I wonder if they were aware that not only is this a spiritual school but the surrounding area is well known to be a very spiritual place for the previous inhabitants the local Native Americans. There are lots of great trails to hike and explore to see this amazing area. Plus this area is close to all the great ocean beaches and parks as well.

My sisters who are seven and nine years my senior both attended Gordon College. I would visit them fairly often and I grew to love the college. It's the atmosphere. First the overall look and landscape are very inviting and comfortable and simply beautiful all across the campus. But what really makes the atmosphere is the people. From the faculty and staff to the students. When I was only 8 years old and would visit, I was treated with respect, I was encouraged, and I always had a blast. Nine years later it was my turn to begin looking at colleges. I visited one other college just to see, but it didn't even come close. I didn't even apply anywhere else, for me it was Gordon or bust. I am now going in to my senior year, and I know I made the right decision.

The faculty and staff all share a similar vision to encourage and provide every opportunity for each student to grow in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The student body is big enough that you will find your crowd, yet small enough that at any time you will walk across campus and see a friendly face.

Pros: Safe, beautiful, encouraging, faith building, near the ocean
Cons: fairly expensive, but not unreasonable for a private college

Lisa P. gave an amazing and accurate review of Gordon College.

If you're looking for a top-notch, rigorous academic program, then you've found it at Gordon. It continually ranks amongst the nation's greatest schools for academics and social responsibility. Students are engaged in lots of extracurricular activities.

However, socially and theologically Gordon has a long way to go. Conversations border progressive, but there is a tight lid on what can be intelligently discussed. There isn't really a free exchange of ideas as much as a free exchange of certain, approved ideas.

It's the kind of place that you need to know what you're getting into before you commit yourself for sure, but can be rewarding and beneficial for the right person.

Every college experience is different. It is really what each individual makes of it. I entered Gordon as a searching Christian. I had always been very active in extracurriculars. Gordon takes advantage of this characteristic and develops it to make it more than imagined.

Engaging in all, some, or little to none of the many opportunities Gordon offers can challenge your walk with God. It has mine. It made me search for myself, while at the same time teaching me to balance life and academics. This alone has prepared me for an exciting future.

The students at Gordon have been more than welcoming. I went to a public high school, and comparing the outlook of each student, has helped shaped my own outlook on life. You are who you surround yourself with. I have found great friends, and in that, even my fiance, who treats me life a princess.

Gordon College develops the potential each student has in entering and turns their good qualities into even greater characteristics. I have had a great experience with it, and can confidently say its changed my life for the better.

Kristin S mentions, "needing to know what you are getting yourself into," I would have to disagree. I came to Gordon having no expectations towards conversations regarding God. I had no idea what to expect. The talks I did engage myself into were really beneficial. I've found my faith and can express it freely at Gordon.

I have heard many people make similar statements as Kristin, but for me, I've been so blessed by the works of His hands on this campus. I do agree though, that Gordon has much growing to do, and that it certainly is on its way!

Gordon College is a four year college. I attended Gordon for two years, and then I left. I really enjoyed the academic aspect of the school. As far as that goes, I have not find any academic environment yet that has been able to match it. I really enjoyed studying under professors that were at the top of their respective fields. Personally, I could not, however, handle the stifling environment. First of all, it was in the middle of the woods, so there was no real way to get away when you felt a lot of pressure... and there was a lot of pressure... to figure out your relationship with God and your life goals, all at the same time. It really started to make me feel cynical after a while, which is why I left. I have always been a very spiritual person and didn't want that to stop.

Some people could handle this school (obviously - and many do), but it takes a special kind of person, as the environment tests you, as a person, extremely hard.
