I have known Ralph for over TWENTY years...I feel like he is a member of my family. My children love him more than anyone else in the world. His bedside manner with the kids...Perfection...even down to his little fishie flashlight for their mouth. He speaks to the child age appropriately...treats all with dignity..he is the ONE Dr. in Las Vegas that I would trust with my entire family's life. He has successfully treated my now 19 year old for the most severe case of excema he has ever seen in his career....she is gorgeous now...with one on the way..and HE WILL MOST DEFINATELY BE HER PEDIATRICIAN WITHOUT QUESTION...SHE WOULDNT HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY. My Son will not see anyone but Ralph..My daughter Leah passed away in 2006, I belive that if St. Rose allowed her OWN pediatrician (RALPH) to treat her, and consult rather than their new required own dr's, she would be alive today...they wouldnt allow her own family dr to take care of her to my dismay...at least I would have been told the truth about her condition..and had his truthful opinon..which i never got from these strangers. ANYONE out there thinking that he is of any form of questionable character....I can attest..he cares deeply for each and ever one of his patients. Before he had his own kids..my daughter Leah fell..hit her head..and had to be rushed to Sunrise hospital...she had coded, and had to recieve cpr...he personally told the er dr to treat her as if she was his child..my litttle girl had the er dr sitting with her at her bedside between patients. Ralph will alwas be A+ in our books. Anyone slamming him about money...when i was having a tough time, year ago..and lost my insurance..HE told me, dont worry..i would see your kids for free..im not going to stop seeing them because of this. He is a fair honest and caring man...and we truly love him and wish him and his family the best...and for the haters.....you must have picked a bad day...everyone has one.

HORRIBLE practice. BAD doctor.Even worse attitude towards patients. What can I say? My son was misdiagnosed with asthma related upper respiratory illness by Dr Conti's 'associate' Dr STEPPA when in fact he was suffering from the stomach flu. After the doctors visit on Friday night (8pm) we ended up rushing to the ER on sunday morning as my son continued to throw up and vomit all through saturday. The ER bill ended up over $1000 and when the bill for the office office visit came from Foothill pediatrics I refused to pay it and personally came there to write a complaint. Nobody even tried to investigate or get in touch with me for over 3 (THREE) months until I started getting last notices from the office that if its not paid it will go to collections. I have called the office over 5 times to try to get in touch with th right person. After weeks of back and worth, she managed to talk to Dr Conti and he said my complaint had no grounds as my son probably caught the stomach flu AFTER the visit (in between friday night and sunday morning) and that Dr Steppa was right in her assessment. How low and how cheap! I am reporting him to the board. Absolutely unacceptable. And now I read about this court case - what a disgrace.

Dr. Ralph Conti is a wonderful pediatrician. He is the pediatrician I chose to care for my precious little girl, and I love how he is with her. He talks to her and knows how to keep her calm during exams. He seems to truly care about her well being. Enough so, that he even made a house call to check on her well being after a vaccine appointment left her with odd symptoms. He is great and I highly recommend him.

Dr Conti is an amazing pediatrician. He makes the little ones feel very comfortable. He has never done anyything to hurt a child & he has always done right by my family. I have & will continue to refer patients to him, he is probably one of the most compassionate physicians I have ever seen. Some of you people are out there judging him without giving him a chance to defend himself, what ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? As far as we are concerned, he is still the #1 pediatrician in NV.

Dr. Conti has been pediatrician to my 3 children for 8yrs now. He is an amazing doctor with a bed side manner that you rarely ever find in the medical field anymore. We first met during the emergency c-section of my 2nd child. We had gone through 3 awful pediatricians with our 1st daughter when my OB recommended we have Dr. Conti attend our birth. I reluctantly agreed having lost my faith that good Pediatricians existed but my baby was coming early and I needed too have someone there. While I laid on the surgical table sobbing and worried about my tiny little girl who was being born a month and a half early, a warm face came into my eye view and reassured me that my baby was beautiful and going to be just fine. I knew that we had finally found our Dr. Our 1st office visit he saw both daughters and after just a glance diagnosed my 1st born with allergies after 2 yrs of being told buy previous Peds. that her constant runny nose was viral infections. when our 1st born was 4 when she got hit hard with Ecoli and was in the hospital...Dr. Conti came to see her everyday and even called us personally to check on her once we were home. I could write a novel about all the reasons I have and will continue to recommend him to anyone searching for a good pediatrician. Dr. Conti is a very kind and loving man who is genuinely invested in his patients. My kids have a bit of anxiety around people but they have ALWAYS been at ease with Dr. Conti. He makes them completely comfortable and that can be difficult with children who have anxiety. It saddens me to read people bash a man and say he doesn't care for his patients when anyone who knows him can tell you that's not true. Even if he was battling his own health and personal issues you would never know it because he walks in the room with a bright smile and the only thing he's concerned with is you and your child. If you need him at 2 am he's there for you. He even asks me how I'm doing and has given me advise on my own health problems and helps me as much as he can with costs. As for the wait...I've been on enough Dr. visits in this city to say it's a pretty common thing to wait hrs for an appointment with a decent doctor and Dr. Conti is WELL worth the wait. Its a fact that Dr. Conti is one of the best doctors in vegas...and these negative comments come from negative people who are probably like that with everything in there life.

http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/nevada-doctor-indicted-alleged-stem-cell-scam-14731751#.Tpij-t8PVUg.facebook

A Nevada pediatrician has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges that he and a man falsely identifying himself as a doctor conspired to implant chronically ill patients with stem cells harvested from human placentas obtained after women gave birth.

Dr. Ralph Conti, 50, of Henderson, was due to appear Thursday before a federal magistrate judge in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas on a 34-count indictment accusing him and Alfred Sapse of Las Vegas of mail and wire fraud and conspiracy.

A message left Thursday for Conti at his practice, Foothills Pediatrics, was not immediately returned.

Sapse, 85, of Las Vegas, was already due to stand trial March 12 on 20 mail and wire fraud charges. He was indicted in July 2010 on charges revolving around a Las Vegas company he created in May 2005 called StemCell Pharma Inc. Prosecutors alleged at the time that he had unidentified doctors in Las Vegas and Mexico perform experimental surgical implants of placential tissue on about 134 patients.

Sapse's public defender, Richard Boulware, didn't immediately respond Thursday to requests for comment.

The indictment handed up Wednesday replaces the previous one against Sapse. He is accused of convincing patients in Las Vegas and Mexico to undergo abdominal implants of placental tissue for treatment of incurable diseases such as multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy and the degenerative eye disease retinitis pigmentosa.

"By misrepresenting his credentials, the nature of his treatment, the source of his 'stem cells,' and the adverse effects suffered by previous patients, defendant Sapse convinced chronically ill patients to undergo experimental implant procedures, many of which were performed by Conti," the indictment said.

The document chronicles payments of $2,500 for implants, and says the scheme reaped more than $1 million. Prosecutors allege that Sapse spent about $700,000 of the money on himself, including gambling sprees at Las Vegas casinos.

Prosecutors say Sapse had no medical license in Nevada or any other state, but claimed to be a retired physician who studied at the Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy in Odessa, Ukraine.

The indictment alleges he hired Conti, who had no stem cell training, to perform placenta tissue implants on about 34 patients in Las Vegas from February to November 2006.

Prosecutors allege that several patients contracted infections, leading the federal Food and Drug Administration to issue a warning letter in November 2006. It said Sapse failed to properly obtain, store, test and process the placentas, or screen donors and patients.

A spokeswoman for U.S. Attorney Daniel Bogden declined Thursday to provide details about the infections, pending trial.

Three months after the FDA letter, Sapse moved his operation to Mexico and enlisted an unnamed physician in Nuevo Progresso, Mexico, according to the indictment. Prosecutors allege that doctor performed about 100 implant procedures from February 2007 to May 2010.

Sapse and Conti face decades in federal prison and millions of dollars in fines if convicted. The government also seeks the forfeiture of almost $914,000 it alleges is tied to the scheme.

Conti not only refuses to hire sign language interpreters if you are hearing impaired (this is required by the law, and his practice isn't exactly small enough to justify not being able to afford the extra expense, which is tax deductible anyway), he will NOT write down the information for you, no matter how important it might be to the health of your child, and will instead "fire" you as a patient. Not only that, he will overcharge you for procedures never done in office due to being "fired" and not send you a bill but forward it straight to collections. A complaint with the state was filed against him, and I just read in the paper he has been charged with fraud.

I love Dr. Conti! he is amazing! He talks pretty fast but i dont mind. My son loves him! I love that he gave us his number directly to contact him day or night so i dont have to call the nurse line...i hate that! We had a billing issue with my sons insurance and the office staff tried to not let my son be seen when he had a high fever! and Dr. Conti let us know if we had an issue he would fix it and my son was seen that day. I will use him for all my children! he is just great!

There are not enough words to express what an absolute amazing physician Dr. Ralph Conti is. My family first had the pleasure of knowing him 19 years ago when my younger sister (then 3) was at the hospital with breathing difficulties. No one at the hospital could figure out what was wrong with her. Dr. Conti came in and within minutes diagnosed her condition and she improved that day and was home within that week. I honestly would hate to think of what may have happened if he was not there!
Now, as a parent myself, my children have all been with Dr. Conti since day 1. I can honestly say that he is the best pediatrician in the state. Without a doubt. I refer him to all my friends and anyone new in town. His bedside manner is second to none and he is compassionate and amazing in a crisis situation. He is knowledgeable on every issue you may bring up. I even passed up the chance to move out of state for fear that I would not find a pediatrician half as good. We adore him!

Dr. Conti was there when both my kids were born, they are now 12 and 14. He has never misdiagnosed my children. My daughter was born with adnoids and asmtha. When she was 2 yrs. old a ENT specialist wanted to perform surgery on her adnoids, Dr. Conti asked me to wait 6 months to see if they improved since surgery is risky. She outgrew the adnoids. He has even come to my house when I have called him in a panic. He's the best.

My 11-year-old daughter started having seizures out of the blue in 2/10 in CA. She was in the hospital for 4 days. The doctors were no help as to the cause and ignored everything we said. We took her to her ped MD here in Henderson. That doc had no experience with non-epileptic seizures. We took her to a ped neurologist in Henderson who would not listen to us or to any of the things we thought or observed, especially little symptoms that we noted. If he didn't think the symptom fit what he thought it was, he disregarded the symptom. Finally, we got her in to Dr. Conti, who not only had experience with non-epileptic seizures, but listened to everything we said and was able to explain many of the symptoms we saw her experience. He respected our thoughts, theories and observations. We left his office with hope for the first time in 2 months that we would get answers as to the cause of the seizures. Dr. Conti was so full of information. He is one of those doctors that just knows things.

And best of all, my daughter really liked him. He has a boisterous sense of humor and alot of energy.

Highly recommended.

I'm pleased to recommend Dr. Conti for all pediatric needs in the Las Vegas area. His practice provides the entire array of patient needs including well/sick patient services, night nurse call-number for emergencies (we were routed to a Dr. promptly the one time we called), weekend hours for Dr. visits, lactation consulting, etc. Dr. Conti was extremely helpful in the birth of our son, who had a medical emergency that landed him in the neo-natal ICU for 36 hours. Dr. Conti was personally engaged the entire time, available by phone, and a general lifesaver.

I LOVE Dr. Conti! My daughter was born 7 weeks premature but did not have any issues and was able to go home after just a few days in ICU or NICU what ever you call it! I had seen several other pediatricians and then heard about Dr. Conti. He is AMAZING and was so fabulous with my daughter. He even pierced her ears and he did it perfectly. Yes, he is sometimes in a hurry as I'm sure you can imagine if you've ever been in his waiting room. It's about a 3 hour wait but it is always, always worth the wait! Every doctors office in Vegas is a ridiculous wait! I moved to northern Utah when my daughter turned one and I have always made the 8 hour drive to Dr. Conti's office for her vaccinations and so forth! Of course if she needs medical attention she can go to a quick care here in Utah! That's how much I love him I can't bare the thought of getting her a new pediatrician! Doctor's are not Gods! Some of the reviews here disturb me! I'm sure he gives it his all and in my opinion he's the best!! My daughter is now 4 and she loves him too!

Logan,UT Mom!

Hello, I met Dr. Conti the first time my daughter brought my grandson in for his first visit after his birth and was quite happy with what I saw. I am a ret. Pediatric/Neonatal critical care Paramedic, I worked for The New York Hospital in New York City
for 22yrs. so I have some insight in to treating children. I know that every parent that brings their child to see their Pediatrician the problem their child
has is of the utmost concern. But what most people don't realise just because someone looks too busy does not mean he is doing his job. Like most of us after we have been at our job for a while we can do what ever it is fast and do it correctly. One thing I did learn from my work is that sometime parents don't like what is said, when they talk to everyone else they sometime get the wrong information.
Dr. Conti is a good Doctor.

We love Dr. Conti. On our last visit, I was getting upset about how long we were waiting in the exam room, but then he finally came whistling in and reminded me why he is worth the wait! He has such a great way with the kids. He is fast, but I've never had a problem slowing him down if I had a concern.

I do have to agree that some of the staff can be rude. And I'm not sure if the issue is on their end or my insurance company, but almost every single time we are there, insurance denies one of our claims as a duplicate. It's not a duplicate- they are twins! :)

Every family I've ever nannied for has used Dr Conti. At the daycare I worked at, Dr Conti was the most popular choice also. When my twins were born, there was no doubt in my mind who I wanted to be their pediatrician.

OK..first of all the office is way to busy, Dr. conti doesn't give a crap, and the staff is rude as can be! second is that my niece was seen by Dr. conti and he diagnosed her with asthma, after 1 month of my brother taking her back time after time to see Dr. conti telling him that she isn't the same baby, my sister in law couldn't take it and finally took her to the hospital! Guess what was wrong... My niece had swallowed a round battery and it was lodged in her esophagus!! wow... asthma is now a battery! My niece was almost dead and had to have a chest tube and be in ICU for almost 2 weeks. we didn't know if she would make it! why the hell would you diagnose a child without doing the proper testing!! And on top of that, i have had a sick Lil girl since birth and Dr. conti almost over dosed her! thank god i work in a pharmacy! I think he needs to slow down and not see as many patients as he does because he is losing his intelligence!! I will never see him again!! And i tell all my patients that he is not a good doctor!

Response from this business:

Thank you Insider Pages for this opportunity to respond. No, Chelsey, asthma is not a battery, but it can look like one. Your niece came to my office with wheezing and cough and was properly tested for RSV, which looks like and causes asthma, and tested positve twice! When she did not respond to appropriate therapy she was brought to the ER where chest Xray (now indicated) revealed what turned out to be a camera battery in her esophagus. She made a complete recovery without a chest tube and is doing well, I am still her pediatrician. Your Lil girl has urine that backs up to her kidney and brain damage that have been present since before she was born but maifested as urinary tract infection and seizures after birth. I put her on a higher dose of Cefdinir for her second UTI since the standard dose did not work for the first UTI. Chelsey, you are a pharmacy tech and so you do not have the responsibility of managing "patients". Feel free to tell customers who are in the pharmacy where you work whatever you choose. I cannot begin to imagine the fear you experience as the mother of a child with chronic and serious medical conditions, But to say I shouldn"t be a doctor is as hurtful as if I said you shouldn't be a mother.

I am going to have to agree with the posters that state that these days Dr. Conti is way too rushed to give proper care.I have lived in Vegas for about 17 years and I have a two-year old son. Foothills Pediatrics has been our pediatrician since my son was born. Two years ago I asked everyone I knew that had small children who the best doctor in town was and four out of five responses were, "Dr. Conti!"In two years I have seen the man once. I scheduled the hospital checkout visit way in advance, but when the time came, he sent a replacement. Every time we needed to come in for a well check, Dr. Conti was a two to three hour wait, or I could see a replacement. Seriously? Sit in a doctor's lobby with an infant for three hours? Are you high? It is so disrespectful to assume that your patients' time is so less valuable than your own.The one time I did actually see the famed Dr. Conti in person, it was the most asinine production I had ever been a party to. He waltzed in with a flourish, didn't stop to introduce himself or ask any questions about the purpose of our visit, and began a rehearsed speech at mach 5. He spoke so fast that there was no way to process half of what he was saying. I'm a new mom, but I'm not that bad. This was bad. It was clear that he did not have the time nor the interest to get to know us on a personal level. Personally, I'd never see him again. The replacements have been fine. If we need a check up, we use the new location in the southwest. It is a lot less crowded. The doctor there is slightly condescending, but no worse than Conti. I'm looking into switching this year.

I have taken all my children to Dr. Conti, still do until this day. My son is 18, daughters are 16 and I have another set of twins on the way. He is not perfect, no one is. But I will say he is caring and takes time to do his job. He cares about his patients. He helped save my twins when they were born with complications and still looks after them today. He is a good person and a good doctor.

Dr. Conti is absolutely fantastic. He was actually my Dr when I was a teen. Now he has been my own kids Dr. since our first was born 5 1/2 years ago. HE is the only one in the practice that I will ever see. Yes he is busy! that is because everyone loves him. YES he does have a script he repeats but that is because there are so many dumb parents out there that don't know or do those simple things. He understands how to make a child feel comfortable. Most of the time they don't even know they are being examined. He answers all of my questions.

The only thing bad I can say is that his staff is terrible. The insurance billing department is just plain dumb. I can't tell you how many times I've had to handle the claims because they have billed them with the wrong code.

I have heard the most wonderful things about this Doctor so I decided to take my 9 year old in for a well check. I was really just going in to see if he could help me with issues I had been facing with my son.

He didn't care about what I asked or my concerns I had. Dr. Conti was more concerned with not interupting his very scripted exam. I thought he was bubbly and fun for the kids but to actually hear you and help you NO WAY!! I asked about the medication my son was taking and he said that he thought everyone needs meds dont they. He just assumed to know the struggles I have had with my son and dismissed them with a joke.

When I was asking about mental issues he told me that I needed to see another doctor in his practice for that who was better at that then him. I had wasted my time with him. I expect more from my pediatrician.

To top it off my statement from my insurance came in and they charged me for this hearing exam that wasn't covered. We were in the room the whole time so Im not really sure when this $150 hearing exam happened.

BEWARE this dude may have been good in the past but he isn't any longer.

Response from this business:

Thank you Sarah and thanks to Insider Pages for allowing me to respond. Sarah, I was meeting your son for the first time. I was to do a "well check" on your son when truely you wanted to discuss his "mental issues. My "scripted exam" is an attempt to glean as comprehensive history and physical of your son as possible, in part to ensure that his mental issues are not caused by systemic disease such as lupus, allergy, or environmental toxins. But more importantly it is an attempt to make some connection with your child so I can get to know him as best as I can with our limited time. My bias is that psychoactive medications are used with too much ease and not enough discretion on our children. I apologize that my attept to communicate this bias with a humorous comment was perceived as dismissing your struggles. One of my collegues is an expert in the field of childhood mental health and the use of psychoactive medications, and I will often defer to him in order to make sure your child gets the best care possible. Sarah. I apologize for failing to meet your expectations as your son's pediatrician and will try to learn from our interacion to provide better care for the children of our community.

We just switched pediatricians, after 2 1/2 years... We had a very good experience with him. When going to see a doctor, we always go in very well prepared and take our notes and questions to ask.. As a mom of four, I will never leave a Dr office with unknown questions again! No One is pushy unless you let them be!! He was fabulous.... I guess everyone has good and bad experiences... No One is perfect, you just have to hope for the best!! I learned to follow up on visits, and if your unsure, get a second opinion :) It never is a bad thing!! Thanks Dr.Conti!!! We love the little frog trick!! It worked wonders. Vegas Family p.s. waiting for doctors seems like the norm for them all. There's lots of people in this world. Make it a great day!!

Dr. Conte was my son's pediatrician from ages 2-4. My son was showing very clear signs of autism (of course at this time I did not know the signs) and Dr. Conte just told us these symptoms were NORMAL!
He told me it was NORMAL for a child to flap his arms constantly, it's NORMAL that he bites his hand so hard and so much he has a mark. This man took no time or consideration for my child. He did not offer any testing or further help. My child is now 6 years old and has been diagnosed with autism. Our road to recovery is only beginning as he enters the first grade.
I could have begun treatment and therapies much earlier had my child's Dr. gave a damn.

After three children in the Las Vegas area and having dealt with Dr. Tuggle on my last two, who, by the way has the bed manner of a wet fish, Dr. Conti is a God send. He gets down to the child's level, he explains to the parents what is going on. He gives his PROFESSIONAL opinion. Dr. Conti often refers to what he would do if it was his son. His is busy but never makes us feel rushed. We refer him to everyone we can. He is busy. He is busy because he is awesome.

Dr. Conti had been our Dr. for 11+ years. Years ago it was wonderful. He was very attentive and remembered everything about our children. Recently we had another child - nine years after the last one. Even though we have been with him over a decade, Dr. Conti couldn't be bothered to check our new baby out of the hospital, he sent one of the other doctors from his practice. I didn't know this Dr. and have never ever seen anyone else except Dr. Conti. Needless to say I didn't like this Dr. AT ALL, very rude and bossy, and pushy - wanting to preform a procedure on my newborn child that I did not agree with, and that was not necessary. I reminded this Dr. I was the mother. I was informed in no uncertain terms that if I didn't do what I was told then social services would be called on me. I don't believe professionals should resort to such threats, especially during such a happy time as the birth of a child. I promptly fired this Dr., and have since refused to return to Dr. Conti, since he just doesn't seem to have the time to bother anymore.

Dr. Conti is an excellent Pediatrician. He has always been nothing but knowledgeable and helpful. He is very friendly and puts the kids at ease, they don't mind going to see him. When we moved out of the area for awhile, I tried long and hard to find another doctor half as good as him. I eventually found someone we could trust, but it took awhile. We really missed him! Now that we are moving back, he will be our doctor again absolutely! I referred my brother and family to Dr. Conti a couple of years ago after they had some really bad experiences and they just love him too. I would recommend to any new parent that you write down all of your questions and concerns for the doctor before going in because it is easy to forget some of those things while you are at the doctor's office.

I took my 3 y.o. in to see Dr. Conti. He performed a procedure on my child without proper explaining *before* he asked for permission (which, he never did ask for permission to do it) & goes on to explain to me what he "needs to do" to correct the problem, as he's doing it!!! I was SHOCKED! I couldn't believe what was happening & it all happened so quickly....he's a very fast-paced person.

I won't ever go back to this office. Ever. Again.

A dr should NEVER perform any procedure without first obtaining proper consent & informing the parent of what will happen & any & all options.

Oh, & he's really loose with that prescription pad. I came in for one thing & left with a script for something totally unrelated & not even a concern to me.

Dr. Conti is a wonderful Pediatrician! The office is separated with two rooms, healthy and sick, so you can avoid contact with unwanted germs if your child is not sick. The Dr. is very kind and takes his time. The best thing is he never advises for unnessary treatments. He never seems judmental of decision we make as parents. He is very straight forward. He is a pediatrician I would highly recommend.
