.

Malta House and Malta Manor are apartment complexes for the frail and elderly as well as the disabled. They are small apartments with a little kitchen, decent sides living room, small bedroom, and small bathroom. They have two closets and are enough for a senior to live comfortably. They are completely unfurnished.

A senior must apply to get in and his or her rent is based on income.

The apartments are OK. Management, however, is woefully non understanding of an elderly person's needs.

They have a community room where residents can gather yet they do not allow scooters, such as the ones more mobile elderly adults have, inside. What is an elderly person to do?

They have a manager on during the day at both places. June, the manager at the newer Malta Manor, is not well liked nor is she equipped to handle the elderly. She is gruff and treats the residents like prison inmates rather than apartment dwellers. Malta House, the older building, is actually better built and nicer - though the manager there is gruff as well.

Both have a system where you must punch in a number to get in or call an apartment and get buzzed on. That's great of the person you are visiting has no hearing problems. if so, you can't call them to notify them that you are there and you can't get in! If you go during the day and someone is around, they'll open the door, otherwise you are stuck. As we all know elderly people often have hearing loss and can't hear the phone ringing so the system is badly flawed.

Malta House has a nice outside seating area but Malta Manor has nowhere for residents to sit in the summertime and that's a shame.

These are decent apartments that are much better than a nursing home but could use a lot of improvement to make them more than average.
