I moved out of state but flew back to see Dr. Gaunt. She is the best gynecologist I have ever had. She performed an abdominal hysterectomy on me. She clearly exceeded my expectations. I highly recommmend her for a hysterectomy.

Dr. Gaunt answered all of my questions about the surgery even minutes before the surgery. She came to me in the prep room before surgery to answer my questions in person. She worked well with my primary care physician to address my other health needs and assured they were addressed while in the hospital for two nights.

I am post op for six days now. My stitches will be removed. I have had no complications from the surgery so far. I believe I hit the jackpot with Dr. Gaunt. Not only did she hold my hand through this surgery, she is extremely competent in addressing all worst case scenarios and performed the surgery in a way that I am recovering nicely from. She scared me with the possiblity of cancer, and oncologist on stand by to cut me even more if cancer is suspected to test the lymph nodes. Fortunately the fibroids were not cancerous and the surgery cut was at a minimum.

I'm finally having to leave Dr. Gaunt as a patient, because I moved out of state, but for the first three years of my move I flew home to see her. I can't imagine her ever being critical of anyone for being overweight. I have PCOS and she has been one of the few people to help me. Thanks to her treatments, I rarely get monthly migraines. PCOS causes one to be quite overweight, and she has been nothing but supportive in my struggle. She's truly a kind person and a skilled physician. Her nurses show the same compassion ans skill. All of the women in my family go to her.

Over the past 35 years I have moved 12 times so I have had my share of doctors. Dr. Gaunt is the best one that I've ever had. I had to have a hysterectomy a few years back and she was wonderful throughout the whole process. I've recommended her to many of my friends. I read the review where the lady said that Dr. Gaunt wasn't supportive in her weight loss efforts. I just have a hard time believing that we are talking about the same doctor. I am overweight and Dr. Gaunt has never been anything but encouraging and kind in this regard. If you want a kind, caring, supportive, knowledgable, professional doctor, then Dr. Gaunt should be your choice. I am only sorry that we had to move away from the Chicago area and I have yet to find a doctor that even comes close to Dr. Gaunt

I have been a patient of Dr. Gaunts for over 10 years- ( I am 27 years old). She is the first OBGyn I ever saw and hopefully will be my last. She is soft spoken, gentle, loving, experienced and so very approachable. Dr. Gaunt has delivered my two children and rejoiced in so many moments of my life. Dr. Gaunt DOES care about the overall health of her patients. She is the only OBGyn I have ever heard of that does routine finger sticks, just to be sure her patients are in good health, not just OK female wise. Dr. Gaunt saved my mothers life because of those finger sticks. My mother had gone in for a routine visit and Dr. Gaunt requested that she have a finger stick to check for anemia, or any other health concerns. When her panel came back extremely messed up (tons of white blood cells), Dr. Gaunt immediately called my mother and requested she see a hemotologic oncologist immediately. My mother had leukemia, and was on deaths door. She is alive today because of the extra effort Dr. Gaunt puts into treating her patients mind, body, spirit. Yes, she is concerned about the overall health of her patients, but I have NEVER in 10 years seen her be cold, callus or rude. I would recommend her to anybody 1000 times over. If you want a doctor who will be a part of your family Dr. Gaunt is the one!!!!!

I just mailed this letter to Dr. Gaunt. I had been a patient for over 2 years.

Dr. Gaunt,

I wanted to clarify my thoughts from our hallway conversation today. I have been working extremely hard to change my lifestyle. I hired a trainer I work with 2-3 times a week, in addition to going to the gym on my own. We have been making an effort to cook at home more and I even changed my job to one with less stress and a lot less travel. I have done all of this in an effort to live a more healthy lifestyle, and I have been very proud of myself.

Then today I had my appointment with you and I was completely demoralized about all the work I have put in. It was not what you said but the whole way you approached it:

You asked me about exercising; I told you I had a trainer. A few minutes passed and you asked if I had dropped any dress sizes; I said no but detailed what improvement I had been seeing. The examination continues and out of nowhere you said ??Diet?? and I told you I have been working on it, cooking. More time passes and you concluded with ??So next time we??re going to see you down a dress size??

You made it painfully clear that until I was dropping dress sizes any progress I made didn??t mean anything to you. Had you just talked to me about it all at once, up front, perhaps it would have come across differently, but that is not what happened.

On top of that, you expect me to trust you with my health without returning any trust in me to partner with you to get myself healthy. If you had doubts about my ability to do that you should have talked to me about it instead of automatically treating me like a child and forcing me to come in by withholding my full prescription. Had you actually talked to me about it first, you could have done the same thing without a negative effect. There is much to be said for getting buy in when you are doing something that will cause another inconvenience.

I do not need my doctor to be my friend or to coddle me, but I do need to feel they are on my side. I want a doctor who wants to partner with me in improving my health, not stand above me in judgment. You are not that doctor. If I had any doubts about it, you confirmed them when you had your nurse call me less than an hour after I left to tell me you were not writing me any more prescriptions. This, after I just walked out of your office telling you that I would be finding another doctor and would not return to your care. It could not have been more obvious that I would not be seeking another prescription from you after the one you had already given me today. It was extremely childish and unprofessional of you to need to get a last word in.

I began writing this in the hope that you would take it to heart and try to approach these things more openly with another patient. After getting the call from your nurse halfway through I am not overly confident anything will change, but still had to try.

I hope by posting this others will be spared this behavior.

We didn't really get to know Dr. Gaunt until she was delivering our first baby. She wasn't our normal O.B. but the one on call that day. She is awesome! I really liked her style. Some people might not like it but she doesn't tell you stuff that you don't need to know. Like, she doesn't make you unneccesarily nervous. She just does what she has to do and talk to you really calmly the whole time. We would have been freaking out much more if we knew all the details of what was happening when we had our first sone but she kept us so calm. She's great.
