.

WE HAD BOOKED THIS ROOM FOR THE LAST WEEK OF SEPT. 2006. JUST BEFORE WE LEFT I READ A FRIGHTENING REVIEW SO I ASKED MY DAUGHTER TO CHECK OUT A SAMPLE ROOM. THERE WAS PROBLEMS FROM THE START AS THEY SAID I RESERVED A HANDICAPPED ROOM AND IT TOOK MY DAUGHTER AND I 30 MINUTES TO RESOLVE THIS EVEN THOUGH THEY STATED YOU ONLY GET A ROOM ASSIGNMENT WHEN YOU ARRIVE. IT MADE NO SENSE! TEN MINUTES AFTER WE CHECKED IN A STRANGER WALKED INTO OUR ROOM WITH A KEY! THAT WAS SHOCKING FOR HIM AND US THANK G-D WE WERE STILL DRESSED. THE MANAGER MS. WEBB WAS VERY APOLOGETIC OFFERED A FREE MOVIE, TOOK OUR ROOM KEYS PRESUMABLY TO PROGRAM (I WILL GET BACK TO THAT LATER WHEN OUR ROOM IS FOUND LEFT OPEN ONE DAY, DON'T MISS THAT!)THE LAYOUT OF THE ROOM IS FINE HOWEVER BOTH SINKS WERE VERY CLOGGED AND FILLED RAPIDLY, THE REMOTE WOULD NOT OPERATE THE TV, THE SHOWER MADE VERY LOUD NOISE, THE ELECTRICAL OUTLET FOR THE COFFEE MAKER WAS HANGING AND WAS NONOPERATIVE,THEY USE 25W-40W BULBS TO LIGHT THE ROOM, THERE WAS SOME KIND OF GUNK ON THE VANITY THAT WOULD NOT COME OFF!, BATH FLOOR UGH!, BROWN SPOTS ON THE TOWELS, BLOOD ON THE SHEETS, HOLES IN THE BLANKS, (ONLY ONE HOLE) AFTER GIVING ME NEW BATTERIES, THEN TWO NEW REMOTES THEY WERE SATISFIED THE TV WAS A PROBLEM AND THEY FIXED THE MAJOR 4 THINGS WE POLITELY COMPLAINED ABOUT AND MS WEBB PROMPTLY AND FRANKLY ON HER OWN OFFERED A FREE NIGHT. THE BLOOD STAINED SHEETS I GUESS WE WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO COMPLAIN ABOUT BECAUSE THE DAY AFTER THAT WHEN WE RETURN AT NIGHT OUR ROOM DOOR WAS LEFT OPEN AND I AM SURE IT WAS INTENTIONAL!!! WHEN I ASKED THE CLERK TO CALL THE POLICE SHE DANCED AROUND TELLING ME ABOUT THEIR PROTOCOL. AFTER10-15 SHE ASKED IF I WANTED HER TO CALL THE POLICE AND SHE DID BUT FRANKLY I WAS NOT SURE SHE DID UNTIL I CONFIRMED FROM MY ROOM. THE NIGHT CLERK SUGGESTED WE RELOCATE 6 MILES AWAY AND ALTHOUGH I ONLY WANTED THE "KEYS" REPROGRAMMED SHE STATED THEY COULD NOT. THIS MEANS WHOEVER STAYED IN THE ROOM PREVIOUSLY AND KEPT A KEY CAN DANCE RIGHT IN THE ROOM ACCORDING TO HER. HAVING BEEN FEED UP AFTER ALL THIS I RAISED MY VOICE AND HOLLERED AT HER QUITE LOUDLY AND THEN WAS THREATENED BY ANOTHER GUEST WHO WAS APPARENTLY HEAVILY INTOXICATED. AT THIS TIME REMEMBER IF YOU STAY AT A CHEAP JOINT THAT'S THE ELEMENT IT WILL ATTRACT! IN LIFE YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR IF YOU ARE LUCKY. ACROSS THE STREET WE MOVED FOR THE REMAINDER OF OUR STAY TO THE EMBASSY SUITES WHICH IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE, THE PEOPLE WHO WORK THERE ARE ACCOMMODATING AND SOPHISTICATED. IF HOWEVER ITS BETWEEN SLEEPING ON A PARK BENCH AND THE AMERISUITES GO TO THE AMERISUITES.

I was received with a smile; I was also given a courteous smile and the items I needed when I asked for anything. The breakfast had a good variety and it was good.

I'd say this hotel made me feel relaxed. I had a secure room and a comfortable bed with a TV.

I am very likely to return to the AmeriSuites Dallas North.

I would definitely recommend it to friends.

As we walked into the room we entered the seating area and the kitchen. There was a couch which pulled out into a bed, as well as a single chair. On the kitchen side, we had a dorm-sized refrigerator below the counter. Above the fridge on the counter was a 4-cup coffee-maker and the ice bucket with two glasses. A small sink was also here. Above the counter was a small microwave. The cabinet above the sink contained the utensils and place settings for four.

In this area was also a table for my computer with connections here for wireless internet as well as high-speed wired. This was not free - it cost $9.95 for a 24 hour period. There was a phone with a data port on the desk too.

The sleeping area contained two queen beds. The beds were quite comfortable. Across from the beds was the sink with plenty of room for items on the vanity top. There was an open closet here too with an iron and ironing board hanging up in it. Next to the sink was the bathroom with a shower and toilet. Everything was very clean and I was quite satisfied with the room. There was shampoo, lotion, and soap in the room along with plenty of towels.

The pool was an outdoor one here. The wind was blowing quite a bit and we found junk in the pool. It was quite warm and the water looked clear - to me the hotel was probably taking care of it as best they could. I think it would be to their benefit to enclose it if they could though.

There was popcorn in the lobby, but by the time we got back, they had shut down the machine for the night. We didnt find being on the first floor noisy, not even in the morning when the breakfast area was right next to our room. There was plenty to choose from: a waffle station, hot & cold cereals, bagels, muffins, donuts, pastries, toast, eggs, sausage, yogurt, fruit, coffee, tea, and juices were readily available. There were complimentary copies of USA TODAY.

If youre in the area on business it would be fine. I wouldnt even rule it out for families.

PROS: location, nice breakfast selection, good-sized clean rooms
CONS: outdoor pool seems to collect junk, lack of clean tables at breakfast
