This is a great stop when you are walking the streets of Chicago. They have the observatory, restaurants and shops. The Cheesecake Factory is there and they have tables outside. You can order something to go and sit when it's nice. There are a lot of finches and they will come to the table and let you hand feed them. Of course you have to like this sort of thing. Great place to people watch.

This is one of the most visited tourist destination in Chicago, located in the heart of Magnificent Mile. On the front part of the building, in the summer time people can just sit and enjoy the waterfall while eating and in the winter they have huge christmast tree decorated with beautiful ornaments and lights. The famous restaurants from this building is Cheesecake Factory on street level and the signature room on the 95th and the bar on th3 96th floor. A must see if you are visiting Chicago.

Right next to Watertower the building has something for everyone. There is a post office and a bank inside as well as great restaurants both casual and upscale. The best is going to the top and seeing the observatory. There are often events but we think its great when there is the air and water show!

Its free for kids four years old and under, and also there is a free hancock holiday mountain railroad display, with thirteen trains running throughout 1375 squre feet of holiday fun.

Whenever we have out of town guests who want to tour Chicago, The John Hancock building is one of the places we take them to so they can see the wonderful view from one of the tallest building in the city. The view from here is incredible and the elevator ride to the 94th floor doesn't take very long even though it feels like a regular elevator ride.

We took a family member from England to the Hancock Observatory and we had a great time enjoying the views. We received a nice photo to remember the day as well. The view is great and the Hancock is in a "better" location than the Sears tower. The Sears Tower is out of the way compared to the central location of the Hancock. Check out the CityPass for reduced rates too!

While it isn't the tallest building in Chicago, the Hancock building has the best view in my opinion. You can see the rest of downtown, including the Sears Tower, the waterfront and navy pier, and so much more. On a clear day, you can see different states. If you want to get a good view, spend our money here. Also, if you get a CityPass, a trip to the top is included.

Although I dislike heights I just had to take the family to the Hancock Observatory on a recent trip to Chicago. It was pretty busy that day and we had to wait in a pretty big line. Admission was a little under $10 for adults and around $7 for kids. To get to the observatory you ride in the fastest elevator in the world. Be sure to chew gum for the ear popping! The views at the top are just stunning. With our video camera we were able to zoom in and see Wrigley Field! There was breathtaking views on all sides & the open air part of the observatory was neat. You got to actually feel the Chicago wind whipping in. They had a neat photo op where we had the kids hold up squeegies in front of a city background. In front of them was clear glass and it looked like they were cleaning the windows. It was adorable! We had a great time here and we have the amazing video & photos to prove it!

If you are in the main downtown area in Michigan Avenue and don't want to drive to Sears Tower, try the John hancock Observatory. You get the same view as the Sears Tower although you aren't as high. It is less expensive than the Sears Tower with a 360 degree view of the City. There is also a history Wall of Chicago and one floor below is a lounge area where you can site right by the window and order cocktails. On the first floor there are resturants that you can grab a bite to eat also.

I enjoy being up here. The view is awesome on a clear day. Night is even better in my opinion. For a special treat, try to be up there when the fireworks are going off at Navy Pier. Its probably the only time you will ever watch fireworks from ABOVE! It has the only outdoor (behind a huge chain link fence) view you can get that high up in Chicago. No time limit, once you are up there, stay as long as you want. A must do for Chicago.

The View
The third tallest building in Chicago (after the Sears Tower and Aon Center ), the Hancock stands 1,127 feet tall, 100 floors high. The Hancock's greatest draw is the option of kicking back in the 96th floor Signature…
