Leonard, I tried contacting VSP over the past week and have had no luck. I've tried the new number you have provided, but it does not work. I have emailed you and VSP at the provided email addresses and have received no reply. I am a student at the Herron School of Art and Design here in Indianapolis and I am researching your organization. I'm a Visual Communications major and the class I'm researching VSP for focuses on critical problem solving using design thinking and process. I would like to speak to a VSP representative in person and if you could help me with this I would GREATLY appreciate it! THANKS!

Cheers,
Eric G.

I have used VSP for several years. Today, I went to all three locations indicated here and VSP can't be found. I've found four or five different phone numbers, including one I received two weeks ago specifically from someone there and none of them work today. I know their owner passed away very recently. I think this was a great program and am sorry to see them virtually disappear like this!

Virtual Scavengers is still around, they moved to 1127 Prospect St, near Fountain Square. They have a retail storefront at this location to make it easier for people to buy the computers they are refurbishing. I've been there a few times and had no problems with them. They were helpful in answering questions I had and willing to help me out as much as they could.

My son volunteered with them a few summers ago and had a wonderful experience. They ended up actually hiring him for pay thru the summer. It was his first paying job and he was only 15 yrs old. They are a fantastic group of folks.

NOTE: They have moved to :

Virtual Scavengers at 55 S State Ave in Indianapolis, IN 46201.

I've taken a few older systems to VSP before for them to refurbish and donate/sell for next to nothing. They're always extremely friendly, courteous - they'll even come out to your car and help you unload bulky computer gear.

On one occasion, one of their employees even spent about 20 minutes explaining how I could perform a somewhat technical hardware repair after I had mentioned in passing I was having issues with a cd burner. Can you get service like that at Circuit City or Best Buy? No... Highly recommended.

The Virtual Scavengers Project specializes in refurbishing used computers and getting them to people who would not otherwise have access to technology. They take donations of used computers from the general public and businesses, and refurbish them. The staff is always very helpful. It is a good place to take your used computer if you get a new one. THe staff will come out to your car and get it; you don't even have to carry it in. And they will also give you a tax deductible receipt. The general public may volunteer on Saturdays and earn their own computer.

PROS: Helpful, knowledgable staff
CONS:
