Tip for bringing your own bags  3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

Dekalb, while great, has totally not figured out that bringing your own reusable shopping bags is the right thing to do. If you bring bags into the store, they harass you in a very ugly way. So here's what you do: Leave your bags in the car, take your cart to the checkout, then have the cashier wait while you go to the car and get the bags (you are allowed to bring them to the checkout area, just not the shopping area). It's stupid and unnecessary effort, yes, but maybe eventually they will see the light. And it beats hauling home 25 new plastic bags, given that it's impossible to shop there without buying 25 bags' worth of stuff.

Superb selection!  5 Star Rating - World class

You can find almost everything in the world in here! They have a wide variety of items at reasonable prices. I like to visit the bakery counter. The lemon squares are deeelicious! You can spend hours just wandering and reading. Being that prices of everything are high, I'd visit before the next salad!

A Fresh Food Wonderland  5 Star Rating - World class

The DeKalb Farmer's Market is a wonder to behold. Countless aisles of fresh fruit and produce that I had never known existed. Six foot long sugar cane stand like flags in passing carts. There are whole trays of live crawfish and fresh baked samosas. This is also an international market as can be determined from the endless numbers of Indian shoppers. Each employee has on their name tag the languages and dialects they speak. This truly is an amazing place.

Farmers Market?  4 Star Rating - Very good

I just saw this business featured in the PBS documentary "To Market, to Market to Buy a Fat Pig".
It looks like an interesting place, but I gotta wonder--
Since when is this a "farmers market"??
It's a big international style supermarket owned by *one vendor*.
A "farmers market" it ain't.
If there was truth in advertising, it should be called "Your Dekalb International Market", but perhaps I'm just being picky...

Some good Some bad..  3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

They do have some great items if you look through the store. Display is warehouse/unappealing is display. Dimly lit aisles in some areas to save money.
Mgmt can get on your nerves. For example I like the Turkish juices in the box. If you get a box of 12 you get a discount. I get a box and get home and find mold on the bottom of the boxes from storage in a damp area. Receipt says 48 hour return policy and I live far. So I clean off the mold off each box.
When checking out they make you rip open the box and take one out to scan. Then the flimsy box is no good anyway. Next trip I get 12 singles. The display has lots of singles and lots of boxes. You dont get the 12 price if you buy singles. Yet if you buy the box you have to tear the box open at check out. ? The lady on the floor is tearing open boxes to put out singles. Im not sure what the big deal to them is but they refuse the box price if you have 12 singles rather than the cardboard flimsy box to go with it. Just an example of Anal Indian mentality that seems to run the store.

amazing selection of foods, best farmer's market in ATL  5 Star Rating - World class

This farmer's market has an huge selection of international foods. It's a true "international" farmer's market since you can find different enthnic foods from all over the world, not like most other farmer's markets which specialize only in Asian or African food. I found the fruits and vegetables from this store tend to last much longer than those from regular supermarkets.

PROS: huge selection of foods, live fish market
CONS: only cash, checks or debit cards, no credit cards

Variety is the Spice of Life  5 Star Rating - World class

An interesting tourist spot to bring out-of-town friends and family. One hundred forty thousand square feet of amazing variety - cheeses from around the world and French butter; an in-house bakery which bakes breads, bagels, croissants, muffins, cakes, cookies and pastries; regular and decaf coffees, organic and unroasted green coffee beans; fresh flowers and arrangements; the Pastry Bar has goodies to be enjoyed on the spot, which include fresh fruit and vegetable juices, fresh fruit salads and smoothies, hand-dipped ice creams including Haagen Daz, Ben and Jerry's and Ciao Bella, along with fresh pastries, muffins, croissants, cookies and cakes made daily; and fruits and vegetables direct from growers around the world.
