I see Dr. Kozelka currently for migraines. I first saw him years ago before having children, and went off medication to have children. After having my kids, the migraines returned, and I went to the Diamond Headache Clinic for treatment. (Don't be fooled, they dispense TOO much medication at low doses. It's very one-treatment fits all. Please ask around everywhere before you make up your mind to go). I finally returned to Dr. Kozelka who is trying to fix the medication overload that I am on currently from the DHC. Do not be fooled if he doesn't seem friendly or chatty. He is very business like, but I too broke down in his office in tears and was treated with respect. He may not hold your hand, but he knows his stuff and he offered me several treatment options which are actually working after twenty years of migraines. I have a great deal of respect for him.

I saw Kozelka in August of 2007 after a very serious injury from a DO who cracked my neck and back. From this came pain and numbness in my left extremities and Kozelka ordered test after test to find the problem. He then left on vacation for 10 days and I waited around in depression from the pain I was experiencing. When he returned, my MRA found carpal tunnel in my left wrist. This is crap! I don't even use my left hand to type. If anything it would be in my right wrist. Needless to say, my relationship ended quickly when I saw him for the third time to ask him if he could refer me to another neurologist for a second opinion. I explained that I had severe pain, running from the back of my shoulder blade that radiated up my shoulder down my arm up my neck into my head and that I was tingling everyday since June in my left arm, fingers and left leg and toes and that something was terribly wrong. He didn't seem concerned and told me about a pain specialist in Chicago that would distribute drugs. I have a small child and the drugs that I was already taking didn't help and I definetly didn't want to be a zombie, so I left and never returned. What a crock of crap. I never did get any answers and here I am still 7 months after the neck adjustment with pain and depression.

I had a brief consultation with this doctor and thought he diminished my concerns and dismissed the seriousness of my condition, only later to have it confirmed by a doctor at a reputable medical center. His casualness resulted in a delay in treatment that was costly. If you have a neurological disorder you probably don't want a doctor who makes light of your symptoms. If you need a doctor who takes his time and respects your perceptions, I might interview him first. I would not go back to him.

I saw this doctor for having symptoms that ended up being migraines, something youd think a Neurologist would figure out. He not only did NOT figure that out, but his bedside matter was nonexistent. I have a neck injury from an automobile accident, something that has since been diagnosed and treated (see Diamond Headache Clinic), to which he accused me of being a kid trying to scam the insurance company. When I got teary eyed he made the comment, Oh great, here come the waterworks. For an old man you may expect him to have experience in dealing with people in a professional manner, but youd be wrong.
