i visited the zoo with my family and the animals were kept in very cramped metal cages. i remember that the zebra that was there was left with no water on a very hot day and i made a comment to one of the staff which were very rude and did nothing. i also remember that one of the "cages" was some kind of poorly rigged shower stall fastened together with what looked like duct tape. it was horrible!! these animals should not have to live like this, many of them do not have any room to roam, left without water etc... the whole experience upset and saddened me

Waccatee Zoo is a privately owned collection of various animals and I just cannot reccomend this place with any conscience at all. Their monkeys are isolated and living in metal cages with no space to run or climb. They're not allowed to socialize with each other. The artic fox sits in a non-climate controlled box in the middle of the grounds and just looks like it's going to croak during the summertime.

Most of the animals are confined to small spaces and this isn't good especially considering most of the animals that are IN small spaces are grazing or roaming animals.

Someone needs to rescue these animals and place them with people who understand animal behaviour and can meet their individual needs.
