4Just wanted to let Christine D know her 1st problem isn't Dorbrook's attendants, it's that she thinks her kids will listen to someone else better than they'll listen to her. Nice parenting.
5I went to Dorbrook for the 1st time last week with my 5yr old daughter and 3yr old son. Many of my friends recommended to me. I live in Staten Island,NY- so it was about a 40 min drive. What a fantastic Day we had, my kids loved it. They ran back and forth from the spray park to regular park. I will definetly be going back, however I will be going with another person as it is so difficult to keep my eye on 2 kids who want to be in different places. Dorbrook is beautiful, clean and best yet free. I have never seen a park like this anywhere in NY.
I would recommend this place very highly.

Dorbrook sprayground is the BEST!! I take my two year old there all the time, and he loves it. We go there with friends too. Monmouth County parks are the best...I live in Monmouth and feel blessed to have these parks near where I live. And I agree...parents should watch their own kids!! It is not the attendents' jobs to watch your children.

Looking forward to taking our 2 &1 year old there tomorrow to have fun with them. Certainly not expecting the 2 teenage attendants to watch them though-thinking that is not what they are there for to those moms who expect others to watch their children!
4Dorbrook splash park is great......no fee, lots to do and clean. What is hilarious to me is the moms who expect the attendants to watch kids wandering out the door. HELLO thought that was our job as a mom!!!! If the moms are too busy talking to other moms, texting, or whatever else they might be doing....get a clue. IT IS YOUR JOB TO WATCH YOUR OWN KID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just discovered the sprayground and playground this week - and went with my 5 year-old 3 times! It was crowded the first 2 days and not so much on the 3rd day due to clouds, I guess. In any case - she had a great time all 3 times. It was easy to watch her in the sprayground - it is enclosed except for one way in/out (where the attendants sit - I agree - they are not there to watch our children - that is our job!). I felt comfortable sitting in one spot on the playground when I was with just my daughter and her friend...but I did shadow my 3 year-old nephew - the playground is not enclosed.
I guess the word about this gem in Monmouth County is spreading - we ran into friends who drove 45 minutes from Middlesex County!
The whole park is just beautiful!

It was a wonderful, budget-friendly (as in free!) activity. Yes, it was a bit crowded, but the day I was there it was a polite crowd and there was plenty of room to experience the different areas. I got the impression that the attendant was there more to make sure food stayed out and other rules weren't broken rather than to monitor children. The surrounding grassy area and regular park were nice as well. Everything appeared clean and well-maintained.

The attendants are not babysitters. You're in charge of your child, and shouldn't need other people to do it for you. Sprayground is great and free, as well as the playground right next to it.
5Today, at around 1:45 PM, my four year old daughter tried to wander out of the area. Two attendants, two dead eyed teenage guys working at the front gate, were playing with their cell phones or something. They were laying across the benches and looking down. I dragged my daughter back into the area crying and asked the attendants for a favor. I said that if someone who is "official" could tell her to don't wandering away, she might get it. They smirked and each in turn sarcastically said, "Don't wander away" in the same tone I said it. Very sarcastic. They then stared into space away from me. A few minutes later, I saw another young child wander out with a frantic parent chasing him. The two "attendants" never noticed again. They were still lying on the benches and looking down.
Do NOT expect any type of quality attendant here. You are really on your own. The park would be better off saving the money and not having any attendants. The two bored teenagers with attitudes were useless.

The Dorbrook sprayground is fabulous for kids from infants up to older kids. They just love playing in the spritzing water. Hours are different each day, so check it out before you go, and they must wear swim diapers and can NOT eat/drink in the sprayground area. Great fun for you and for your child (or children) for FREE. Adjacent to a new playground area as well, so when they tire of the water, head on over for some swings, slides, sandbox time, and more!

My kids had a blast this summer at the spinkler park. It was clean cool fun all sumer long as well as the price being just right, FREE!! nothing spells fun in the summer like a free spinkler park.
PROS: no charge to get in
CONS: not as fun for older children
The sprayground and it's nearby playground are only two summers old. The sprayground is a fenced area with pipes and other devices spraying and water on multitudes of children. There are benches to sit on and a few umbrella covered tables. Kids need swimmie diapers. The ground is mosty covered in protective material but there's some concrete. It's FREE, the kids love it on a hot day or evening. You can eat at the picnic tables just outside the sprayground.
PROS: Free, fun for a hot day
CONS: Gets extrememely crowded
