My son has been seen by Dr. Starbuck since he was an infant. They have always done an excellent job taking care of him. We would not consider going anywhere else.

Dr. Michael was our pediatrician when my two oldest were infants. He was great back then. We just moved back to the city, scheduled appointments for all of our kids. They moved their office between now and then and got lost, called the pediatricians office they said we would have to call back to reschedule. We found the office took our other three boys, the wait was long on the phone and in the office about an hour at least. The Dr. Michael we once had was sluggish and not even close to the perky nice man we once knew.

We called to schedule the one appointment that was missed and the staff informed us they would not reschedule because we missed his first appointment. Even though they had already seen all three other boys and we paid $105.00 to have all the medical records copied and sent to them. We left several messages for Dr. Michael with no return phone call...we switched our boys to Indian Crest Pediatrics they are wonderful, we are in and out quickly, no hold time great staff and kid friendly office.

Arvada Pediatrics appearantly has so many patients that they do not believe in good service....seems like they can afford to loose some...

WOULD NEVER SEND A REFFERAL TO THEM

I've been taking my kids to Arvada Peds for 6 years now. We use Dr. Noell Brucker and are happy with her...although we rarely see her because when the kids are sick, we'll take whomever is available. We do like the NPs, Renee and Lara. there is a new female doctor there, I took to her as well. Even though my rambunctious toddler and I waited 1 hr 50 mins to discuss a diaper rash and we left with no solution.

Tiffany is the officer manager, always polite, always friendly, always remembers my kid??s names.

When my friends and/or expecting parents ask me who we use for pediatric care, I do tell them and but I??m quick to share their deficiencies so that I am not to be blamed when they aren't happy down the road.

If anyone from Arvada Peds is reading this, please take the below advice as constructive so you can improve your business:

1) Hire another receptionist to answer phones. I can't think of 1 time in the last 4 years that I have called and not heard "this is so and so, there are 3 calls ahead of you, please hold". My favorite is when I call and it's busy for hours and hours...like every Monday morning.
2) If we were in your office within the last 48 hours, it's a good chance that our insurance has not magically disappeared. Do you really need me to try and balance/juggle my baby, diaper bag, and purse so I can get my card out for you EVERY SINGLE TIME?
3) Stop carelessly killing trees. I'd like to see the office be a little more green. Every time we come, you copy our insurance card and hand me some ridiculous piece of paper where I have to write in my cell phone number for the umpteenth time. Assuming you see 250 patients a week, between the two that's 26,000 pieces of paper a year--or 1/2 a tree!! How about if you make one piece of paper, keep it in our file and we can initial it every time we come? Or leave a finger print or something.
4) How about a follow up call every once in a while?
5) Front office: We are not cows, don't herd us like we are. We are people, people that ultimately fund your paycheck. Try building a relationship by asking something personal about each person coming in while you are requesting our paperwork and collecting our co-pay.
6) How about dividing the waiting room into a sick and healthy area? I've heard they do this in pediatrician's offices in Highlands Ranch.

I'll close by saying. If I wasn't so incredibly busy, I'd have time to find a new pediatrician??s office. But I am, so I deal with everything I am unsatisfied with and have no one to blame but myself. And so I don??t sound like I??m completely griping, I??ll state the main reason I continue with APAC...because they are less than 2 miles away.

Dr. Starbuck is the kindest man in the world. When my children are sick and we arrive and are immediately met by the doctor himself. Even when we have a check-up there is no longer then a 15 min. wait. We love this office and have been seeing them for 21 years with our foster children and our own children. We would never see another doctor.

But he is so busy now that the last three times I have made an appt. we always get someone different. we have had some issues with our sons development and tired of having to play catch up with the new person we are seeing at the time. that is why I always liked Dr. Michael because we use to always see HIM, he always remembered us, what was going on, what to do next, etc. very kind, great listener. everything you would want in a peds. doc but doesn't do anyone any good if you never see him, or the same person twice. looking for a new pediatrician.

I arrived on time for my appointment and 40 minutes later I was still waiting in the exam room. When we arrived there were no other patients in the waiting room. We were there for routine immunizations. When I poked my head out to ask how long it would be until we were seen, first I was ignored for 5 minutes while I stood there (3 women in the office area completely ignored me) finally a nurse asked if she could help me and I asked "how long?" and the response was "uhmmmm, soon" with an attitude no less. Like I was really interfering with her day. 10 minutes later I was angry. I once again stood outside the room until I was acknowledged and I asked to speak to the office manager. I was told she was on vacation. I asked to speak to Dr. Michael or Dr. Kathryn and I was told they were not in the office. Finally, 45 minutes after my arrival the nurse showed up with the injections. I expressed my displeasure with the wait and I was given excuses, "there are other patients", etc.

The worst part? Not one single "I'm sorry". Not even when I told them that I was going to be late for an appointment.

I am sick of going to the doctor and being treated like they are doing me a favor and I should be grateful after I shell out $50.00!! I have been taking my kids to Arvada Pediatrics for over 5 years. I really like the doctors but I will be looking for another practice. This office obviously has too many patients and not enough staff.

Dr. Michael Starbuck has always been wonderful. My chidren like hime (and that's a major plus), and we like his friendly demeanour. He always takes the time to listen to concerns and explain things in detail. Also, he always takes the time to follow up and call and check on our children's progress.

Whenever I have called the office I have always recieved a call back from the nurse within a half hour.

As for the reviews I have read regarding the office, yes sometimes the front desk staff are busy and may seem curt, but they are trying to get through everyone as quickly as possible. I have never had to wait in the waiting room for more than a few minutes.

My only criticism is that every time I visit I am given the same form that has not been updated and asked to update. I fill this information in every time, yet the form never gets updated. It's rather frustrating.

I think Dr. Michael is an exceptional doctor! He is extremely kind and knowledgeable, and my oldest child has a blast every time he comes to see him. He has been my oldest child's doctor since 9 months and my younger two children since birth. He has gone the extra mile for them numerous times, contacting specialists personally when necessary for us. The other doctors and PAs that we've seen have all been great. The front desk staff have been kind and always greet my children by name and with a smile. We've NEVER had to wait more than 10 minutes in the waiting room which is a miracle considering other adult doctors I've seen and some other pediatric offices where I always wait an hour. If they have a rule for arriving late for your checkups, and if that's what keeps them on time for the rest of the patients during the day... including me...I'm all for it!

I don't agree with any of the feedback left for Dr. Michael Starbuck.I have a profoundly handicapped child and a very healthy teenager. I have been through 3 horrible Doctors in Colorado that treat my son as if "oh well he it doesnt matter he will never get better" Not Dr. Starbuck!! Regarding the Front office give them a break! that is a very hard job! Barb the nurse has been so wonderful for me, I can just call when I'm not sure what I should do and she will always help me and make me feel much better and always great-great advise. Tiffany was my 1st point of contact at this office, talk about a nice person. Dr.Michael has a wonderful wife and a partner in this practice Dr. Kathryn, talk about a Doctor going beyond the call and having a huge heart. Dr. Kathyrn could not sleep worrying about my child one night. This is why I say they should have a score of 10 stars +++++ What practice lets the patients or parents call them by their 1st name. Even though they have asked to be called by their 1st name, I don't because no other Doctor is this state cared enough until Dr. Starbuck, so for me they have my 100% respect and loyalty. Sincerely, A very proud mom!!

Our overall experience with Dr. Starbuck was just average, nothing really to write home about. However, his front office staff, well to say they were HORRIBLE would be an understatement, every visit being a little worse than the one previous. To start, when we arrived we were never greeted immediately, in fact several times, after signing in, I stood for 15 minutes (yes 15 minutes) waiting to pay the co-payment and fill out the paperwork that you had to fill out each and every time you had a visit (beyond annoying). When you did finally get an acknowledgment that you were there, they were not friendly, but cold and short. ?Your card, your co-payment, go sit down and fill this out and return it?. Our last visit was the straw breaker. We arrive 10 minutes after our scheduled time, due to road construction on the main street adjacent to the office, which yes is late, but when the usual practice was to wait 10 - 15 minutes even after you got there to get signed in and then another 20 ? 45 minutes waiting in the patient room to see the doctor (if you were lucky to see him), I didn?t figure this would be an issue. However, this day was the day the NAZI office receptionist went into overdrive. She shouted to us that we could not be seen, as we were 10 minutes late, and we would have to reschedule. Appalled by her lack of professionalism, that was it. The doctor is average and not worth the hard ship of enduring his snotty office staff, I told her fine, then I want my son?s medical records, now. She, kicked into high ^&*%$ gear. She slammed the form to release medical records in front of me, and said she would go get the office manager, the records can?t be release for 2-4 weeks after they receive the release. I picked up the paper, and then my husband, son and I left.
After I had time to calm down, I called to get some information, so that I could get my son?s shots taken care of by a PROFESSIONAL Doctor?s office, I told the nurse what happened earlier. She was apologetic. I called a couple of days later to ask for my records from the Office Manager (holy smokes, I now know why the office staff are snots), she was an even bigger NAZI than the receptionist. She tells me that it will cost $14.00 for the first 10 pages and .50cents for every page thereafter, and it won?t be done for 2 ? 4 weeks. So, my advise regarding this particular doctor?s office ? Unless you like being treated poorly, don?t use this one.

PROS: Dr. Starbuck is an average doctor.
CONS: Office Staff is HORRIBLE

We took our firstborn son to Dr. Starbuck when our son was a newborn to age 2. Our second son saw Dr. Starbuck from age newborn to 6 months. My husband did not care for this doctor right away, but we kept going to him.

We needed a referral for an allergy specialist for our oldest and got one right away. When we needed another referral for our youngest a few months later, Dr. Starbuck wanted us to take the boys to two separate allergy specialists. That made no sense, and we were not willing to do this. We have known the allergy doc for 15 years and trusted none other.

There were other things, like the 45 minute wait for a well child check up. This was the norm, not just a few times.

It was our long trusted allergy doctor who referred us to the boy's new pediatrician, who we are 100% happy with.
