Where to start. Well, lets see. EBC is absolutely horrible when it comes to customer service. Their warranty sucks, and the hardware that they sell is nearly as unreliable as they are.

Like a person enjoying the pain, I have gone back to EBC on a number of occasions for reasons that range from price and availability for specific parts. I am not sure why, however, on the last four occasions, I've purchased memory, external drive bays, and a few other individual parts. Either the parts didn't work to begin with, or they failed promptly after about a weeks worth of use.

Everytime I went back in to exchange the defective parts, the desk emp's and supervisors would always come up with some reason not to either exchange or honor their warranties. The excuses were pathetic, and their attempt to hold on to their money and sad hardware was an awful example of customer service and quality parts/hardware. They are a functioning lemon, that should be covered by a version of the "Lemon Law"

Please be very cautious if you go to EBC, and if you need any parts, you will most likely have a better experience if you shopped on an unverified ebay site than by going to EBC.

Pros: One of the few parts resellers in Salt Lake

Cons: Read the find print and expect the unexpected

I should have read the reviews on the internet about EBC Computers because for one thing they are right and I would have saved myself some $ and problems with them and defective equipment. I work in IT, am technical, and can tell you seriously that this place is awful and I will never shop there again. I bought a Pioneer DVR-215 dvd burner from them because it was highly rated. However this one had problems in the computer I was building. I had bought an extended warranty from EBC so I figured I was covered and would get a replacement. I took it back to the store but they said before they could do that it would have to be tested. In the meantime I bought 3 dvd burners from NewEgg including the same exact Pioneer model. It had no problems in my machine and neither did the others. A week goes by and no call from EBC. I called and they said it tested good. I replied well what was I supposed to do with a defective drive that wouldnt work in my computer? They said I could not get a replacement but instead could return it for a refund but with a 25% restocking fee because it was scratched and they would have to sell it as used. I said that it would cost me less to send it back to Pioneer. When I went back to pick it up I looked at it and at first couldn't see a scratch. Then I saw a very faint line on one side where it had rubbed up against the cage where you install it in the PC. And for that they're not going to honor an extended warranty. This means that the extended warranty is worthless no matter what and they can "test" it and come up with any result they want and blame you and not have to honor a warranty! I do testing and I don't think they probably performed any kind of rigorous testing that would've identified the problem and now I have to send the worthless drive back to Pioneer! I emailed the owner and explained what I was unhappy about and he never replied. I told him why should I continue buying from there? There was no reason!

Pros: Can't thing of any.

Cons: Poor customer service and do not honor "warranty".

Horrible experience with trying to exchange a keyboard/mouse. Owner would not back word of employee, who promised me it would be no problem to refund. Had to return to store 3 times to comply with what store requested from me and by the third time it had been 3 months after the purchase and the owner would not even consider an exchange for the product even though the merchandise has never been opened and is still sold in the store. They waisted my time giving me the run around and now I am stuck with something I can't even use. I would think twice about buying from an owner who does not know the meaning of customer satisfaction!

I purchased a hard drive from EBC Computers a while back. Their policy is to swap out faulty hardware within 30 days of its purchase. The hard drive I purchased was fine until the evening of the 28th day when it completely failed. EBC was closed for the evening at that point, and they were also closed the 29th and 30th day due to a Sunday and a Monday holiday.

When I took the drive back on Tuesday, the store refused to swap it out for a new one because I was over my 30 days. It didn't matter that they weren't open on the 29th and 30th day, they refused to swap it out.

If you are looking for computer parts, PC Club is a much better local option (or newegg if you don't mind shopping online). Their employees are better trained and they will swap out faulty hardware a few days after the 30th day whether they were closed or not.

I do not recommend EBC Computers.

Pros: Since its local, you can get parts today

Cons: Long wait times even with few customers in the store, horrible customer service

I you are looking to build or upgrade your system, this is a great place to start.

They offer some of the more reasonable prices on items that I have found. The prices are cheaper if you pay in cash than with a credit card.

There isn't as much selection as you can find at some of the more specialized parts places, but you can get a nice machine for a good price.

PROS: Nice prices
CONS: Limited selection
